VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2025

This is a lovely campsite out of the way from the crowds but still within easy reach of Keswick, Grassmere and Ambleside. There are some lovely views up the hills and good access to the thermal springs if that floats your boat. You are a bit close to the road with a bit of road noise during the day but there is a running stream close by, a great pub just next door and a bus stop just outside. The facilities are very clean but basic. Loved it 😊

Quiet, peaceful & well located

Very easy to find in a good location. Facilities were very clean and functional though found shower head a little low and close to wall. Would recommend for couples or solo travellers.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2025

Nice little campsite, ideal location for Helvellyn and Thirlmere. Quite remote. The site is right next to main road so can be slightly noisy with passing traffic but the facilities are a good standard. It's about 15mins from Keswick and the same from Ambleside. The pub next door is very good and worth a visit.

Flying visit!

Lovely scenic pitch at the foot of Helvellyn (spelling). Basic site, quiet, adults only. Lovely hot showers and all very clean. I would return again. Handy for bus to Keswick and pub next door for good meals. I would have preferred a few more hooks in the shower cubicles. The proprietor was very patient with me, as I arrived 35 mins after the official arrive time, very kind..

Lovely little campsite in a great location

Loved our stay at Thirlspot farm. The owners are lovely and the campsite is perfect for hiking Hellvelyn and ideal for a trip to Keswick. We had a great weekend.

A bit of road noise, basic facilities, clean, but shower in need of an upgrade. Overall, enjoyed the stay, and right next door to the Kings Head Inn, good food etc.

A small site with hard-standing at the front of the farm. Great location for climbing Helvellyn and there's a pub and bus stop next door. Facilities are dated, but charming and clean. You're right next to a road so it's noisy in the day but quiet by 10pm.

Bus stops right outside, great walks from site and lovely pub next door. Only downside was the showers might have been better. Owners are nice and helpful, pitches large each with own water and electric.

A good stopover for the lakes or Scotland

This is a small site with a great view over rolling hills. The toilets and showers are simple but clean, but there is no warden present on the site. This wasn't a problem for us and we were told to select our preferred pitch and set up.

Had a wonderful time just what we needed, the setting was fantastic. The pub right beside was a bonus and there was a bus stop just the opposite side of the road. Which went to Keswick so no need to repack the van.

Lovely little site near to Thirlmere and close to Keswick. Nice (small) level picth with EHU and water, with stunning views. Good facilities with lovely hot shower. Nice (but pricey) hotel next door. Only slight issue is road noise due to proximity to main road but mainly during daytime hours.

Nice, very clean and tidy site. Farmer and wife both friendly and helpful. Perfectly located as a base for fell walking in the Lakes. Next to pub which is an added bonus. Would definitely recommend and would visit again. Many Thanks.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2025

Simple site which provides everything you need as well as an ideal location for taking on Helvellyn and Thirlmere on foot. There are bus stops in either direction right outside (Stagecoach route 555) you can go many locations further afield. You can hop and hop off for £12 a day to ride five buses to visit Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere (route 599) and back all in one day. Food at the The Kings Head next door was excellent too but they stop taking orders around 8:15pm. Noise from the busy (and fast) road right outside is significant but didn't bother us at all. Neither did the RAF flying through the valley low level everyday - this affects a wide area and numerous towns, not just this site. The road is very close so not ideal for the safety of kids and dogs.

Good, friendly, basic site

Good location for walking and bus route to Keswick or Grasmere and beyond. The site is basic (as advertised and as expected). Friendly visits by the owner. Nice bar/hotel/restaurant next door (where we celebrated our wedding anniversary). The buses are regular but may be delayed due to traffic. We used the stagecoach app to check.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2025

A lovely little site with stunning views all around. Great for walks straight off the site to many hills (inc Helvelyn) and waterfalls. All of the required facilities are provided and kept clean. We stayed at the end of April and the site was quiet, so no queuing for showers & toilets (2 of each in the Gents & similar in the Ladies). Facilities were quite basic, but kept clean and well stocked, plus always hot water. Fabulous pub right next door, serving great food and a good choice of drinks. Not that they can do anything about it, but the only real criticism is that it's too close to a busy main road. we would visit again.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2025

Good site with water and electric easily accessible. Toilets were basic, but kept very clean and did the job. Ideal location for walking and enjoying the scenery with a pub next door. The only down side is if you want total solace it is on the A591, so busy road all day until about 11 at night. No Wi-Fi, also limited 4G and phone signal depending on network.

Great getaway

This cute, little farm and pub is an ideal place to stay in your van. Next to a busy road but it doesn't take away the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. The facilities are just what you need and lovely and clean. Would definitely come back, so many local walks with stunning views.
