About the site


Set across 2.5 acres, this peaceful campsite sits on the edge of the North Pennines National Landscape, just 35 minutes from Northumberland National Park. It's an ideal base for families, hikers, nature lovers, and anyone keen to explore moorland trails and soak up countryside views. You may even spot a few friendly animals around the site! Choose from non electric grass pitches (5.5m x 8m) for tents, and non electric grass or hardstanding pitches (9m x 9m) for caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and trailer tents. Electric grass and gravel hardstanding pitches (8m x 8m) are available for roof tents, campervans, and trailer tents, while electric grass and hardstanding pitches (6m x 9.5m) with grass sections are suitable for caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and trailer tents. All electric pitches come with a 13 amp hook up. Enjoy a home cooked meal at The Manor House Inn, a minutes walk away. For a change of pace, head out to Durham or Newcastle, both a 30 minute drive. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Both BBQs and campfires are permitted on site.

Things to do on site and in the Shotley Bridge area

As the site is located in the North Pennines National Park, you're well placed for challenging hikes, woodland walks, and exploring moorland views and scenery. For more adventure, take a 35 minute drive to Northumberland National Park, another great spot for dramatic hillsides and scenic landscapes. Both parks welcome dogs, so your four-legged friend can join the fun.

Kids will enjoy a visit to Beamish, the Living Museum of the North, just a 25 minute drive from the site. Saltwell Park is a popular choice just 35 minutes away, a 55 acre space with gardens, open areas, and a boating lake. History fans can head to Chester's Roman Fort and Museum along Hadrian's Wall, also 25 minutes away, where you'll find a collection of Roman artefacts.

If you'd prefer water activities, Derwent Reservoir is just ten minutes away. Walk the trails through Pow Hill Country Park or cycle along the water's edge. There's also a bird hide for wildlife watching and opportunities for fishing.
