Beautiful Little Campsite
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 What a lovely little, family run campsite!
We stayed for one night and my two boys and I loved our stay at the campsite, wishing we were staying for longer. My youngest loved the various animals he could see and pet, the games available to play and we all enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in a lovely little courtyard setting.
There was a fridge and freezer available for our ice blocks etc. and a full toilet/shower block to keep clean. The location was perfect for our visit to the Tank Museum and Monkey World, and with more days available, it was the perfect position to explore the area. The booking and checking in process was simple and great value for an electric pitch. The other guests were all respectful to noise rules and nice people, with lots of families.
Thank you Longthorns from my boys and I. We hope to stay again if we are travelling past again.
Longthorns campsite Roof Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 Only stayed one night in our new roof tent. Lovely amount of space showers and washing up area clean food is really good too defo going back for a longer stay very friendly
Great family stay
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 Our family enjoyed our stay at Longthorn's campsite. The farm was wonderful, the staff were super friendly, there was lots to do on site like table football, Connect 4 and pool. My kids loved pottery painting and walking the alpacas!
Everything was reasonably priced and the tents were well spaced out. We had an electric pitch and the setting was so beautiful surround by fields and oak trees.

Family oriented campsite
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 Large campsite - not busy when we were there, not sure how it would feel when busy.
The reception was closed when we arrived, even though we were well within its opening hours, so it took a while to find someone to tell us which pitch we were on. Toilet and shower block was clean - powerful, hot showers - watch out for anything you take in that you want to keep dry!
Overall it was fine - we chose the site because it was close to the start of the Jurassic cycling sportive route - definitely good for that!

Lovely First Camping Trip
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 A lovely quiet campsite, situated next to Monkey World. A perfect first camping experience for our 2 year old. The facilities were perfectly adequate. We are already thinking of coming back.
Weekend stay
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 Fab stay, little one loved the animals and had fun talking to them, loved the colouring in the cafe room. Staff all lovely, friendly and chatty, could ask lots of question and help to help.

Definitely an off peak stay VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Mar 2026 Poor communication and lack of phone/email service made the stay frustrating.
Plus, lack of transparency in advance re lack of facilities (subsequently changed but after we had booked). Think we got them at a bad time (ie off peak).
Nice location and scenery

Only negative thing was, the only available toilets weren't close and it was raining so got wet every time. Friendly host, will return.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Feb 2026 We had a lovely stay with Longthorns Farm.
We arrived late on our check in day and they were so understanding and greeted us at the gates. The family was so caring and sweet.
We got absolutely drenched on our first night and they were so helpful offering to dry what we needed. We had lovely food in there cafe. The lady in the cafe was so friendly and sweet. She showed us a baby lamb that had just been born that morning. Despite our unlucky weather, we had a great stay. The site is also perfect for any animal lovers, I had the best time walking around all the animals on site (including a highland cow!) Not only the animals they own but also, is just a field's walk from Monkey World.

Great site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Feb 2026 Lovely site with really friendly people and awesome animals. Cafe was a big bonus, but the lack of showers was unfortunate.
Also being in a tent, we were surrounded by huge camper vans/caravans which made me wish there was a tent only field, which there may be in the summer instead of the winter, which is when we went?

Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 Excellent site with the attractions of Monkey World next door and Bovington Tank Museum a few minutes drive away.
We go there twice a year to display at the Bovington South West Model Show and can honestly say that the owner could not be more friendly and helpful.

Not impressed Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Its not really for motorhomes, too many tents, lots of noise in the night with campfires, drinking and kids screaming until 11.30pm.
Would not stay there again, didn't get much sleep in the two nights we stayed but it is very convenient, If you're going to Monkey World, it's just 5 minutes walk.
Taking kids for first time
Shepherd's Hut - Shepherd's Hut (Dog Friendly) Aug 2025 We stayed in one of the huts. Kids first time ever going glamping/camping and they absolutely loved it.
Played outdoors a lot, in a hub...enjoyed the food truck and Friday breakfast.
The team was super friendly and helpful. Kids were asking to stay longer, which I cant even say how surprised I was.
Good break but little noisey

But overall, it would not stop me going again
