About the site

This site is nestled in the Cheshire countryside and offers a quiet and friendly base for families and couples, with historic Chester a 20 minute drive away. Enjoy plenty of strolls accessed directly from the site, including a 40 minute walk to the popular Ice Cream Farm, and within a five minute drive to Tarrenhall Marina and Beeston Castle. The site offers camping and touring pitches spread across two fields, the 'Meadow' and the 'Paddock'. In the main camping Paddock are 23 non electric grass pitches for tents and tourers, as well as ten electric grass and eight hardstanding pitches in the 'Meadow'. Please note that electric grass pitches are only suitable for tents and campervans, while hardstanding pitches can accommodate campervans, caravans, and motorhomes. For those looking to leave the tent behind, the site offers two cosy camping pods. Outside, you have your decking, tables and chairs, and a fire pit. In the autumn and winter months, there is an electric fire to keep you warm inside. Sleeps up to two adults and two children. The Acorn pod, on the other hand, sleeps two guests and provides an insulated pod that includes two camp beds, a kettle and a picnic table. Remember to bring your bedding! There are also grass pitches, yurts and holiday homes available. Beyond the site, you may want to explore the peaceful walks along the Sandstone Trail (5 minutes), followed by a drink in one of the many great coffee shops or pubs, also five minutes away. Cyclists will enjoy how the site is also on Regional Route 70 of the National Cycle Network, too. And with Chester Zoo, BeWilderwood, and other famous attractions just moments away, there's something for the whole family to enjoy. Up to two dogs are permitted per pitch while one is allowed per camping pod so your four-legged friend can join the adventure too. Raised BBQs and fire pits are welcome onsite!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2025

Stayed here for the 1st time, booked for 2 nights and only stayed the one. Felt this was advertised as an adult friendly site but this was not the case! Kids running unsupervised around the shower block which were filthy, wet with toilet paper on the floor and hairs all round the sinks. Husband went to take a shower and no hot water. The next day when we tried again, the toilet was full to the top with excrement and toilet paper which we can only assume was done by kids. We paid for a hard standing pitch which was littered with cigarette ends and paper. We paid £30 a night so we expected a bit more considering we stayed down the road a few weeks before for £16 a night. I wouldn't recommend this site for couples looking for a quiet getaway.

Big site, lots of space to pitch

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

Gravel/small stones on paths were not practical for kids or during the night - made it noisy when pitched next to the path, made my dog bark (yikes at 3am!). I liked the camp, we asked for a pillow at the shop & it was not a problem, kindly lent rather than charged. Location you can't change but not much to do close by. The walk to Beeston Castle was very overgrown. The marina closed at 5pm Small town, couple of pubs, a park, a SPAR shop and a chippy, oh, and an Indian take away. Quiet time observed in the first field at 10:30 which was good, because we went next door where it was lively, lol. Dirt cheap for a pitch & we just wanted a quiet weekend so it was good. Big plus' firepits for hire per night £5 kindling & wood £10! Handy! Another was large shower & loo in one great pressure & always had hot water even before bed late at night. It said no groups but this weekend, there was friends & families on all 4 corners who were clearly together, there were a lot of kids, so if this is a bother (water guns, footballs, screaming) pitch in the next field along, didn't seem to be any kids in there - adults only maybe? Cleanliness dropped points because my friends shepherd's hut was covered in spiders inside & out on the roof, very dusty, not a major issue but... The toilets needed checking more often when the place is full of kids. Dirty wet feet, water guns, water balloons, number twos on the floor! Not great at dinner time. Lots of bins to dispose of rubbish, no cardboard recycling, only glass. £25 to pitch per night, no electric but friends had the hut which had a kettle & electric, so all good. If you take a non electric pitch, take all cooking stuff you need because there's nowhere close to buy.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2025

A little basic but good views. 2 toilet and shower blocks, one was dirty / not cleaned. We didn't go into Tattenhall as planned, our dog was not well and no footpaths, although the road was quiet.

A note from the site themselves...

The site was born out of my love of all things camping. As a child, all my family holidays were spent under canvas. My mum and dad, brother and I, would head off for our two-week holiday, come rain or shine. It didn't matter. Every year, without fail, we would come back and say, 'that was the best holiday ever!'.

This is exactly what I want our guests to say and feel when they have stayed with us.

It's more than our family business. It's a passion to show people just how great quality time is and that you don't need to spend a fortune to make lifelong memories.

Toasting marshmallows around a fire pit at night is magical and memorable. Playing cards in the tent when the weather isn't great with a nice cup of tea is fabulous family time. Playing rounders when the sun is shining and making friends with the people in the next tent is so enjoyable. Of course, visiting the gazillion places close by also adds to all the wonderful memories and talking points.

We welcome people to come and experience quality time with loved ones and see why I get so passionate about it! At the weekend, you can join Smudge (my fur baby) and I on our walk on the ridge and I can show you 1st hand a great walking route and the magnificent views to be seen.
