Beautiful place
Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We loved our stay at Howgill Lodge. We found everything so effortless. Lovely pitch with its own picnic table, clean toilets and showers close by, large fridge freezers to store our milk and that, water tap opposite our pitch, football area and play park for the kids.
We loved all of the wildlife and the stunning views of the Yorkshire countryside. There are rabbits EVERYWHERE. I counted 30 rabbits at one point in the field opposite our pitch and obviously the alpacas are wonderful too. We saw birds of prey circling above the campsite and bumped into an adorable little hedgehog on the path back from the toilets.
We loved the Love Brownies place. It was definitely a highlight. We had gorgeous weather and sat outside looking out over the Yorkshire Dales and the coffee, brownies, milkshakes and ice creams were delicious. Next time, we’re definitely going to grab a couple of pizzas from there. It would have been better value than the Craven Arms, which we didn’t rate for kid’s food yet seemed to cost a small fortune.
This campsite was a good base for days out. We decided on Bolton Abbey and had the best day.
Overall, we loved every minute of our stay (apart from the thunder storm on the second morning) and we will definitely back next year 😊

Medium Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 The toilet and shower are super clean and I can see Alpacas which live near to our pitch, I will definitely visit them again.

Fantastic site with great views
VW-Type Campervan - Premium Hardstanding Pitches Oct 2025 Booked this site following a video from a popular YouTube-er and was very pleased.
The site is down a tight road with potholes, but once you're at the site, you'll realise it was all worthwhile.
Pitch locations are great (although some are better than others). Reception staff were very helpful and no job was too much for them.
The facilities were spotless. I have given 5 stars for this before, but having been here, they either need to allow 6 stars or I should have put 4 stars for my other reviews.
There are alpacas onsite that you can visit at feeding time or even book a picnic with. There is also a brownie barn less than 5 minutes walk away. They served sandwiches, snacks, wood-fired pizzas and… brownies. It was a bit pricey, but you pay for the convenience.
The only negatives we had was that the site is very dark at night. No lights at all apart from a small one near the wash up station. It can also be quite steep which is a bit treacherous in the wet, especially on a dark night.
Overall though I would definitely recommend this site and we are looking forward to visiting it again in the New Year.

Single Axle Caravan - Premium Hardstanding Pitches Oct 2025 Such a wonderful, well kept, and clean campsite. It even has mountain hare hopping round the site, and has an alpaca farm. It is so peaceful.
The only thing I need to mention is get your timing right, as its about 1mile of single lane and then another 400m of single lane with potholes to get to the site. We got lucky. Check google map beforehand.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (5m x 6m) Sep 2025 I swapped to an electric pitch. It was my first time camping with my own tent. Me & my sister were both novices.
The staff were so lovely came to check all was ok. We hired a fire pit. The site is very peaceful. Really clean.
Lovely staff. Really friendly & helpful. Had a great time & I'd definitely recommend this site.

I really cannot fault our stay and the hosts were so lovely. The outdoor washing up area is immaculate and so up to date.
If you're looking for a peaceful camping spot I would 100% recommend, people do bring their dogs, so please bare that in mind.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (3m x 5m) Aug 2025 Came here for a 1 night stay and our children had never camped before.
The staff were great upon arrival, really accommodating, easy check in & easy to find our pitch. We were given a map of the campsite and a quick explanation of how things go / are run. We purchased a fire pit & staff were kind enough to drop it off at our tent for us.
Amazing facilities, toilets and shower blocks are immaculate, everything sign posted and an all round lovely campsite.
We also walked to the Craven Arms pub alongside the river which took approx. 30 mins and had tea there before walking the same route back.
Easy check out in the morning and grabbed a coffee & fresh pastries from reception before we left! They were lovely! Would definitely come back and recommend to others!
Lovely outlook, worth the drive
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2025 Excellent staff and friendly service at this amazing campsite. Planned, and lovingly updated, it has the best facilities so far on our trip. Loved the coffee and croissants for breakfast.
Beautiful walks, and peaceful evenings to calm the soul. Highly recommended!

Only stayed one night but feel there are lots of walks I can do from there and they are next to The Brownie Barn so I'll be back!

Medium Tent - Large Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We had a great stay with our two springer spaniels.
The location was ideal for exploring the area, the campsite was quiet at night-time and the toilet/showers were spotless and well replenished.
The freshly heated morning croissants were a lovely treat. Facilities were well maintained, and the owners were very friendly.

The views were spectacular. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a fantastic camp site for all ages.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Me and my 6 year old triplets had the best 6 nights at Howgill. It was our first camping trip just the 4 of us and we loved it. Super safe for the kids and the staff were just amazing. Feeding the Alpacas was definitely a highlight. We will be back next year for sure.

Family camping trip

Beautiful site and friendly staff. The location is stunning with beautiful views from our tent. Our son's first camping trip and it was amazing.
Only thing was that it was difficult to hammer the tent pegs in and would bend the pegs in certain spots, so we had to move the whole tent. Dogs friendly also. Our dogs had an awesome time also.
