About the site

This small, rural and secluded glamping site is home to just three units, perfect for those in search of a peaceful, adult only getaway. Surrounded by countryside yet only five minutes from the quaint and historic market town of Uppingham with its dog friendly cafes, restaurants and shops! Just ten minutes away are various ancient woodlands and the beautiful Rutland Water where guests can amble along the shoreline with their four-legged friends, hire a bicycle or enjoy the thrill of some watersports. There are two glamping pods, Woodpecker and Bumblebee, each sleeping up to two guests in a double bed. Inside you will also find a leather sofa, dining table and stools and side table/utility cupboard. The shepherd's hut instead comes with a king size bed, a pull down dining table and a single leather pull out sofa bed for separate sleeping if required. Each unit has its own private kitchenette equipped with a fridge/freezer, two ring hob, kettle, toaster, utensils and condiments. The pods also have a combi oven/microwave, whilst the hut has an oven with an integrated grill. Each unit has underfloor heating and a fan so you are comfortable, whatever the weather. You will also have your own modern ensuite, equipped with a flushing toilet, hot shower, hand wash, shower gel, hair dryer and a heated towel rail. Other personal touches include board games, books, walking guides and torch. Ideal for dogs, Woodpecker is set in its own private 1m high enclosed fenced garden, while Bumblebee's enclosed garden is ideal for those more athletic pups with a fencing height of 1.5m. Canine companions are also provided with dog bowls, a dog mat, a doggy tipi and dog toys - so they can be spoilt too! Outside you will find a picnic table, fire pit with a BBQ arm, paella pan and storage box. Outside the pods, there is rattan seating while the shepherd's hut has leather foldable chairs and its own wood-fired hot tub for soaking under the stars! Since the site is dog friendly, they like to give guests the option of bringing their bedding and towels, but it can be added on as a bookable extra if you would prefer the bed to made up on arrival. You can even add a Swiss Valais black nose sheep petting experience to your stay where you can meet and cuddle Hamish, Hector and Hugo.

Rutland Rural Retreats is open from 11/04 to 01/11.

A note from the site themselves...

Rutland Rural Retreats was designed for couples wanting to get away from it all, somewhere uniquely small and secluded yet with civilisation, country pubs, quaint market towns and much more, just a short five minute drive away.

Most importantly for us and for those lucky enough to have them, somewhere their beautiful dogs could also enjoy the great outdoors, somewhere they would be made to feel as welcome as their humans and not confined to the floor!

If you're looking for somewhere where doggy guests are as important as their humans, where nature and comfort don't need to be mutually exclusive then we are for you. Just three beautiful, secluded ensuite cabins in a four acre meadow, each with enclosed gardens. It is the ideal place to rest and unwind for that romantic break, doggie pamper holiday or just a little relaxation.
