About the site

If you're looking for a relaxed getaway with a warm welcome, this family friendly park is an ideal choice. Surrounded by the Shropshire countryside, it enjoys wonderful rural views while being just a 20 minute walk from local pubs and a delicious American smokehouse. The site offers 20 electric grass pitches for tents and tourers, each measuring 8m x 5m with a 16 amp electric hook up and space for up to six guests. For added comfort, choose one of the two cosy camping pods. Fully insulated, each pod includes electric and oil heating, a fan, fridge/freezer, a microwave, a kettle, and a TV/DVD player. One pod sleeps two adults, while the other sleeps two adults and up to two children under eight, both using sofa beds. Please note that bedding and crockery are not provided. When evening arrives, fire up the BBQ or gather around a fire pit. In the morning, treat yourself to fresh eggs and home-cured bacon, delivered straight to your pitch! Don't forget to make room for your four-legged friends in the car too, with up to two allowed per pitch. Surrounded by scenic walking routes, it's a great base for adventures and exploring! Pets are not allowed in the pods, sorry.

Facilities include a shared toilet block, along with two private toilets and showers, both equipped with hooks. There's also a laundry area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, a children's play area, waste disposal point, recycling bins, and a washing up area.

Fresh produce is available to order, and you can also purchase Calor Gas. Opposite the site, you will also find Redwood Smokehouse with Newcott Fish and Chips, a minute away down the A41. Little Waitrose at Shell Ternhill is also just five minutes away for picking up any essentials.

Not value for money, felt extremely overpriced for what is available. Facilities basic and tatty. A car is needed, due to distance from Market Drayton. We thought we could walk there or at least walk somewhere from site with our dog. Very close to a busy A road, noisy at night. Only positive was the pitch was flat and the proprietor was welcoming and friendly.

A note from the site themselves...

Fancy quiet hols in pretty and peaceful Shropshire countryside? Tiptoe along to Abdo Hill Farm, a family-friendly site less than 10 minutes' drive from Shropshire's Market Drayton.

This is outdoor holidaymaking without too many bells and whistles… facilities like toilet blocks, waste disposal and barbecue disposal are all in place, but there's nothing else to distract from unwinding days of playing with the kids or taking a walk with the family's four-legged companion.

There are plenty of walks to inspire waggy tails and happy humans hereabouts though, starting with a stroll along Shropshire Union Canal (which passes about five minutes away) before travelling on half an hour to Ercall Wood, where an eight-mile loop that climbs the Wrekin starts. Do try to make it all the way to the top too, as it's said one can see five counties from the peak on a clear day…

It can be a challenging climb, so make sure to load up on fresh eggs and home-cured bacon (available on site) before the attempt, and plan to self-reward with some pub food and pints at the nearby inn less than five minutes from base, once the path circles back to terra firma.

Things to do on site and in the Market Drayton area

If you're for glorious walking routes and beautiful vistas, Hawkstone Park Follies are just 15 minutes away. With over 100 acres of parkland, there are miles of walking trails to explore with wildlife and follies to see along the way.

Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World (25 minutes) are perfect for entertaining the little ones. The family attraction has giant realistic models of dinosaurs with exotic animals to see, including lemurs, parrots and meerkats. There are also indoor and outdoor play areas, great for burning off some energy.

Keen historians can pay a visit to Wroxeter Roman City (30 minutes). The English Heritage Site plays host to the remnants of an ancient city named Viriconium, with audio tours, a Roman townhouse and an exhibition of daily Roman life available.
