About Clayford Field Camping

A lovely secluded campsite in a countryside setting, surrounded by woodlands with spacious pick your own dog friendly pitches. Overall there are 40 spacious grass pitches measuring 8m x 8m without electric hook up. Each one allows a maximum of six people, and is suitable for tents, campervans and motorhomes and you can pick your own pitch upon arrival. The pitches are set amongst a six acre field, with plenty of remaining space for ball games or just generally hanging out. Cyclists and more energetic walkers can head straight out onto the Castleman Trailway, a 17-mile stretch of disused railway line that leads all the way to Poole or the New Forest, and also joins other national cycle network routes. Boots or bikes are a given, so you can get out onto all those local trails, into the local River Stour with your paddleboard. A maximum of three dogs are allowed per pitch at an additional cost, just please keep them on the lead and under control at all times. Raised BBQs and campfires are permitted. Wood and fire pits are available to hire on site. Campfires are not allowed during extremely hot periods.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

The journey to the campsite was quite adventurous, we thought that the navigation system had lost its way, but we simply trusted it, and it eventually led us safely to the gate. The best part was that we could arrive late in the evening; we received a code for the gate and were allowed to choose a spot. We slept peacefully and had the best Wi-Fi ever, although we were right next to the restroom facilities, I'm not sure about the rest of the field. It's a very large campsite, and when we were there, there were only a few people. The showers and toilets are basic but nicely done and clean. There's nothing to complain about. However, if the whole site is full, I imagine there could be very few available, but maybe many people shower in their motorhomes or trailers. The whole experience was super uncomplicated, and we had a restful night while passing through.

Great place

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

Lovely quiet field, pitching up where you liked. Toilets & showers basic but clean with hand soap provided at hand basins. Washing up area had cold water only which was fine as I heated my own water. Would definitely go again.

Very good
