Back to basics camping done just right

We booked this campsite as a spur of the moment get away. We arrived at 5pm and checked in at reception. They already had all our details available and went through the details of the site. As we didn’t require hook up we were offered to park anywhere we like in the main field and were given some options of the best parts depending if we liked the sun or not. The camp is back to basics as they don’t have any on site toilets or wash facilities, but that’s made very clear before you book several times, so we knew what to expect. We enjoyed a nice walk around the woods (which are also great for dogs) and had a look round the site. Although there are several seasonal pitches the site itself was quiet and peaceful. We had a great night and will be booking in again so we can explore the local area a bit more.

The strangest of places

We chose this site for location and expectations that a site on a country estate would be superb. There are no toilet and shower facilities, so the £30 per night is a tad overpriced. A very warm and friendly welcome by the hosts, and the pitch provided was great. However, the site is not geared towards tourers on holiday, but is primarily a residents site. Unfortunately, the majority of the residents accommodation falls a long way short of standards accepted. Caravans and awnings are aging, in disrepair, tattered and over grown with vegetation. Quite spooky to walk through. On a positive note, the dog walking area was excellent and very well maintained, and the woodland walk was great.

Short stay easy access

Great private well sheltered site, wonderful welcome from Sharon and Darren. Good flat ground for set up. Lovely walks in woods and upto the hall. Thank you

Excellent site

Excellent reception upon arrival. Friendly and considerate treatment from Sharon and Darren. Lovely position under trees for our caravan with a generous pitch size. Nice pub close by. We would definitely return. There are no washing facilities, toilets or showers, so you need to be independent. We would still definitely recommend.
