Overnight stay before going to Tatton Park RHS show

We loved this site, clean, spacious and well organised. It is early days yet and some facilities are obviously being replaced as and when they can - everyone has to start somewhere! The new toilet and shower block is one of the best we have seen ever, just a shame it is a walk away from the van site and shared with the marina, although in truth it wasn't a problem on this trip for us. We loved to ability to walk our nervous dog on site, but away from other campers. Unfortunately we were unable to experience the quirky bar or pizza hut facilities due to the day we stayed. This site is so quiet, unbelievably so, being where it is. We would revisit if we were in the area again.

Great little find!

Very well organised. Booked in at reception and everything was taken to our pitch on the quad trailer. Lovely sized pitches, very spaced out and felt very private. We took bikes, so it was so easy to cycle from the café, facilities, bar and pizza kiosk (lovely pizzas!) Used the café each day for breakfast. Food was delicious. All staff were very nice and helpful. There is a shower block at the café/reception area, but we chose to use the wooded hut outdoor showers just for the whole camping experience! They were warm enough and we felt very Bear Grylls! Smashing stay, great site, very easy going, masses of space. Lovely Marina setting.

Beautiful site

Beautiful site. Spacious, peaceful and very good value. Couldn't be happier with the service and facilities.

Popular but peaceful

We enjoyed our two night stay on this popular but peaceful campsite near Northwich. When we arrived, we were shown to our pitch in the fields beyond the marina, by the lad on the quad bike who transported our stuff from our car. The site is beautiful and clean, with tent pitches in private mowed areas of extensive wheat meadows presided over by a rather presidential heron, and flanked by farmland with sheep on one side and Frisian cows on the other side of the canal. We were impressed by the cafe and toilet facilities by the narrow boats, however prices were a bit steep in the cafe. Good and service was very good, with that being said. Elsewhere, the toilets near the tents are portacabins. A lovely place to sit and watch the occasional boat move down the canal. Things to do nearby include the Northwich splash pool and play area, the saltworks museum and, slightly further afield, Castaway Play in Congleton. Wild swimmers are well-placed for Pickmere, which is only a ten minute drive away.

Our stay

The best campsite I have ever stayed at. Each tent has their own large space which is brilliant with having taken our dog with us. The pizzas on site are amazing. Will definitely be back soon.

Lovely

We had a lovely pleasant day in the tent. It was well equipped and we both enjoyed it. We will come back, great location. Everything about the site was great.

Brilliant stay!

Great campsite, staff friendly and attentive. The grounds well kept and very peaceful, just what you need to recharge the batteries! All in all a great experience, we will be back!

Great place

Could do with a few more showers, but overall really clean and such a nice place! Need to stay few days longer next time so we can explore more!

Halfway home

A fantastic location, the site was very close to the M6, but it feels like the middle of nowhere. A very picturesque setting of the marina and a lovely area to walk. Unfortunately, the pub/tearoom was closed, but hopefully we will get a chance to try it next time.

Peace in the meadows

Really lovely site, the wildflower meadows make a fantastic setting, excellent facilities.

Fab stopover

All good except that the toilets and shower were smelly and dirty.

Lovely relaxing stay

We only stayed for one night with our 2 dogs, but will certainly be back. Loved having a couple of drinks with pizza before heading off back to the tent for the night.

Bank holiday gem

Wonderfully friendly staff. Fom arriving, being shown to camping position, the barge bar, the pizza hut and tearoom, it was all very welcoming. Tatton Park is a 15 minute drive away, so a great base for a day out there.

One night glamping

The glamping tent was lovely and well equipped. Fire pit and outside scenery was gorgeous. Toilets and shower facilities were great. However, the noise of planes constantly flying overhead was too much and we left in the middle of the night, which did spoil our plans completely. We did email to say we had left during the night but didn't get a reply in the days that followed.

Being located just 15 miles from Manchester Airport, there are times when planes will fly overhead. This has not typically been an issue for our guests, and we haven't experienced significant overhead traffic this week. We apologise for the delay in responding to your email. First visit

First time of staying. Extremely friendly welcome and guidance on arrival. Friendly personnel in bar, good choice of cold beer and even dairy free pizza's (wife allergic to dairy). Though marking facilities one star lower due to (I think) one shower, other wise very happy with the overall ambience of the site. We would hope to return again.

1 night last minute idea

Nice place, peaceful and quiet. Great for couples or families. Generous size plots. Owners very relaxed. Nice long boat converted into a bar and takeaway pizzas served until late, great tea shop/cafe during daytime. Clean toilets. Good views, nice walks. The place is easy to find. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for that area.

Value for money

The staff were very helpful and there was a quad bike with trailer to transport your gear from car to pitch. The pizza place was good and nice bar. Plenty of outside tables to sit at which was nice in sun.

Great little site

Lovely site, next to the canal - onsite cafe (daytime) + small bar and pizza shack (evening). Simple pitches, but great, peaceful location.

Ok site

You can't park next to the tent, they taxi up the stuff on a quad. Not many toilets and a bit of a trek, but an ok site.

We apologise for any inconvenience regarding the parking situation, as its stated there's no parking next to the pitches (this is one of the selling points at Oakwood). in regards to the toilets, due to recent wet weather conditions, they were temporarily relocated. However, we now have a total of 9 toilets and 6 showers located around the site for our guests.

Perfect short break

Beautiful location by the canal, big pitches with plenty of space. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended and have already booked to return.

Fabulous site

Had a fabulous 2 days and looking forward to returning. Great location on the canal, lovely views. Staff friendly. Great little cafe, bar and food stall. Win win!
