About the site

This small, peaceful campsite offers adults the opportunity to unwind and switch off. There are numerous country walks along local lanes and footpaths, and it's the perfect place to bring the dog too! There is plenty of space with only 20 unallocated tent pitches, allowing up to three guests each. Make your choice between the sheltered woodland or the spacious meadow. Some pitches even overlook the water! Great for those wanting a digital detox, there is no WiFi and limited mobile phone signal. You'll go home rested and relaxed. There are also three glamping cabins onsite, each fully furnished with a wood burner to stay nice and cosy. Spend a morning in the hide with the binoculars, and you may spot herons, egrets, muntjac and much more. There is also an onsite information centre and book swap. When you arrive, just park your car in the car park in the paddock, and grab a wheelbarrow to transport your things. For evenings onsite, there are BBQ and fire pits to borrow, or feel free to bring your own. Disposable BBQs and ground fires are prohibited. Dogs are also welcome to join you for your stay, with up to two permitted on some pitches.

Newbourne Woodland Campsite is open from 15/05 to 26/09. Pitches from £28/night for 2 people.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Tent PitchesMay 2026

The most peaceful, friendly and relaxing campsite I have ever been to. Loved the classic FM in the loos, the great showers, loads of space between pitches and beautiful surroundings. Went on a scorching hot weekend and plenty of shade to relax in. Very trusting and friendly owners who made the atmosphere a wonderful experience. Thanks Jen!

Weekend retreat - almost heaven

A note from the site themselves...

We've been tending to our nursery in Newbourne for over forty years now. About three decades ago, we decided to plant nearly three acres of trees. Our loved ones adore hanging out here, camping under the trees, and soaking in the natural beauty. So, we thought, "Why not share this slice of paradise with others?" That's how Newbourne Woodland Campsite came to be!

Our son has taken over the nursery duties, supplying fresh veggies and salad greens to local businesses.

We're all about spreading the joy of nature and countryside vibes. Swing by, kick back, and enjoy the serenity of Suffolk's countryside. We can't wait to meet you, Jen and Larry

Things to do on site and in the Woodbridge area

Woodbridge, about 15 minutes away, is a lovely old market town with beautiful river walks - and excellent restaurants! Waldringfield (10 minutes) is even nearer so you can start your river walk there and stop off at The Maybush for a pint or a meal.

Of course, a trip to Felixstowe (15 minutes) is a must. The docks and viewing point are at one end with the historic Landguard Fort. Then there's the seafront, pier, swimming pool and amusement arcade in the middle, and old Felixstowe with its fishing boats and huts at the other end.

How about a trip on the foot ferry from there over to Bawdsey and the world's first operational radar station? Or take the ferry to Harwich for a great day out.

Other nearby things to see and do include:

  • Holywells Park (20 minutes)
  • Woodbridge Tide Mill Museum (20 minutes)
  • Sutton Hoo (25 minutes)
  • Ipswich Waterfront (30 minutes)
