Really enjoyed our stay

Great campsite with everything you need and at a good price! Friendly hosts who gave us maps of Cornwall on arrival and explained everything onsite. The site is very clean and well maintained, with toilets, showers, and a washing up room. There was also a little food van that served breakfast and coffee which was very handy. The beach is a bit of a walk but the bus stops outside the camp. There is a pub called the turnpike inn that is closer to walk to down the lanes and the food is very good. We would definitely stay again.

Perfekt

Wir waren schon zum 2.mal hier und kommen wieder. Wir lieben es . Für uns ist es ein Gefühl wie nach Hause kommen. Mike und Jane sind super lieb und immer sehr hilfsbereit. Es ist ein sehr schöner Campingplatz unser Hund durfte mit . Es ist nicht weit zum Strand

Back to nature

There's nothing I have to complain about. It was clean and quiet. Flat ground, well looked after and Mike and Jayne were so helpful and friendly. Other campers were respectful and quiet too. The little food truck served nice coffee and arrangement of breakfast baps at reasonable prices.

10/10 simple and delightful campsite ideal situated as a base for exploring:)

A most welcome stay

Start to finish was highly enjoyable. A smooth and friendly arrival. The pod was exactly as described and in wonderful condition. The facilities couldn't have been cleaner. Lovely and quiet site. Just thinking about when to return.

Great spot.

Great stay, great facilities. I've been looking for local great spots and found one! Toilets are very clean, walk (yes really a 15min walk) into town for a beer and very close to a massive beach. Have already reccomended the site to friends.

Would recommend to anyone

Really nice and welcoming, you get good amount of space. First time camping and Mike and Jane were really helpful with everything, even putting up the tent 🤣. Really nice environment not far from beach whatsoever.

Lovely stay

We have just had a lovely stay for 3 nights with our 2 children and dog. The facilities were so clean and the owners were always on hand to help if needed. Just down the road from Gwithian beach. Had a lovely taco food cart that came on a Wednesday evening and another food truck on different days. Thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to be back soon.

A great place for family camping

Very welcoming and accommodating owners. Had a great time, location was perfect with links to the major routes within a couple miles. Supermarkets close by. The range of local beaches for lifeguard patrolled safe swimming areas were also great or just relaxing watching the surf. It was always nice to return to camp for a nice hot shower and to see what was on offer at the hot food stall that evening if I didn't want to cook. We definitely plan on returning next year. Thank you Jayne and Mike for being great hosts.

Wish we had stayed for longer

Incredibly clean facilities, super helpful office team, we had an absolutely gorgeous stay here. We were positioned by the entrance but that wasn't an issue, most people drove in slowly and adhered to the noise curfews. If you don't have a car there's a nice walk to the beach and you can get the bus from outside the campsite now straight into St ives which is excellent! We would absolutely consider coming back.

Mike and Lyndsey work so hard to keep on top of the cleaning, which can be a challenge when we are so busy, but it pays dividends with the comments we get back from guests like yourself. The bus stopping outside of the gate is great for our guests and makes our location even more appealing to guests who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. Overall, an okay stay!

My sister and I brought our niece and nephew here for a 4 night stay. A lovely campsite with clean facilities and a very basic shop in the office. Great location and great prices. I did find that the pitches were very small. Definitely the smallest standard pitch I've stayed on (been camping for 12+ years) and they are very close together. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jayne and were made to feel welcome. I found Jayne to be super pleasant, friendly and very helpful but unfortunately, I found Mike to be rude on occasions. To name a few I witnessed him shouting at people to close the toilet doors. Whilst I appreciate the doors need to be closed due to wind etc, shouting is not the correct approach. On another instance whilst washing up, my niece and nephew were having a giggle whilst helping dry the plates and bowls, and Mike felt the urge to ask if we were playing or actually washing up. I felt this was very passive aggressive and unnecessary. Again, my niece and nephew were riding their bikes on the campsite and Mike told them they were exceeding the 5mph speed limit. How is a 9 and 12 year old supposed to know if they are exceeding 5mph? Mike felt the urge to tell them this on several occasions which left them confused as to what they were doing wrong. I think Mike's priority should be stopping the cars which are blatantly exceeding the speed limit on the campsite, not my niece and nephew who are harmlessly riding around. The campsite was very noisy on some nights with neighbours screaming and laughing until 1am. Another night, a car pulled up next to our tent at gone midnight and then the icing on the cake was last night the family to the left of our pitch were playing the ukulele and singing at gone 11pm. Overall, our stay was ok. I might return in the future but I am reluctant due to the way my niece and nephew were treated and no, they are not trouble makers. They are good as gold and are respectful young people. P.s I know the cockerel is completely out of your control but wow-ee! That's the definition of a wake up call.

Many thanks for taking the time to write such an in-depth review. We are so glad that you found the facilities clean and that the location and cost of things on site suited you. With regard to the cockerel, we are in total agreement with you and thank you for pointing out that this is outside of our control 🐓 With reference to the size of your pitch, all of our pitches are not less than 10 metres to allow for an 8 metre tent with guy ropes and a 2 metre corridor for space between tents and your neighbour. We do leave the middle of the field empty so that children can play ball games. We apologise if you felt that Mike was rude, unfortunately he had to tell your niece and nephew off more than once for riding bikes at an unacceptable speed, with no safety equipment and for playing around the toilets and wash up facilities, as did Lyndsey our cleaner. With the greatest of respect you were not supervising them at all times and may not of seen what they were doing. We do ask for children to be supervised at all times and not to ride bikes or play around our facilities. This is made clear in the T's and C's, which you would have received at the time of booking and confirmation. Although it isn't our responsibility to explain basic road safety, or supervise any children on site, Mike did explain to them how to gauge their speed, but this obviously didn't help. Please be assured that we take road safety very seriously and daily, we have to talk to people about their excessive speed on site, so it is categorically not just the children who get told. This could have been a very different scenario, if your children had been hit by a car or ran into a camper on site and injured them. We fully accept that your children were not the only ones we had to speak to on site as we had received complaints from other guests about the excessive speed the children were riding all over the campsite with no helmets or regard for anybody else's space. With regards to the children in the washing up area, the day before they had been asked not to play around the toilets, so on the occasion that you refer too were asked if they were playing or washing dishes. It's such a shame that you never came to the office or rang to let us know about excessive noise, as Mike is on call 24/7 and would have willingly came over and spoke to the people in question. Unfortunately we cannot do anything if we are not made aware of a problem and we had only received complaints about the dangerously excessive speeds children were travelling on bikes, which we acted on, not any noise. We realise that our site will not suit everyone , but we have campers who come back every year, because they love our peaceful site and we are not just a family site, we offer a peaceful getaway to everyone who may want to book with us. Five night stay

The site is very clean and tidy, quite a nice location for local transport. Well maintained, the management is always very friendly and helpful what ever the question is.

Fantastic budget site

I first went to this site as my favourite site a mile down the road was fully booked. The camping area is a simple field, the toilet and shower units are modular. sounds basic but the cleanliness of all areas is impeccable. The welcome is warm and the facilities perfect for a tented stay. The field allows children to play safely and pitches are well marked. Food is available from the trailer on site and the shop stocks essentials. I have no problem recommending it to all.

Friendly, relaxing stay

We stayed at the Old Stables for a short get away. The facilities were well maintained and the atmosphere was relaxed. Jayne and Mike ensured our stay was as comfortable as possible (even when our tent was defeated by the wind!) We will come again next year, thank you for being so accommodating.

Great campsite!!! Can't wait to stay again

We stayed in this lovely campsite for a night, the facilities were clean and excellent. They had everything you needed including homemade cakes and an ice-cream van even came on. The pitches are large and flat and the campsite is extremely well kept. Can't wait for our next stay there.

Outstanding!

Excellent

Lovely campsite

Just a couple of miles outside Hayle in a great location this site has great facilities. On site is a takeaway service for food with specials on certain nights, prices reasonable i.e. breakfast roll egg bacon and sausage £5:50 and yummy.. Just a 15 minute walk away is The Turnpike Inn which has great pub food.. Shower's and toilet's are clean and for men and women separate, fire pits are also available, it's a dog friendly site. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely visit again.
