Located in the heart of Somerset's Blackmore Vale, Henstridge Golf and Leisure is a relaxed site that caters to outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful break. This landscaped park offers year-round camping and touring options for caravans, motorhomes, and tents, with hardstanding and grass pitches. These measure 6m x 6m, and optional 10 amp electric hookups (metered) are available too. Set on 70 acres of countryside, the site is home to an abundance of activities, from a well-stocked coarse fishing lake teeming with carp, roach, and tench to a scenic nine-hole golf course for both casual putters and avid golfers alike. The clubhouse serves as a welcoming social hub, featuring a cosy bar, restaurant, and a big-screen TV —and there's even more to explore beyond the park's borders. It's an ideal base to explore Dorset and Somerset. The site is just a 15 to 20 minute drive from Shaftesbury and Sherborne, with its abbeys, castles, museums, and a brilliant lake for kayaking (or more fishing). Seasonal pitches are available, too. Dogs are welcome. However, they must be kept on leads at all times. The site is also located next to an airfield, but this is only used by the air ambulance on rare occasions.

The site is pleasant, spacious and well kept. There's plenty of space for a tent with a car parking space next to it. The electrical hook up is centrally placed so you need a long lead if you are on the end pitches. We had to ask to move nearer the hook up as it was a stretch for our lead. The main problem with the site is the shower block, which only has a couple of showers and toilets in both the men's and women's, and the cubicles are very small. The sinks are also incredibly small, with next to no work surface to put your things or hooks to hang towels. I was also charged £5 for the electric on a prepaid card of which I only used 30p of it in a 2 night stay and the rest was non-refundable. This wouldn't be a campsite that I would return to.

Thank you for your review. The toilets and showers were built to the guidelines from the authorities but we do agree there is not much space. The electric card is loaded with £5-00 (16.1 units of electric) but the meters do not show a monetary value on them. The reading are of the units of electric and the figure you are quoting is the remaining units you had left. We do state no refunds are given.

The team were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We had an issue with our electric cable and they kindly loaned us a spare. They also provided great recommendations for local cycle routes and options for swimming. Facilities are basic, but very clean, so could not fault them. Also, stacks of space for the kids to play and easy access to the onsite golf course!

Lovely, clean camp site. Very quiet. Toilets and washroom are clean, as mentioned in other reviews could do with updating but the facilities are good. Shower pressure and water temperature are very good. Signage directing to the pitches could be clearer but that's just because I read the map wrong.
