The Crofters Snug is a small, dog friendly campsite offering just five touring pitches, two glamping pods and one shepherd's hut. The site is located at the top of mainland Scotland, nestled between Thurso and John O'Groats, and is the perfect North Coast 500 pitstop. Drink in the dramatic sea views and star-studded skies, and keep your eyes peeled for the Northern lights!
About the site
If you're looking for unobstructed views, comfort and a bit of peace and quiet during your North Coast 500 road trip, look no further. Owned by travel-lovers Jo and Karina, this site is conveniently located six miles west of John O'Groats, right by the popular NC500 tourist route and perfect for exploring the Caithness coastline. The site offers just five touring pitches, two glamping pods and one shepherd's hut. The touring pitches are large hardstanding pitches with electric hook up and stunning sea views, suitable for motorhomes and campervans. Please be aware that tourers must be self sufficient as there are no shared toilet or shower facilities. The glamping pods are well insulated and furnished with a double bed, a double sofa bed, a stylish kitchenette and an ensuite bathroom. For a romantic getaway, you might want to book the cosy shepherd's hut, kitted out with a log burner stove, king-sized bed, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom. All glamping accommodations also come with a private firepit, perfect for stargazing around and enjoying a cold (or warm) brew. If you're staying between September and May, you might even be lucky enough to see the beautiful Northern lights! Your four-legged friends are more than welcome here and even have a secure dog walking field to run around.
The site closes for various weeks in the low season.
