Cornwall holiday

Loved the site but proximity to the airport is unbelievably close. On Tuesday, there were 15 planes taking off, civil and military, right above our heads which was not conducive to relaxation. Planes were taking off and landing on the other days, but not as bad as Tuesday. The only saving grace was that there was no flight noise at night. Also, the electric situation is quite off putting. All this is a pity as the site itself is lovely, with pleasant and helpful staff, The jury is out if we would stop again ☹️

Hi. Unfortunately the airport, even though appears busy, normally isn't. The 15 planes your witnessed were not anywhere near that figure. There are normally only 2 - 4 flights a day but what happens from time to time is pilot training at the airport, as it is a quiet airport and one plane flies in a circle and practices landings and taking off, but it is just 1 plane. You may also have been unlucky as the military plane you saw was just the same aircraft again training the pilots, but the military planes very rarely visit here to do that. Can I ask if you had a problem with the electric connection as I am not aware of any problem? Unfortunately the powers that be will be enforcing electric meters for all campsites over the next couple of years as they do not want businesses making money on re-selling electric to customers. The only way that is achievable is to meter every pitch and people pay only for what they use. We believe that this is the fairest way as it is not fair for low users to be subsidising the higher users. As this is the first year we have used this system, we have given a very high amount of electric within the pitch fee, so only very high users will be paying extra for their electric. From next year, the site fees will be cheaper as no electric will be included within the pitch fee and everyone will pay for what they use. For 70-80% of people, this will mean their holiday costs will be cheaper as they will not be subsiding the very high electric users which I'm sure everyone will agree, is the fairest way to do it. I hope you will try us again in the future as like you said, the site enjoys a great reputation for its location, cleanliness, and extremely helpful and friendly staff and atmosphere.

Lovely campsite

Lovely site, clean tidy, lovely walks to beach.

Very nice few days

Very nice site. Clean all around and well set out. Facilities are clean and well kept. We turned up late but it wasn't a problem the site let us in the know of what to do.

Had a great stay early May

Great stay and highly recommended. Lovely and peaceful and a well run place.

Clean, tidy and peaceful

A perfect park which was friendly and the facilities were always clean. Lots for children to do like a park, football, basketball and skatepark.

Great location

Great location but glad we were there out of season as the facilities must get really busy when the site is full. Also, the showers had an annoying habit of intermittently running very hot, then cold.

My visit

Next door to airport, felt impersonal, no free WIFI, electricity for hair dryer costs 1 quid extra.

Campsite

Very impressive. Also kept bar open so we could watch England play football.

Turned out fab in the end

Unfortunately, weather wasn't on our side, so first few nights were very, very windy and rainy. We were saved by moving into one of their lovely pods! Location, staff, facilities were all great and would definitely return again.

Good

Only small gripes were the opening hours of the staffed facilities. Otherwise, a really well presented, equipped and friendly campsite!

4 night stay at Watergate Bay

Lovely location, peaceful with fantastic facilities. Short walk from the beach. Staff friendly but needed more information on check in.

Perfect

Had a great stay with our 5 year old grandson. Swimming pool, good play park and clean.

Cornish break

The site was excellent but had just two slight issues. The Wi-Fi connectivity was very poor. Also getting TV signal was hit and miss.

Clean and tidy with good facilities

Clean and tidy, good facilities, good size pitch, good value, good location with bus connections. Will recommend.

Fantastic

We travel three weeks in every month of the year with our Buccaneer Cruiser and only stay on fully serviced pitches. Watergate Bay Touring Park is absolutely spotlessly clean everywhere. The toilets and showers are 5 star, ideal for couples and especially young families with an indoor swimming pool and large playground facilities. There is a shop for essentials and a huge club bar which serves food on a daily basis. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and maintain the site to very high standards. We will definitely be returning to Watergate Bay Touring Park.

Great stay

Great location, friendly staff and the cleanest site with new toilet blocks. Lovely warm pool - recommend the family pod as plenty of space.

Just amazing!

Great location, just a 10 min walk down the coast path to Watergate (quite steep). Pitches were great, staff friendly and loos always clean. Nice hot showers too!

Convenient distance from great places to eat

Had a lovely stay. Short walk down to the beach and the facilities are great quality.

Good touring park.

The pros were that the site is a good value, excellent site. Good sized pitches. Good, clean amenities. Plenty of showers and toilets. Club house, bar, food, shop, swimming pool, kiddies play area. However, there is an airport close by. This means some noise disturbance from aircraft, mainly from landing during the daytime hours. No night-time flights. Good plane spotting site. Open site without much shelter, so can be breezy. Overall, a good place for a camping holiday, being in a location suitable for day trips out. Convenient for Eden Project and local Newquay surfing beaches. Good family park.

Came home early

Clean site with good toilet/shower facilities. Staff were very friendly. Pitch excellent but pricey for lack of open facilities. Would have expected to pay this for higher season when things were open. Only the pool was open. Only stayed 3 nights as the weather was exceptionally bad. Apparently, it is a very windy site in normal conditions, probably due to it being high up and open on a hill. Short walk to the beach albeit down a very busy road. However, we hadn't seen that it is directly next to the airport. Had I known Newquay even had an airport I wouldn't have booked this site as we found the planes landing above our heads very unnerving.

Excellent service and a really great time

Lovely and clean site. Great facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was quite a way to the beach. We felt it was longer than advertised. Would recommend and stay again.

Fab campsite

This site is lovely. The staff are really helpful and very friendly. Facilities superb and 10/10 for cleanliness. Bus stop right outside of site, which was really handy for exploring the surrounding area. The bar was spacious and the staff were great too. I would recommend to friends and family and would definitely return. The beaches in the area are absolutely lovely and it was a pleasant walk along the coast path to Watergate bay beach. And, of course, the weather being great helped enormously. Brilliant stay.

Lovely place

Lovely place, ideally situated for exploring the local areas. You are under the flight path, but that didn't bother us and they're mainly only during the day. Toilet and shower blocks clean and well serviced. Play area, bar and cafe. All family friendly. Excellent dog walk area with plenty of bins. Cafe/bar was also dog friendly. A quiet site that's suited to couples or families. We stayed as a couple with a dog. Felt very safe and clean. The security gate was a bit of a pain getting back in after 7pm, it never recognised our car reg so had to go into the bar for the code to the gate (which changes daily). However this hasn't put us off. We are going to book to go back next year with our children.

Wonderful Watergate

We stayed for 2 nights on what was probably the worst weather weekend of the summer! I phoned ahead to check the conditions at the site and the staff were friendly and reassuring, and even tried to arrange a more sheltered spot on the site for us. On arrival we were warmly welcomed, and every member of staff I met was helpful and happy. The site was really clean and tidy and had everything we needed. It's a beautiful walk down the coast path to the beach, and only a short drive into Newquay. Would absolutely recommend and happily come back to this site.

Lovely time

My partner and I camped here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Very clean and tidy site with great facilities, friendly staff and amazing views! Only a 15 minute walk to the beach along the coastal path (great spot to watch the sunset), a 10 minute drive into Newquay town and a 5 minute drive into Mawgan Porth. We’re definitely going to book again for next year :)
