VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2025 We stayed for one night and had the loveliest time. Peaceful and in a beautiful location. We really appreciated our own wet room which we have never experienced before. Really friendly and helpful host. We will visit again.

Drive to anywhere as no pavements from the site.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2025 A friend and I recently spent a wonderful 3 nights at the Larches. This was our first time away on a campsite so we were very grateful that it wasn't overcrowded and we were given a choice of pitch.
Judith, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful with answering our questions and giving us lots of information on local sights and eateries. On our first morning we had a flat battery, Judith was available immediately with a jump start pack and got us on our way in no time. We were very grateful for her help.
If you're looking for a peaceful adult only site, in a great location to explore all the different lakes, then look no further. We will definitely be returning, God willing :-)

Large Tent - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches Jun 2025 A quiet site, nice friendly owner. The private bathroom is a nice idea.

Our first camping trip
VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 This site looked like it was good in its heyday. The site seemed a little neglected. However, the owner was very helpful and pleasant.
The showers were nice and clean and all the facilities worked as they should. It was in the middle of nowhere so if you're looking for complete peacefulness, then this is the place for you.
Great stay
Medium Tent - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches May 2025 My wife and I stayed at the Larches for 3 nights so we could visit the northern lakes. The location was perfect for us as everything we wanted was just a short drive away. If you just want to walk to the nearest town then this is not really possible. There is a good bus service though that will pick you up just down the road.
The campsite itself is very peaceful and there was loads of room on our pitch. It was great to have our own shower and toilet. This was immaculately clean and the shower was really hot and powerful.
Judith was a great host. She went out of her way to help and advise us and she was great to have a chat with. She pops around the whole campsite each evening to make sure everyone is ok! This was a really nice personal touch as some campsites we have stayed at you hardly speak to any of the owners. We arrived 2 hours early, just on the off chance we would be able to get on site. Judith went out of her way to get our pitch ready and this meant we were able to go out for the afternoon rather than setting up.
If you want a really peaceful and relaxed campsite in order to explore the lakes than I would definitely recommend.
We have already booked to go back!

Amazing stay and great hospitality
VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 When we arrived we were welcomed by a lovely and very welcoming lady. We had the choice of two pitches which was nice, you got your own shower and toilet cubicle allowing some privacy and no waiting for the toilet. Location was great and some great places to eat nearby. We will definitely be visiting again!

Motorhome - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 The site is remote and dated but clean, good to have your own shower and toilet but with being in a motorhome, another vehicle is needed.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 From the greeting we received we knew this was a great place, the pitch we got was great, over looking the countryside rabbit watching, birds coming for a feed was amazing.
The facilities were immaculate, you get your own personal shower/toilet cubicle which was fantastic, very clean and quiet adults only campsite, gutted we only booked for one, we will be back in the next month or so.

This one offers peace, tranquillity, great views and above all a personal service that is friendly and super helpful. Lots of space and your own individual shower room.
Lots of birdsong and rabbits galore.
Bus stop at the entrance to either Carlisle or Cockermouth.

Medium Tent - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches May 2025 4 days & nights at The Larches. Chosen for being adult only.
This is a gorgeous site. Hosts very welcoming and basically gave us the choice of pitch as we are tent campers & did not request EHU. We chose to pitch on the top field, wide open space and easy to find a flat area. The views are splendid and the weather was scorching. We had the whole field to ourselves for most of our stay. There are water supply taps all over the site so you are never far from one and plenty of refuse areas too.
The dedicated wet room is an absolute clincher as you can just leave whatever you need in there for the duration of your stay and no queuing. Kept very clean and supplied. Be aware: the shower is roasting hot, no temperature control - I like a coolish shower.
Laundry/wash-up room has pot sink, clothes sink, washer, dryer, iron ironing board but a word to the wise for campers (by which I mean people in tents): there is no communal fridge/freezer so nowhere on hot, hot days to freeze your cool blocks so either manage that or bring your freezer and get a hook-up pitch.
We were subjected to traffic noise due to the wind direction and being up high on the top field. It can be a disturbance to the peace & quiet of the site but if pitched on lower ground, don't think it would a bother.
If you like rabbits, you're in for a treat and I think I did get a glimpse of the osprey circling overhead in the pure sunshine. Thanks for a glorious 4 days and we will see you again.
Larches campsite fantastic
VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 The larches was very peaceful clean and a lovely place to stay the owners were lovely and having your own toilet and shower was a big bonus.
You couldn't go wrong in booking this place.
We will definitely be returning.

Medium Tent - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches May 2025 A fantastic one night stay at the Larches. The campsite was so peaceful which is helpful for my dog as he sometimes can bark at noises!
We had a choice of our plot which came with electric and water, helpful in the hot weather! The hosts were lovely, we will be sure to return.

Judith had a warm and friendly welcome and guided us around the site. We were very lucky as Judith allowed us to stay in the top field with the most amazing views over the lakes.
The Campsite was like Watership Down with bunnies every where, which was lovely to watch with a glass of wine. if your looking for a quiet chilled stay this campsite is for you!

Trailer Tent - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches Apr 2025 What a find! A beautifully maintained, peaceful site, and Judith, the host, was so welcoming and helpful. Absolutely loved the private shower rooms.
The views towards Skiddaw from the top field were breath-taking. We cannot wait to come back again.
Fantastic stay
VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 We stayed at the Larches for 4 nights and on arrival, were met by Judith and Chris, who were so friendly.
We had the choice of 2 or 3 pitches as the site was not overcrowded and we also had our own toilet and power shower for the duration of our stay. The site was very clean and well maintained. My husband was even bought a birthday card and the following day Judith phoned to check we got home okay.
There's lots to do in the area and if you're looking for a quiet peaceful spot we don't think you'll find much better. We will definitely be returning next year.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Mar 2025 An ideal site for those who enjoy peace and quiet. Lots to do nearby. The people who run are very attentive, there is also an Aladdin's cave of caravan equipment for sale in the shop.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Grass Pitches Oct 2024 I had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Larches. Judith was a wonderful host and the campsite is a great place to stay. I particularly liked the dedicated bathroom, which was spotlessly clean. I slept like a log :-)
Can't wait to return next year.

Great wash facilities with your own dedicated shower /toilet room, and had a choice of lovely pitches on arrival, I would highly recommend.
