Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 I booked this camp site for a birthday present for my boyfriend and we were absolutely over the moon, staff are amazing and polite. Facilities are clean. The location is absolutely perfect with wasdale lake, scarfell pike, Seascale Beach close by. The strands inn and the sawmill cafe both with amazing food and amazing staff. This was honestly the best camping experience I’ve ever had. The views and scenery surrounding are the cherry on top of the cake !

The site was peaceful with all the facilities you would need. The pub and shop nearby were great too. Located very close to the lake. Amazing view and great value for money.
Would definitely recommend, will be returning.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 A very nice, out of the way campsite, with very nice members of staff and a lovely shop, but the toilets are just not sufficient for the amount of people that were there. Absolutely stunk and always full to the brim, didn't make for a nice experience. Could do with another block somewhere else.
Fantastic price for the peace and quiet though.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 Great site. I wanted to be in Wasdale for a few days so this site was ideally located.
Toilet and shower facilities were fantastic, if a little bit of a walk. Onsite shop was great.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 A great campsite with a beautiful scenery. Was peaceful and quiet and was able to pitch up anywhere within the area I booked, which was good!
Toilets and showers were always clean. The staff were really friendly and everything you would need was accessible on the campsite!

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2025 Lovely site in great setting near Wast Water. Good facilities including the Watermill cafe (5 minutes away by car), run by same owners as site. Nice pub just outside entrance to site that serves excellent food. Plenty of space on site for camping and RVs, also static caravans and shepherds huts available. Wash & toilet block is a bit of a walk (depending on where you are camped), but quite a good size. Could however do with cleaning more than once a day, especially the showers. Staff very friendly.
Lovely location
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2025 Perfect spot for exploring, roughly a mile and a half from the lake.
Quiet pitch, plenty of space with The Saw Mill just down the road (fantastic farm shop and lovely cafe) and The Strands Inn a two minute walk from the site entrance which served us a great meal on the Sunday evening.
My only quibble was that there was nothing for grey waste disposal, unless I missed it but couldn't see anything for it.
Lovely area and staff but very noisy Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2025 The staff and location were great but, unfortunately, "family-friendly" means a lot of noise until 11pm which isn't ideal when you've got very young children who need their sleep.
It felt like a lot of tents in a small area so even moderate chatter was disturbing. Despite this, it felt like a safe and secure space where we could leave our tent for hours at a time. My daughter enjoyed the play area and the on-site pizza van went down a treat after a very long, very wet walk. I had no data at all in the area so be warned if this is a deal breaker.
Brilliant stay with gorgeous views
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2025 Beautiful location! Staff were happy to help where ever they could and the camp was very quiet and peaceful, just what was needed.
Although, the only downside I could say was having a bit of a curfew,with the gate to the site being closed at 10:30pm but it didn't stop us as we could park the car at reception and walk to the tent. We had an overall lovely time! Definitely will visit again!

I stayed as part of a hiking trip so appreciated the clean showers, nice handy shop and the fact there's a cracking pub nearby.
The Sawmill down the road was also handy for breakfast. I'll be staying there again next time I'm in the area.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2025 This place was so lovely they were so accommodating, we stayed in a perfect pitch with a perfect view of the mountains.
The facilities were great, cleaned every day, hot showers and plenty of toilets so never any waiting. Very easy to get around, to drive in and out. The value for money was decent, but mostly as expected considering how lovely the area is.
Unfortunately no fridges available, but freezers for ice blocks available so those with coolers can use them.
Reception charged phones during the day for about a £1 each time, and reception had a little store with all you could need, and a cafe and ice cream bit.
Overall, a lovely place with a very homely feel and would certainly go back again!
Great location and great site
Jun 2025 What a great find. First of all very helpful staff, found it a little hard to book for 2 motorbikes with 2 tents. So rang up and the very helpful Lucy sorted it out for me. Travelled up and was very welcomed by a lovely smile and passed on great knowledge of the area for us to go riding. We had a lovely spotless flat field to camp on, quite a walk to the toilet block but not a problem as it was a really quiet spot.
Toilets were cleaned regular and quite spacious with showers you don't pay for, which I found a real bonus. Also, dish washing facilities around the back of them and a room for laundry and a freezer for your cool blocks, which we found great. It meant we didn't have to drink warm beer around the tent. Another great feature was that the main gate is locked at night so no unwanted visitors could drive on, this made us feel secure with the motorcycles.
Another great feature was The Strands pub, a 2 minute walk. A great old pub with guest ales and good food and great friendly staff. A little bit pricey but so, isn't everything these days? But gets packed, so nip in in the afternoon and reserve a table for peace of mind.
All in all, a great and memorable stay and would highly recommend to anyone. Fantastic location for travelling and walking with jaw dropping scenery all around. Will we go again? Most certainly will.

A very spacious and well thought out campsite
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2025 There are a variety of pitches in a number of fields each with a water tap for drinking and cooking, catering for all manner of campers. The reception has the essentials you may have forgotten to pack and there is a good toilet and washing block including laundry facilities. The site's location is ideal for exploring, with easy access to the Western Lakes and the coast. I greatly enjoyed my stay and not only do I recommend the campsite to others but I fully intend to return at sometime in the future.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Site was lovely, very picturesque with the mountain backdrop and woodland surrounding. The site was clean and well maintained. Bathroom facilities a bit dated but that being said, they were clean and fully working.
Really enjoyed our stay and would defo return.
Great family place
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches May 2025 We stayed for two nights over the last weekend in May and it was perfect for what we were looking for. Wide open camping in lush fields with convenient access to bathroom, dish washing station, and laundry room. There are separate fields better suited for different types of groups which is perfect.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Very helpful and friendly staff. Overall, great facilities and with two nearby pubs. The only two less positive things were cleanliness at times not great, but it is very difficult to fault staff as they did their best.
Hot water was too hot at times so the only thing to improve really. Otherwise, we have a great stay and would recommend it!

Friendly clean camping trip
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches May 2025 Had a really lovely stay here, we booked to climb Scafell Pike which is only 15/20 minutes away.
The facilities were all very clean and we had a clean drinking tap on our pitch. The place is fairly small, so everything is easily walkable (washing up area, toilets, showers) Showers don't cost extra and are lovely and hot too.
Really lovely staff when you check in, they are super friendly and make it an easy stay.
The only thing we struggled with was at 2am someone started playing club music (no idea who) and this is a strictly quiet camping area, but after around an hour it went off. Think this is pretty unusual and whoever it was, hope they got rained on the next day!

Need more privacy for toilets. Not comfortable sharing with many other people. Moderately clean but only cleaned once a day.
Staff were lovely particularly in shop and reception. Lovely quiet site with pub at the entrance.

Perfect base for Scafell and Wast Water
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 Perfect spot surrounded by beautiful scenery, this was the perfect base for kayaking and paddle boarding on Wast Water. Enough facilities for us as a couple, which were clean and well kept.
Plenty of space between pitches. The couple running the site were very friendly and welcoming. We'll be coming here again.
