Great location and campsite

Overall, this is a great campsite with very good amenities. The showers and washing facilities were exceptionally clean — apart from one occasion when a group of Duke of Edinburgh girls left the ladies' area in a poor state, flooding the sinks and showers and leaving them dirty.
A major concern, however, was the extremely high water temperature in the showers. The thermostats or system seemed to be set far too hot, with scalding water coming out immediately upon turning them on. It was nearly impossible to regulate the temperature to a comfortable level. This presents a serious health and safety risk and needs urgent attention. I reported this issue to reception on Thursday, 3rd July 2025.
The campsite is set on a working farm in a beautiful rural location, but do be aware that it lies under a flight path (possibly from Manchester Airport), so aircraft noise is noticeable. There's also some traffic noise from the nearby road, although this tends to fade into the background over time.
That said, the electric hook-up and water tap at each pitch were very conveniently located and provided a constant, reliable supply — which was excellent and much appreciated.

Lovely stay
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2025 This is a lovely campsite in a great location right on the High Peak Trail. Lots to do by car or bike or walking. Excellent clean facilities and fresh milk and delicious ice cream on site. Farm animals also on site - a lovely bonus for children. Pub with great food 20-30 min walk.
The only thing that was odd is that all the campers were allocated in one small shady corner of the campsite. It was not busy and all the lovely open plots in the sunshine and those with lovely views on the lower field were empty. I would be put off staying here again unless we were able to choose our plot. Strange management of an empty campsite.

A slightly tilted view
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2025 The campsite was lovely and the facilities very good. Only a short drive away from Buxton and Bakewell and a little longer to Caselton. Well placed site for walking the Derbyshire dales with the High Peak trail, a disused former railway, accessible from the campsite.
The only slight downside to the weekend was the non-electric camping field is on a slight slope. Those wanting peace and quiet after a certain time should be wary that there is a quarry only 5 mins down the road from the site that appears to run well into the evening. We may have been unlucky, but we were also disturbed by what sounded likes jets taking off from whatever military base may be in the vicinity.

Beautiful campsite
Small Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2025 Such a wonderful experience at the site. The pitches were well spaced out and facilities are top notch.
Bathrooms clean, warm, and plenty of showers and cubicles to accommodate the site. Hot hot water in the showers which is much appreciated after a long day in the rain! Enclosed dog walking field was useful for the dogs in the late-evening for a quick trot before bed. Wash up area has plenty of space and hot water, and bins, water, and ash disposal all very convenient and clean. Overall an immaculately kept site who have thought of everything you could need.
The team are friendly and very helpful; fresh milk, and farm eggs collected that day for sale. The shop is very well stocked with supplies for the little things you forget to bring. Site has a farm with gorgeous happy friendly farm animals, for just £1 you can buy feed for the goats and pigs.
Well situated for the most popular walks in the Peak District and close to the necessities (shops and pubs!).
The best camping experience, cannot fault the site at all.

Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 We stayed here in our motorhome on a grass pitch but was actually hard standing and had a grass area. Fully serviced at the pitch with electric and water. The site was kept clean and was a wonderful experience. The shower/toilet blocks were immaculate and had underfloor heating. The toilets were big enough for you to get changed in, equally so was the shower cubicle. Well equipped area.
They also had a petting area with various small animals. A large field area to play games in so not to disturb or hit any other campers. There was also a very large fully enclosed Dog exercise field, which is a brilliant idea. A path just off the dog enclosure area took you too a very nice pub, 30-45 mins walk on a gravel path straight to it.
The reception/shop was handy to purchase ice cream made from their own cows on site. You can also purchase various items for your abode.
This is definitely a must to stay at, and we will be returning very soon. Well done on all the hard work to make this camp site amazing, affordable and clean

Lovely little site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Stayed here with my 3 year old in a non electric pitch.
Cute little farm, sells homemade ice creams and fresh milk in the vending machine which we used for breakfast cereal. My son also loved feeding the goats with the feed from the shop (costs £1).
Visited Bakewell and the heights of Abraham / Matlock and did some scenic little walks. Showers and facilities are clean and warm which was welcome on the chilly evenings and mornings.
All in all a great stay and would recommend!

Secure dog field and fire pit hire were great. Good location next to the high peak trail which you can join from the campsite and walk to a pub in Hurdlow - great food there at The Royal Oak.

Great campsite
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Great site, facilities mostly clean. Ladies' room could have been topped up with toilet roll and cleaned, but not enough of an issue to knock down, more constructive criticism.
We didn't bring our children this time but will absolutely visit again with them, reception were helpful and informative on local walks and facilities.
Would 100 percent recommend for families or couples. We look forward to returning.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2025 From the start, we had an amazing stay. All the staff were very helpful, from booking in on the first day, explaining everything as it was our first time at a campsite, to recommending places to go.
The campsite was lovely and clean, so were the wash and shower block. The shop had everything that you might have forgotten and the ice creams were lovely,
Well are looking forward to going back in the near future.

Facilities were new and really clean. Men's showers were sometimes cold. Lovely hot water for dish washing. Loved the animals on site and the milk vending machine. Brilliant to be able to walk straight onto the High Peak Trail and to walk to the Royal Oak pub for some lovely food and great atmosphere.
Will definitely be back!
