Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Oct 2023 The site in general very nice and clean. Only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the food. I think they need to employ a proper cook, who will cook proper food from raw ingredients. Pizza frozen from market and burgers, well only the bun and burger, no tomato, onion etc. They could add £1 to the price and add these ingredients which would be simple.
Very picturesque, some shortcomings that would make it 5* Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Oct 2023 The positives. Very good value for money. Reception team and site maintenance are a very friendly bunch. Great facilities for families with children offering well maintained park play equipment, 2 swimming pools and a games room with a pool table. Entertainment most evenings even in low season. The toilet and shower block was spotlessly clean and the access for disabled guests is great. Some nice touches like hands free on/off for the sink taps.
Negatives were that some areas of the site are immediately beneath overhead power cables and close proximity to towers. The shop was poorly stocked at times. It's a shame that local produce such as sausages, bacon, cheese etc isn't stocked. It doesn't help that the closest food shop is a few miles away, so more reason to cater for guests. On the first day, there were no vegetables, fruit, bread or milk. The following day there was bread and a few more frozen items but inadequate if you were relying on the shop to provide healthy meals for the week. If you wanted stuffed crust pepperoni pizza every night, you're in luck.
The restaurant was a major disappointment. The food was slow to arrive and the quality of the items was mediocre. When you spend £14.99 for the Whitehill Burger, you expect it's going to be premium. No such luck as it was
two patties with onion and other ingredients. The lettuce was limp and the relish sparse. The fries were ok but the onion rings were overcooked and almost inedible. The burger meal was supposed to come with coleslaw but that was missing and no mention was made. My wife chose the Chicken Korma and she said it wasn't like any Korma she's had before, with a very sweet taste and not very pleasant. The rice was more of a congealed lump as if it had been kept under a heat source, giving it a hard crust on top. Two meals with a drink came to £38.
The next evening, having had a poor experience at the restaurant, we thought we would try the takeaway. My wife ordered and paid for a £11.99 ham and mushroom pizza. After 5 minutes, someone from the kitchen came out to say there were no mushrooms. Not offering any alternative or a discount for not having all the ingredients my wife asked for a refund. After the missing coleslaw and overcooked food the evening before, you don't get a great vibe. It was a major disappointment that we couldn't rely on any of the sites food outlets for a complete meal.
The approach to the site isn't great as Stoke Road is very narrow on many places with blind corners. It's also extremely busy at most times, not just rush hour or school runs. The road noise near the fully serviced pitches was disturbing.
In summary then, it could be a great place to stay if you can avoid a pitch under the high voltage cables and away from the busy Stoke Road. More importantly, I think that the site owners would have more happy guests if the shop was better stocked with fresh and frozen food for "All paying guests" not just crisps, sweets and alcohol. Our experience of the restaurant and takeaway were disappointing to say the least. It could be a goldmine if the food lived up to the premium price charged.
Great stay at Whitehill Recommends site
Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2023 Great stay. Clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay and will be back in the spring.
Very good site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2023 This is a excellent site for walking your dog, both on site and off. The dog shower is a nice touch.
The bar staff made us feel very welcome and the food was excellent. The facilities were good but the light timer in the gents' was a bit short.
The only downside was that a grass pitch this time of year gets muddy, but then we had a lot of rain. Maybe a few more hard standing pitches would help.
All in all, a very good site and we would recommend it.
Short break mid week Recommends site

Great campsite Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Jun 2023 Stayed here in a campervan with a friend. Great campsite, very friendly and would look to bring the family. Walked into Paignton, which was a bit of a trek on foot, but there is a bus service I believe.
Lovely family site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Jun 2023 Great stay at this lovely site. Our 2 year old loved playing in the outdoor pool, which was surprisingly warm for the UK!
Plenty of space, nice clean facilities and the bar/restaurant served good beer and food!
Short drive to lots of beaches too!
Our visit to Devon Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Our first visit to Devon in 30 years. Handy bus stop near the campsite. Was good that site has food and a pub, because it's a bit remote. Ladies toilets are excellent, but showers need refurbishing.
One night stop over Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Lovely site. You have to pay to use indoor pool but outside pool and bubble pool are free, albeit a little cold for being heated, but nice once in. Pool needs cleaning out regularly throughout the day. Shower block needs a bit of modernization as you have to hold shower button in to get water.
The toilet and sink facilities are more modern. Very clean tidy toilet showers and site. Good washing up area. Dining experience was lovely.
Booked a second holiday whilst we were there Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Jun 2023 Really good campsite- clean, with good facilities, good pools and really nice staff.
Nice enough Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 A pleasant site but lacking in character. Facilities excellent. Very clean all the time. Hot water in the showers 5*, roomy cubicles & powerful jets with long running times. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Would've liked to use the outdoor pool. It was closed but looked very tempting. Enjoyable walk from the back of the site into Stoke Gabriel and back.
Nice quiet campsite Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Nov 2022 Arrived at 5.20 pm - rang ahead to say we would be later than 5 and was informed to head to the swimming pool. We were given our pitch number, we then spent nearly an hour looking for our pitch. The lighting was not very good, and it wasn't clear or easy to find the numbering. Fortunately, another camper helped us find our pitch. Maybe in daylight we may have been able to get our bearings better.
The views are stunning, and location is very convenient. Great indoor swimming pool, although we had to pay extra to use it when we have already paid to stay. We felt it should have been included like other campsites we have stayed at, which have been many.
Clean toilets and showers.
Would recommend to lots of other campers and families and would like to stay again.
Hidden gem Recommends site

4 night stay Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2022 Nice, clean place to go. Good WIFI coverage. TV a little hit and miss and access in and out of the site is on the main road. Worth the visit. Thankyou.
Will definitely be going back Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2022 Great campsite. We will definitely be going back. Facilities were great but a real shame that the toilet and shower blocks let it down. Really not good, but everything else was great.
Short break Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2022 Lovely site, clean and tidy, good facilities.
Didn't get a chance to try the outside pool, but it looked lovely and was surprisingly warm to the hand. Tried the indoor pool which costs extra and for us, was just a bit too cold - probably fine for keen swimmers though. Pleasant surroundings, easy bus ride into Paignton, 20-minute walk to Stoke Gabriel with its 2 pubs and a great coffee shop on the River estuary.
We will be back :-)
Campervan review Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2022 The pitch we stayed on had a slope, even with high chocks for our campervan it still wasn't level.
