Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2023 Great value for the money. Very friendly and make you feel very welcome.
Our stay Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2023 The pitch is very small, our tent only just fitted the pitch. There was only 1 male toilet for the whole of the tent area and that was a rickety old portacabin. We didn't use the bar, but we could hear it all the way till 2am.
The location is good though (proximity to Swanage).
Amazing location, tired facilities
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 The location is great, lovely walk through signposted field to Swanage beach. Very close to Herston Halt train station and bus stop isn't too far either.
While we were there the site didn't feel very family friendly. Of course it's a risk you take when camping but lots of places have started to divide their site into quiet/not quiet or have spaces for young families.
There weren't many washing up facilities or toilets, I felt they were both very tired and in need of updating and that the site generally looked very run down. The guy greeting was perfectly pleasant but no site map, no label to tie to the tent, no info.
I think there are better sites but if you need cheap, functional and good location, this is fine.
Good location for walking into Swanage Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 Fantastic location, nice camping field. Facilities were adequate, toilets/showers were clean. However, there would not be enough if campsite was full.
Overall impression of site was that it looked a little scruffy. Facilities are old and tired and could do with some upgrading. Area around refreshment van was scruffy. Nice to have a bar and shop on site.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Made to feel very welcome by staff. Very quiet location. Only 15 minutes to the beach and shops using pathway.
Weekend getaway Sprinter-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jun 2023 Last minute weekend getaway. Managed to book a superior fully service pitch. Nice and level combination of hard standing and grass. Toilets and showers seemed dated and I felt that there were not enough for the number of campers in main camping area. Mostly shower and toilet in same cubicle, so not great when full of people having showers.
On the first night we tried contacting someone at 3am on the emergency numbers as a water pipe had burst and gallons of water was being pumped feet into the air over someone's pitch and we couldn't sleep due to the noise. The mobile number provided on the pitch wouldn't even ring and the emergency extension just went to a voicemail. Eventually someone turned up about 6ish to fix it.
Bar on site is okay and offers some music/karaoke and there is a carvery on a Sunday. Little shop stocked most essentials. Apart from that the stay was ok and great views in the sun with the steam train whistling by in the valley from time to time. We were going to try brekkie from the on site food bar before we left Sunday morning but they had run out of eggs and seemed to be struggling to deal with orders so we left it.

Tired and needs some TLC VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 Firstly the location, great for Swanage, Studland, Corfe Castle. Downsides, the site is very tired and needs some TLC. The shower and toilet facilities need a good clean and the site just needs a tidy up.
It did the job, but could be so much better with a little more effort put into it.
Extremely disappointing stay Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 Unkempt, scruffy and a little tired looking. The bar and restaurant were not open during our stay (which was not advertised). Overall a very poor site. Disappointing, as it could be real gem.
Great location for walk into Swanage. Great views but site is looking and feeling a little unloved.
All you need from a campsite
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 Good location, although the band is the grass pitch, "Seaview", was misleading as I couldn't see the sea.
Facilities were great, good condition and clean.
Our pitch was fairly level and the ground wasn't hard or stoney so good for getting the tent pegs in.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 We stayed here for 2 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend.
It was a last minute booking for us and the first time we'd stayed there. There was a mix up with our pitch number but they were great and let us stay where we'd set up.
The facilities are quite tired but hey, it's camping isn't it. The little shop didn't have an extensive range of things to buy but you could buy the essentials.
The staff were very welcoming. We will probably return at some point.
Short break
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Nov 2022 We stayed here for 3 nights to try out our new campervan. The toilets and showers are looking tired but fairly clean. After pushing the button in the shower five times, the hot water came through lovely. Difficult to keep clean in the winter.
Staff friendly and very helpful. Lovely walks into Swanage with the dog - take your wellies as the fields are quite muddy, to be expected with the weather we had.

Great stay Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2022 A very enjoyable stay at Herstons. I read the previous reviews about cleanliness in the toilets but it's a campsite not a five-star hotel and they were perfectly adequate, on the whole I had hot water!
The main field for the tents was picturesque with a nice open feel. The pitches were fairly closely allocated but there was still adequate room between them for privacy.
Perfectly located for Swanage, a very pleasant mile walk takes you through fields & town to the seafront.
Overall, the campsite had a good feel with a good bar and shop onsite. Staff very friendly.
What a shame
Motorhome - Laurels Hardstanding Electric Pitches Sep 2022 Pitch great and easy access to town. Toilets and shower block in need of large amount of work in both ladies and men's. With a bit of work it would make a great difference

Some of showers only had cold to tepid water. Toilets where not always clean. Maps to sites could be clearer and could have more illustration. Some cubicles had been unfortunately vandalised. Would have been nice to see some security people on the site, this may help some issues. No play area for small children
Wouldn’t book again. Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Location is excellent walking distance from Swanage. The site was okay, not the best and not the worst. We stayed on Seaview with an electric hookup. It's very big site and the Seaview site is way off from the park and is too far for children to walk independently to safely. This was disappointing. No park in actual camping area. Could do with a tree swing!
There was only one men's loo, against three in the ladies. It was often messy with a wet floor. Facilities are okay but could be better kept. Our patch was so close to burger van so it was smelly and noisy. Campsite was noisy until late and very little for kids to do as the park is so far from the Seaview campsite. Probably wouldn't head there again.
It's more for longer term let's. This is what the site is set up for predominantly.

Only thing letting this place down is the cleanliness. Toilets and shower rooms in need of attention and cleaning more regularly.

Twin Axle Caravan - Large Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2022 Campsite looks quite scruffy overall but it was the end of season. Lots of permanent residents I would think that need to tidy their plots up. Lovely friendly staff and good amenities, would go back.
So disappointed Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2022 Sadly this site was overcrowded with too few basic facilities (i.e. toilets, showers and washing up areas). I had to queue for a toilet even at 7am.
The toilet and shower areas were filthy and stinking. I had to pull fistfuls of hair out of the bottom of the shower before the water would drain away - yuck 🤢 All pretty shocking. Perhaps I should have taken photos. The toilets in the town car park and Studland Bay beach were far cleaner.
I felt that the price per night for a bell tent was steep and I was expecting something nicer. I wouldn't return and would alert others to do their homework and scroll down through reviews.
Nice area Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Really beautiful area and surroundings, a very lovely town and beach so nearby.
The issue was the toilets. I thought they were really poorly cleaned and I didn't feel very comfortable using them. I felt like they were very quickly cleaned in the morning and then left which wasn't great when so many people were staying. Could have done with a good clean at least twice a day.
Staff amazing Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 The staff were amazing but the facilities were far from clean. The toilets on the camping field were one of the worst I have seen with no hot water or soap or towels. The showers were so dirty that I had to clean them before using them. The staff were helpful but that didn't even up the condition of the facilities.
The site has potential but it needs a bit of TLC.
