Lovely, back to basics campsite

Very nice campsite on spacious, laid out plots with clean facilities. Only met Liz who seemed lovely and very helpful, even giving us permission to pick some blackberries in the field (in the end we forgot, but the thought was there 😀) Even though no electric, we could use a little shed with plugs in free of charge if needed. Nice walk through a couple of fields to get to the pub. Our first camping trip together and we thoroughly enjoyed it even with a storm during the night. Thank you Liz and Graham, we will be back x

Fabulous, friendly site

A very warm welcome and great service throughout our stay. Facilities were spotless and well equipped.

Peaceful stay

Great place to stay, and well positioned to get out around Kent, some good village pubs close by. Site is well managed and maintained - lovely stay. 👍

Lovely little, quiet campsite in a beautiful location

Very clean, basic toilet and shower block. Friendly and helpful staff. Great, basic campsite, perfect location for walking.

Hi Emily, thanks for your lovely review. Our intention has always to keep it simple and basic, a sort of retro campsite inspired by 1970's camping. We get regulars that have been camping with us since 2007 when we opened, we listen to their comments and have decided to keep it this way. We are proud that we regularly clean and re-stock toilet rolls and hand soap and that many reviews have mentioned that. Thank you for camping with us.

Peaceful

It was absolutely lovely to stay here. It was so peaceful and just perfect for somewhere to set up camp for the weekend. My only recommendation would be to add more toilets to avoid the morning queues, but other than that, absolutely perfect.

We would try and book this site if in the area again

The owners were very nice, friendly and welcoming. The site was well spaced with good size pitches, clean and well kept. There was a nice little information hut with a freezer to put freeze blocks in and the ability to charge your mobiles or chargers, which was very handy. There was a facility block at the entrance end with 2x shower rooms, a large disabled wash/shower room, 2x wash basin rooms, 2x toilet rooms with wash basins (don't forget a towel to dry your hands) and 2x washing up stations, which were all kept very clean and tidy. The wash basin rooms did have hooks near the sinks but could have benefitted from a shelf to put things on. My personal dislike was there were no barriers, whereby if the doors of the rooms were left open, you could see straight in. Not nice having a toilet on view, especially when the lids and seats have been left up. If you were at the top end of the site, it was a long walk to the toilet block and I also felt that had the site have been at full capacity, there were not enough toilet/wash facilities and you would have been queuing.

Lovely, quiet campsite

A lovely, quiet campsite with a nice vibe. Walking distance from a local pub and all the facilities were clean and tidy. Only drawback the freezer is for freezer blocks only, so no food storage facilities on site.

Lovely campsite

Lovely campsite, lots of room and well maintained - perfect for families and couples alike.

Comfortable site in scenic area

We've never stayed at this site before, and always gone for electric hook up, but on this occasion we opted for electric free- a bit of 'back to basics' with the luxury of toilet/shower facilities on site. The campsite is ideally located for pleasant hikes in the Kent Downs, with suggested walks and maps provided. The site is clean, tidy and well maintained with plenty of room to pitch and park a car next to the tent. Toilets, showers and washing up area are very clean. The owner was very friendly and helpful on our arrival making check in fuss free. The site was quiet, which we understand is how it is here at the present time, which although the quietness suited us, is a shame because this site deserves custom. The local village pub is an easy 10 minute walk away, serving good food and drinks with a friendly welcome. Overall, a very pleasant 2 night stay on a site that had everything we wanted/needed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campsite. It was perfect for a short get away from home. The facilities were very clean and the staff were very friendly! We ventured out for a meal at the Chequers where they serve delicious food!
