A hidden gem

I must admit when we turned up we just thought it was a field on the top of a hill.....but what a field! Great views, lovely long drop toilets (never thought I'd write that!) and a very nice shower.

Great campsite! Beautiful location and we really enjoyed our stay!

Great simple site

Great site, nice and simple. Positives; generous pitches, relaxed check in, clean toilets, covered area to escape the tent, great view of the countryside. Negatives; most of the pitches are a bit sloped and could do with a sink or something to wash up in.

Nice view but feel not suitable for young families

The listing is accurate & this site is a back to basics camping experience. We had moments of joy here but do feel like we were missing some bits. There was no sink for handwashing, which was fine for basics, but one cubicle had no sanitiser and the sprays for the composting toilet didn't work. We had no hot water for washing dishes, again basic, so some people wouldn't mind. The swing set was broken which meant our children swung at funny angles on it and hit body parts off the frames regularly. Again, fine, kids get bumps they are outdoorsy but meant they had little independence. The sandpit was filled with water and unusable. If you weren't with kids, all probably manageable. We found the weather compounded these things and left early.

Great space for families!

Happened to be the only ones there, but it was perfect! Great location and views were amazing. Huge space for dog and kids to roam 😊

Exactly what was advertised. The Tipi was fantastic, even in the wind and rain. 10 minutes drive to Banff and gorgeous beaches. Beautiful remote setting. Peace & quiet. A great experience.

Great little campsite, secluded, peaceful, with great views

The shower surprised me as it was warm. Location is secluded, but up on a hill with gorgeous views. The sunset was glorious. The communal fire pit was used by a large group from 4pm onwards until past midnight so we went and bought our own one as we didn't bring our stove. They were having a great time, but it meant no one else could use it. So advise bringing your own little stove or fire pit as everyone else had done. Firewood readily available in the woods. Natural toilet was fab. Very clean. We will return here for a 1 or two night stay again for sure. The already erected tipis looked fab! The dogs also loved the big space to chase their ball in.

A nice site, fine views and good facilities

A nice site, with fine views of the countryside and good facilities at a reasonable price. Very nice views from this site, which is positioned quite high and adjacent to a small forest which provided firewood as well as shelter from the wind. The toilets were very clean & tidy, and glad they are very natural (compostable) toilets which are better for environment. The shower on site was lovely! Warm enough to have a nice shower, with a natural blow dry from the breeze coming through at your feet and above your head! There is a really handy "poly tunnel" shelter in the centre of the site, with a firepit nearby which we cooked on every night. It was lovely, and firewood plentiful from the adjacent forest. The tent itself was roomy, but did leak a wee bit. It did rain quite heavily though! The location of the site was nice, although not close enough to any towns to be walking distance. One thing that might improve the site would be to have some trees on the Eastern border of the site. These would shelter the tents from the wind & rain, which can be quite strong due to the elevated position of the site. Overall experience was really good.

Camping in a peaceful location, beautiful views over the country and close to Portsoy and Banff.

Stunning countryside

Lovely campsite, very peaceful and stunning views day and night. Toilet facilities clean and well supplied. 5 min drive to beautiful Portsoy, 15 min to Macduff and Banff. Very good location. Breathtaking beaches and views.

Lovely campsite

Very nice and pieceful location, with toilet, water and shower. Swings and sand pit for children. Will come back again.

Beautiful place

Highly recommend the campsite. It is located within a short driving/cycling distance from local villages and amenities, yet in the country idyll. We had a lovely stay, perfect place to finish a busy day spent surfing and paddleboarding at Sandend. The shower at the campsite was great, we felt refreshed to get rid of all the sand and salt. There is a cute little playground, complete with its own sandpit and swings. It was fun and a good experience for children to get involved with lighting the fire pit, cooking dinner and breakfast. Thank you very much.

Good stay

Good stay, very quiet and clean toilet.

Very pleasant, a bit overpriced for the facilities

Nice location and very spacious. No midges! We were lucky as there were only a handful of people there. If it was busy, I don't think it would be great. Very hard to find a level pitch despite the spaciousness. And only one toilet! The shower was appreciated. Priced in line with other sites that have normal toilets and showers, with dishwashing facilities, so I think a bit overpriced. Recommend only for those who are ok with the facilities.
