About the site

The unique accommodation will ensure you have a great tale to tell! Each static bus has its own private garden area, ensuring you will have a peaceful stay, and it's all within 30 minutes of Edinburgh. Guests can easily pop out and visit the city for the day, but also escape the hustle and bustle of city life back at base. Eco buses offer an exciting alternative to camping and give you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors without the hassle of setting up a tent! The six eco buses sleep two, four or six, each with a wood-burning stove, fire pit/BBQ and private hot tub. This will be a holiday you will never forget. The fun of sleeping in a magical bus is not to be missed! Your glamping spot will be kitted out with comfy beds, sofas and more. No doubt kids (and big kids) will be irresistibly drawn to the driver's seat for a fantasy ride. Staying in an eco bus provides a proper back-to-nature break as the buses have no power, are lit with the gentle glow of lantern lighting, and have private eco loos nearby. If you're looking for a touch of glam, choose one of the three luxury buses sleeping two, four or six. The handcrafted interior will be fitted with a king-size bed and bunk beds for the extra guests (bedding and towels are included). Plus, your bus haven will have its own kitchen, complete with a hob, oven, kettle, toaster and a fridge/freezer. A log stove will keep you toasty, and there's a fabulous ensuite with a rainfall shower head and luxury toiletries for that hotel room feel. Free WiFi is provided in the luxury buses too. Outside your luxury glamping spot, there's a spacious private lawn with seating and your own wood fired hot tub, plus space for that essential campfire for nights under the starlit sky. Four-legged friends are welcome to join you for your glamping getaway, with up to two allowed in each bus.

The kitchen bus, also known as 'BOB', consists of a fridge, hobs, gas ovens, kettles, and kitchen utensils, a great place for socialising in the warm, cooking, playing board games, and more!

A note from the site themselves...

Our recycled and hand-crafted units are located on a working farm where guests can enjoy stunning views of the Lammermuir Hills, in the stunning East Lothian countryside. Our main goal is to provide you with an unhurried pace of life and a hearty Scottish welcome

You will be staying on our working arable farm, and during your stay, you will be able to witness the day-to-day running of our farm. The farm is home to alpacas, horses, sheep and chickens, so there are also plenty of great photo opportunities and friendly animals for you to meet!

Fantastic stay at The Bus Stop

We booked our stay after watching Scotland’s Greatest Escapes series 2 where The Bus Stop came top of the budget friendly category and runners up overall. We booked the double decker Luxury bus no.3 for 4 x adults and were absolutely delighted. While the attraction for us was the unique & quirky experience, it certainly did not lack in both comfort & style. The ingenuity of the design is amazing with brilliant proportions in all spaces. The finishing is top notch, giving a hotel experience. The privacy of the garden & hot tub with outstanding views of the Lammermuir hills was the cherry on top, watching the deer in the fading afternoon sunlight. We also booked tea & scones with the Pygmy goats as an added extra - what a brilliant experience. Kelly was so welcoming and looked after us so well. The goats were so friendly and were definitely a highlight of our trip. We took the opportunity to investigate the local area during our stay driving 30 mins to Dunbar, visiting the beautiful harbour & town…visiting Drift cafe at Bass Rock for views and The Old Post Office cafe in Tyninghame for lunch. Definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful part of the world & a stay at The Bus Stop at Bankrugg Farm is an absolute must…. good value for money, lovely people, beautiful location & 10/10 accommodation…what’s not to like???

Glamping - Eco Buses (Two Person)Aug 2025

What a great find! Stayed in Ecobus 1 for 2 nights - was comfy, clean, quirky and very relaxing. Hot tub was fab, sitting looking at the views with a few cocktails 🍸 was just fantastic. Well organised, good self catering facilities etc. Stayed in August, so high season, but it was sooo quiet and peaceful, with the bus feeling like no-one else could overlook you - a great place, would recommend it!
