A note from the site themselves...

We're Chris and Gordon, and we've been business partners here in Shropshire for over 35 years. We bought Cartref Caravan and Camping back in 2016, and it's been an amazing journey ever since!

The site itself has been welcoming campers since the 1970s, but when we took over, we wanted to make it our own. Each year, we've made little changes to keep improving the place and making it even better for our guests, and we're still going!

We're really proud of our brilliant team here at Cartref. They're always around to lend a hand, whether it's helping you with an awning or pointing you towards a great local walk or day out. "Cartref" means "Home" in Welsh, and that's exactly how we want you to feel while you're here - relaxed, comfortable, and completely at ease.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches with Grass AreaAug 2025

Set in quiet Shropshire, this site has lots going for it. The toilet block was very clean and modern, with ample facilities. Pitches are well spaced out and afford you decent privacy, although where we were was also the main thoroughfare to the toilet block and shop/bar, so there were frequently passers by. I imagine, for most, that this wouldn't be an issue but it did mean our 3 dogs never settled! On the subject of dogs; the flushable poo bags provided are a great idea and mean that no one has to contend with a smelly dog poo bin. The dog exercise area was adequate, although be aware that smaller dogs can get out the back and bigger dogs can jump the fence. This happened to us. Having said that, it's not the sites fault! The shop was well stocked and staff were incredibly helpful. We didn't sample the bar but many people seemed quite happy socialising in there so it must be good! If you're looking for a peaceful stay, I would recommend this site.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches with Grass AreaAug 2025

A wonderful site. Great facilities. Toilets, showers lovely and clean. On site shop and bar for an evening drink. Site staff lovely. Huge thumbs up to Mark. He was excellent. The pitch sizes are wonderful and very private. We stayed on pitch 13. A short drive into Shrewsbury from the site. Approx 10 minutes large coop at Bicton Heath on the way if you need to do a big shop. A small dog walking field and they also provide you with bags to use in their doggy toilet! Fully serviced pitch too which is a huge bonus. We will definitely be back. Thank you Cartref.
