Motorhome - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeAug 2025

Large pitch, orange 22, no dogs, fine. Great facilities for families. Reception staff and warden pleasant and helpful. Good shop on site. Unfortunately, some of the pitches from the entrance towards the back end did not look like a holiday campsite and more a permanent home campsite, which did not make the site look attractive. Toilet blocks need modernising and not as clean as they could be. All rubbish bins full to overflowing. Maybe consider opening an adult bar at night; we had to leave the site to get a quiet early evening drink.

Beautiful place to stay

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Gravel and Grass Super Pitches (Red Area, Unit C)Aug 2025

A last minute booking, after reading the reviews I came with low expectations and was not wrong. The initial appearance of the site from the approach road actually raised my hopes, but not for long. The reception staff were very helpful and could not be faulted - the same applies to the staff in the on-site shop. We could not believe the grim state of the site. The only positives being that, unusually, you could drive onto your pitch with the electric and water points ideally located. The pitch itself was scruffy with weeds and grass which would have benefited from tidying up. We didn't use the shower/toilet block. The overwhelming smell of drains was enough to put us off, along with the generally tired, grubby appearance. The pot washing area followed the same grotty appearance. Overall, the site is scruffy. I never saw any maintenance or pitch tidying going on during our stay. One of the neighbouring pitches had rubbish left on it from the previous occupants and it was still there when we left. No one, including the staff, on the noisiest buggies known to man observe any speed limits and drive round the site too fast, regardless of the children playing. It really is a case of each to their own and the families with children seemed happy enough. Obviously, if the children are kept happy and occupied with the on site entertainment then that is a win. It wasn't for us and we won't be returning.

Great little place

Single Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Aug 2025

Great camp and really friendly wardens who help you to set your pitch up the best way. The shop and bar prices are very reasonable and the mini golf is great for the kids.

Amazing find!

Medium Tent - Large Non Electric Grass Pitches (Tent Field, Unit A plus)Aug 2025

Booked last minute & booked the wrong dates! Discovered en route there, luckily Kath on reception sorted my mistake much to our relief (3 kids in the car excited about camping). Easy check in, secure - you can't get on site unless car is registered. Very organised. Fields laid out in colours. Headed to our pitch and a member of staff pointed out our boundary. We'd read the reviews - the ground is hard. We'd just bought bigger pegs. Toilet/shower block within easy reach. As were lamas and a play ground (separate obvs!). Shower block a bit dated but absolutely fine, hot showers, clean. Saw lots of staff around. Second evening a crowd of kids - approx age 9 -14 (no parents) were sat on the sink area, doing hair etc. When I went back in later, they'd left such a mess but not the camp's fault, some campers are feral. Let reception know and was cleaned straight away. Swimming pool - again very organised. Booked in advance, 45 minute slot so everyone gets a turn. Evening entertainment - Jakk's bar, we went midweek so it was all aimed at families. Kids loved it, after a gin or three so did I! What I loved was the kids had about £4 each and came back with prizes from the arcade machines. There are enough to be entertaining, not annoying. A food take away at the top of the site. We only had chips but reasonable priced and tasty. Another park there too. A convenience shop has everything you need and the town of Wem a mile away. Will definitely book this one again, a true gem!

Extremely noisy

Trailer Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeAug 2025

Staff were all lovely - no complaints there at all. Facilities outdated. Toilets often not flushable. Light in toilet block needed to be on more as dark building with little daylight. Impossible to see to do make up. Facilities seemed to be cleaned once a day which was not enough with a very over crowded site. The noise level was horrific. We left a day early as were sandwiched between two inconsiderate families both belting out their own tunes. Really drunk group of young adults with an open fire that looked very unsafe. More warden patrols were needed. Not somewhere we would consider going back to.

Good site overall

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Aug 2025

Overall, a very good site. Very spacious and the grounds were clean. Pitch was massive and electric hook up was reliable. Shop was cheap considering it was on site. Enclosed dog run was a good size and my dog was happy with mix of trimmed and long grass. Loved being able to have a small BBQ and campfire. However, some negatives are: Shower/toilet needs updating. Old and starting to look grotty. No temperature control and it was either scolding or freezing. Washing up sinks were dirty and u-bend were leaking leaving a small pond you have to stand in. Wasps were a nightmare, there was swarms and no tricks worked. Pitch was rock hard and inch down was just compressed gravel so rock pegs are a must. To summarise, we enjoyed our stay and thought the site was lovely. We would return if facilities were upgraded.

Very friendly atmosphere even with a full camp

Aug 2025

First time stay at this site, extremely impressed. If you like to isolate then it may not be the site for you, unless you pitch in one of the pitches with coves. Apart from the volume with kids on electric bikes that was an issue that has now been resolved. Strictly not allowed on site now. I have to say it, I was so proud of us Brits. It was so busy. Drink involved on a sunny weekend, lots of adults and children enjoying themselves and heard no arguments, A completely pleasant atmosphere! Tents in the touring area were respectful. No children running around the caravans and very quiet in the mornings. One tent field is huge with big families and although one group talking, laughing after 11 obviously not causing a problem or they would have been told. Were not young but we have been there, so we appreciate and like seeing people enjoying themselves. However, 3 stars of cleanliness is where we let ourselves down for leaving our own mess after that site workers have to pick up. Shop prices are really cheap that surprised me as they're cheaper than our corner shop. Pool area is supervised well. Loved stroking all the Alpacas but they have a grumpy goat. Camp is big so it was nice to cycle around. Toilets and showers were better than I thought. I think some people expect cleaning staff to be there continuously to check if we've flushed properly or pick up bits of toilet roll that we may of dropped on the floor. Wardens are always checking you in your pitch and are often around the site with their buggies and walkie talkies. Wardens aren't rude, we found them friendly, They are not going to loose they're jobs by letting you get away with managements regulations and that's that. So don't go there like us and think if you smile and act polite, they will turn a blind eye because they wont. No matter what reasons we wanted to keep our van at our pitch, even though it looks nice with nice forest/camping decals on the sides and is only used to pull our van, it has no side or back windows so we didn't win them over, so like us you will definitely have to pay up to site it in the car park. The point is, wardens are polite, helpful and friendly, they are just no pushovers. Enjoyed entertainment in Jakk's bar but would hope they turned volume down on the microphone. It was too loud and we couldn't hear each other so felt for the children who couldn't be heard by their parents. So that's me done, hope review helps and you enjoy your stay. Will definitely be looking forward to going again as we had the best stay here and glad we've finally found a place we loved. Unfortunately full for a touring pitch for this bank holiday so will have to wait. Be respectful and enjoy.

Excellent site!

Medium Tent - Small Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit E Long)Aug 2025

We stayed for 2 nights during August and loved it so much we're looking to rebook before the summer holidays are over. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we were shown to our pitch on arrival by the warden who was seen around the site daily if needed. The facilities were all clean and well maintained. We have two children aged 8 and 2 and there was plenty to entertain them between the animals on site, outdoor swimming pool, 2 parks, plenty of outdoor space to play, kids club and arcade games as well as crazy golf.

Motorhome - Fully Serviced Gravel and Grass Super Pitches (Red Area, Unit C)Jul 2025

Had a lovely stay. Booked fully serviced pitch, very pleased, was tidy, clean and spacious - plenty of room between pitches. Friendly welcome and friendly site users too. Outdoor swimming pool again was clean and tidy, and a great relief from the scorching heat wave this weekend. Use of the pool has got to be booked though and is limited to 45 min slots. Food options: shack by the pool with pizza and toasties, very reasonably priced. Also, fish and chip shop style, takeaway by Jakk's bar at the other end of the park also does breakfasts - prices bit on the higher side here though. Husband was delighted to meet Jason from Caravan and Motorhome Sales business on site as he's been following him for some time! Made his day on last day of our stay :) Shower blocks a bit dated but functional, kept tidy, and fairly clean. Only floors could do with deeper clean. Only one real issue, wasps were a pest around bins and the pool/bar area - some pest control to rid of the nest, more regular emptying and moving of full bins and thorough cleaning of them before reuse, could help as people were getting stung.

Great site

Honestly such a lovely stay, has a really lovely low key vibe for a site of it's size and all staff were just so very lovely. We are really looking forward to coming again in August. They've thought of everything for families with young kids.

Single Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Jun 2025

Great campsite for kids of all ages and adults. The only thing I will say is I wish there was a bank machine there but that is minor for what the staff actually do. Very polite and well mannered staff and great DJ for the kids parties. Highly recommend and 100% will return.

A nice stay

Motorhome - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)May 2025

We were a family group of 3 staying for 2 nights in our Motorhome at the end of May 25 during the school holidays. The check in process was straightforward and the staff were friendly. We were on a large pitch with electric (purple 07). I think we had the quieter spot on the campsite. We were travelling with our three dogs and were pleased there was a dog walking path. We did however spend a lot of time trying to dodge the dog mess along the path (not the campsite's fault I know). We used the shop and it was pretty well stocked up, alongside convenient opening times. We did not use the toilet /shower block until our last few hours. Everything appeared clean and functional. Whilst we enjoyed our 2 night break, we probably won't stay here again, especially during the school holidays as it was a little too busy for us.

Large safe site

Motorhome - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeMay 2025

The lady who ran the swimming area and later seen in the bar serving and doing children's entertainment, was in my experience, an amazing woman. I got talking to her and she had been there donkeys years and still as enthusiastic, I felt. The site is huge and constant staff patrolling the site was excellent and as a retired copper I felt very safe and enjoyed my time with my grandchildren aged 8&6. Yes, the toilet blocks are tired, but clean to say the least and has the right facilities covering such a large site . Well done to everyone involved .

Lovely, clean, functional and well run campsite!

Medium Tent - Small Non Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field, Unit A) Pet FreeMay 2025

As a first time camper, I was apprehensive but also excited to share the experience with my 2 kids (ages 11 & 5). My husband has been camping in the past (in childhood) so, it was a new family experience for all of us. We live 1.5 hrs away, but found the last 10 minutes a bit tricky as the sat-nav sent us on a detour, but we got there on the end. Upon arrival, we checked in at reception, received our welcome booklet. A few bits of info and had a ranger escorted us to our pitch. The next few days were nice. It was busy as it was bank holiday weekend but not so crammed you can't cope. We were at the top, so getting to the shower and toilet blocks meant a 3-5 mins walk. The weather was unsettled, so had to navigate strong winds and rain. The play park was a nice touch as it gave my little ones an area to burn some energy. Shower cubicles were spacious, water was warm and powerful. Toilets were relatively clean on most parts. We didn't try the onsite café but that option was available. We popped into the tribute act on Saturday night. The hall was buzzing. Reasonable entertainment for people who like that kind of stuff. Light refreshments were open sale and kids would buy sweets and toys from the £1/£2 vending machines. Something for everyone. We stayed in a dog free area, so didn't encounter any, which is great! We tried the outdoor swimming pool but the water was rather cold and it also began to rain, so we left early. We didn't actually use the on site shops but ventured out to the Co-op supermarket a few miles away and found that we can get everything we need there, so will do our food shopping there next time and pack less to take from home. All in all, it felt life we had a budget holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are planning to visit again in August as my kids were happy there, and so was I.

Staff was friendly and helpful

Medium Tent - Small Non Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field, Unit A) Pet FreeMay 2025

Nicely located parks. We came with a 14, 8 and 16 month old and there was enough to keep them all amused. We were a little sad the pool wasn't open but there is a public swimming pool in the next town over that everyone enjoyed. Facilities were clean and staff friendly. The shop had most essentials and the prices were standard. Large, well laid pitches. We will definitely come back.
