Clear filters Beautiful, well kept, clean site in convenient location
Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 Beautiful, well kept site with lots to offer. The shower and toilet facilities were the best we've experienced. Bishopthorpe itself is lovely as well, and close to the city.
We hired a boat from the site which was great, and we felt good value for the quality and size of the boat, and how long we had it for (£80 for 3 hours). Bosuns restaurant was shut while we were there, so didn't get the opportunity to dine, but we had food from the on site cafe which was good.
I personally don't like dogs as where there are dogs, there is dog mess, and I have young children, but I liked that they had to be on a lead at all times on the site. Most people (not all) did abide by this. We also liked that quiet hours were 8pm to 8am, and the owners made sure this was adhered to and even came immediately out at 10.30pm to resolve an issue with loud music (which turned out to be kids on the sports field behind the site) which we thought was amazing service!
The morning we were leaving, I saw a lady scrubbing the wooden benches by the playground with a brush and soapy water which impressed me - I like things clean! :)
One of the nicest sites we've stayed on and will definitely return!

Peaceful during the day
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 This is a lovely site in a great setting and very peaceful during the day. Unfortunately, when it is time to bed down, there is a droning noise that goes all night long and disturbs your sleep. I have no idea what it is as there was no one on site available to talk to about it. It is a relaxed site during the day with a very hands off approach, which means you are being pestered with rules and regulations but had someone been available to tell us what the issue was, it would have been helpful.
Toilet and shower facilities are nice and new, and done to a high standard, the only complaint is there is no toilet roll holder in any of the loos, so the paper towel rests on the shelf behind the cistern and looks messy and there are no shelves in the showers for any toiletries. In fact, only two hooks, so trying to keep things off the floor, clean and dry, is a bit tricky. My partner used the mens' facilities and said that the mixer tap didn't work and was either scolding or just below. Again, if someone had been available to talk to it would have helped to sort the issue.
If it hadn't have been for these small issues they would have a full 5 star rating but overall, a good site, although you are paying for it.

Our visit
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 We stayed at The Riverfront York campsite in our motorhome for 2 nights in April. The site is easy to find, checked in and all the information we needed was emailed to us prior to our arrival.
The site itself is very well maintained, clean and small. There is a restaurant onsite, but only open on the weekends when we visited, but the onsite cafe/bar was open everyday, there is also a children's play area. The facilities are nicely decorated, very clean and the showers are hot.
Gray and chemical waste tucked away in the corner of the site easy to access. 10 min walk to 2 pubs, both serving food. We took the river bus into York, (check dates and time) a nice relaxing way to cruise up the river, only took 45mins.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Campsite.

Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 Site was one of the best we have stayed on, really enjoyed it. It was a pity the restaurant was closed, but I understand it can't be open all year round and it obviously depends on the seasons.
The local village was good and it was easy to get into York city on the bus.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 We were not expecting such a lovely place to camp for the night! Check in was super easy and the facilities were awesome.
Showers are hot and very newly refurbished.

Spring break
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Apr 2025 It was a lovely site and we would definitely stay again.
We walked into York via the beautiful riverfront which is about 6km. We also used the excellent bus service from the well serviced village. We booked online where we also received our pitch number. As a result, we did not need to see anyone or gain a welcome with information about the area which is normally the case. Hence the low result on service.
The facilities however were spotless and a lady was cleaning regularly. The pitches are spacious and well kept with an area of hard standing plus a large grassy area, ideal for larger parties.

Beautiful, small, well kept campsite
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Mar 2025 Beautiful campsite, great location. Toilet block modern and stylish. Nice cafe for snacks and restaurant, which wasn't open as low season.

Stunning
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Mar 2025 A beautiful site. The grounds are immaculately maintained and the on site facilities - Bosun's restaurant, the take out café, spa and shower block - were exceptional.
Our only slight niggle was that 3 showers and 3 toilets in both M & F shower blocks were not sufficient with 25 units on site together with the glamping pods.

Great site
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Mar 2025 Lovely clean, tidy site with excellent toilets and showers.
Great cafe serving hot food and ice creams all day with seating by the river and a children's play area. Bosun's the local restaurant wasn't open when we pitched but opens on Thursdays and weekends. The site is within 12 minutes walking distance of two pubs which also serve food and several shops for stocking up. The local bus just outside the site goes into York about every 30 minutes and was usually on time.

Fantastic
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Mar 2025 We were met by the very smiley Jimmy on arrival, who was very helpful. We were directed to our pitch and we settled in. We ate in the Bosun's restaurant on the first night, which was fabulous.
A great site, perfect location and have already rebooked.

Short stay in York
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Mar 2025 Lovely scenic site on the river. Lovely resteraunt too. Not the cheapest site, but worth it.
Could do with more basins in the facilities area. A clean site, but the stand pipes for water need drains as the grass ends up muddy when you use them.

My stay at riverfront camper site York
Motorhome - Hardstanding Pitches (No Awning) Oct 2024 I must say that I was very impressed with the camp site, well laid out and very clean.
It's an hour walk into York or you can catch the number 11 bus which will take you to a train station in the city centre, the bus stop is in the village.
There is a café on site that sells hot food and drink, you can sit and watch boats go by. In the village there are three pubs that sell food and all are good, they are 5 mins from the site and there is a food shop.
