Barn Farm is an excellent base for DofE Expeditions
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2023 We have used Barn Farm on a number of occasions for DofE Expeditions. Mark could not be more helpful and the facilities are excellent.
Great campsite
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2023 No hot water in pot wash area and was very sporadic in the shower area
The private cubicles were nice. Mark was very helpful and friendly. Peacocks were lovely to see but can be noisy if you are in a tent. Take earplugs.
It's a bigger campsite than we would normally choose, but we were there for a wedding. The barns were great, the bigger one was fab for a get together with friends.
The one for a couple was really nice. This is a good all round campsite that can facilitate everyone's needs.

Small Tent - Large Overflow Field Pitches (Field 2) Jul 2023 Brilliant campsite. Everything you need without being over commercialised. The added extra of the use of the barn in bad weather was fab and we were so grateful to have this warm, dry space.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Touring Pitches Jul 2023 Absolutely gorgeous site. Views amazing. Will definitely stay there again but would like to be nearer toilet and shower facilities due to mobility difficulties. Although the site I was on was lovely, if the barn there could be made into toilets, that would be amazing.
I loved Barn Farm and its lovely to see young people there doing their D of E. Thank you.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches (Field 1) Jul 2023 Fantastic site. Right next to village with two great pubs and bus services to Matlock and Bakewell. Also convenient for excellent walks. Lots of space on site with everything we wanted.
We will definitely return and recommend this site.

Great despite wild weather
Large Tent - Family Playground Field Non Electric Pitches (Field 4) Jul 2023 We stayed as 2 families with young children on a very wet and windy weekend, but had a fantastic time.
Really lovely site, the facilities were great and there were plenty of showers. The games room was very useful when it was tipping it down and they also opened a large barn with seating, where we could take the kids to play.
Planning to return when the sun is out!

Our only complaint would be the 4am or 5am peacock alarm call 🙈
Peace and quiet
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2023 Not our first stay here, but such a marvellous location and with all the facilities you need! Be aware the (well stocked and good priced) shop doesn’t open on a Sunday, but otherwise it’s such a scenic place to rest and relax - and the local pub isn’t too far to walk either. Will be back again.
