Camping at Catgill
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Just had a quick long-weekend away and stayed at Catgill. Great central location for all that we wanted to do. Site facilities were superb.
Small fly in the ointment was the lack of any facility to grab a coffee at a reasonable time. I think they're missing a trick by not expanding the existing facility. I'm sure the pizzas were great, but the demand was huge!
There are not many places external to the site, and are within reasonable travelling distance, which offer an evening meal.
Very nice place and great facilities Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Very nice place and great facilities. This was spoiled somewhat by loud music playing at a camp spot nearby. We would have preferred a more peaceful experience.
It would have been much better if the music had stopped playing after 10:30. Instead, it continued much later than this and we had difficulty sleeping over our 2 night stay. It might be an idea to have a patrol after 10:30pm or separate the camping areas, one area with music allowed and the other for peaceful enjoyment - Just a thought.
I tagged as 'fun' so perhaps better suited to the below 30's.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Great campsite. Check in for the pitch was easy. Toilets and showers were very clean and the kitchen to wash up etc was clean also. I can't fault the facilities, they were spot on.
Easy to find- we got lucky with good weather and felt chilled out right away. Close to attractions if you want to venture out.
We did check out a night early but this was because we didn't want to put the tent down in the rain- we would have stayed otherwise :)

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Catgill Farm folk pay attention to the detail making this an excellent stay. Shower block, wash up places are roomy, well laid out and they pride themselves on cleanliness. Campers respond by taking good care of things too. Book your morning coffee and croissants the night before. Magic.
Spring visit
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Our first time camping we weren't sure what to expect but we have loved our stay at Cargill. It had a warm friendly feel and lovely coffee and pizzas. Very clean and welcoming and we will be coming back.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2024 Great stay and very friendly staff. It’s a very relaxing campsite unlike others that are very strict, this contributes to the really nice atmosphere of the farm. Will definitely be returning.
Very pleasant and quiet
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2024 As camping sites go, this is one of the best so far, for location, cleanliness and services provided.
Catgill is a steady 15-minute walk to Bolton Abbey where a whole host of activities for all ages can be enjoyed. We had a latte and cake at the Green Tea Cafe, which was fantastic and reasonably priced.
The campsite boasts cleaner facilities than the local hospital!! Plenty of room and pitches and some wonderful wildlife on site.
Unfortunately, we went on a walk and whilst walking we looked back on our tent to witness someone else's tent had blown away and damaged ours beyond repair. They didn't report it, and they ended up just leaving
Overall a very pleasant stay.

Autumn break
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2023 We arrived after a lot of rain, we were in a campervan at the bottom of the hill so was very muddy, this couldn't be helped, it's the weather. On the Sunday we hired the fire pit, best thing ever. Really enjoyed our night under the stars. Will definitely return and explore the area further.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2023 Lovely staff, toilets and showers very clean, loved the communal wash up area with fridge, freezer, microwave and kettle. Perfect for us campers and lovely views.
Lovely coffee and croissants. And pizza.
Would be even better if they could offer a packed lunch for hikers 😊
Excellent campsite
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2023 A lovely site with spectacular views and in a fantastic area.
The toilet and shower facilities are spacious and clean and were never too busy.
The reception and little shop is handy and Cars Kitchen is lovely, providing coffees and pastries on a morning and stone baked pizzas on an evening.
The only thing I think it is missing is a kids' play area. Just a little space for them to get together and make friends and do some climbing etc. However, this would just be an added bonus as it is a fabulous campsite.

Lovely site and location
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2023 We stayed as a family of 4 with another family of 3.
Great location and nice clean facilities. The site is a little on the hilly side, which meant we kept sliding out of bed, but it was very busy and we were late checking in, so was likely due to a lack of other available space.
Would certainly recommend and will return.
2 day stay at site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2023 The site was excellently located for Bolton Abbey and the surrounding area. The toilets and showers were up there with the best we have seen on a camping site, although from our pitch at the bottom of the site it was a little hike in the middle of the night.
There was good WiFi reception but no TV signal whatsoever. Would have been nice to have known this prior our trip. We could have bought DVD's for the wet evenings.

Family friendly campsite with great facilities
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2023 Lovely campsite and had no complaints whatsoever.
It was quite busy though, with families, so ideal for vacationing groups, but not for people looking for pure outdoor experience disconnected from the maddening crowd and bustle of modern life. Not a complaint. I should have checked first.
But, still a fantastic campsite, hence the 5* reviews.
