About the site

This Monmouthshire pub site is great for both walkers looking for a stopover and families searching for a summer getaway to the great outdoors. Set on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, the site is within easy reach of lots of trails including the Offa's Dyke path, just 20 minutes away. For campervans, trailer tents, roof tents, tourers and motorhomes, there are 16 amp electric hook up pitches. Simply choose between grass or hardstanding! The friendly onsite pub has an extensive menu of food and drink, so what better way to end a day of hiking around the Brecons than with a tasty home-cooked meal? The pub also hosts evening entertainment on weekends, including live singers and quiz nights. Enjoy stunning countryside views from your pitch with surrounding farmland and vistas of the Black Mountain! There is an access gate for keen walkers who wish to walk along the river through the farmland, this is only there for the park visitors and public access is not permitted. You'll also be ten minutes from Abergavenny, the foodie hub of Monmouthshire. Or, if you are looking for a bit more adventure, head to the Brecons or the Offa's Dyke Path, just a 20 minute walk away. Very close to the very popular attraction of Dirt Farm, perfect for those adrenaline seekers! There are two access points to the site, one for vehicles which is secured with a barrier and passes are provided upon arrival. There is a separate gated entrance for those arriving on foot. Please note, the site is quiet outside of peak holidays and bank holidays, but like all beauty spots and popular destinations, it does get busier during the school holidays and when the sun is shining. Fires are not permitted but BBQs are allowed as long as they are raised from the ground. Dogs are welcome just please ensure that they are kept on a lead at all times and picked up after so the open space can be used by everyone.

A note from the site themselves...

We chose to relaunch our campsite because of the location and what we believe is important to us. We love the scenery and the majestic views we have every day, and the vast blanket of stars we see nightly, with the sound of the River Honddu gently passing its way past our park.

Our dog 'Finch' adores the open spaces and the surrounding farmland keeps him totally entertained. All of us involved have a real passion for providing hospitality.

The pub and holiday park chose us in truth, and we will continue to pour our passion, energy, and enthusiasm into the adventure and improve all areas as and when possible, in between a very busy season and service.

We have been very lucky to find some like minded team who share our passion for the great outdoors and also the provision of friendly and professional service to all who choose to either stay with us, eat or drink with us or those who are simply passing through. We hope to welcome you soon, Damian and the team

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

Facilities could be better to feel it was better value for money, but the pitches and the location were very nice. No toilet rolls all the time we were there, no recycling just general waste. We didn't use the pub so can't comment on that, had beers and BBQ in the sunshine. Although I've been a bit negative I would still recommend it for the lovely location alone, and we had a really good time meeting up with friends there. Staff on arrival were welcoming and friendly.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

Booked for 2 campervans as one of us was attending an event in the area and location was convenient. On arrival, we were told we didn't have adjoining pitches, we were either end of the camping field. We asked if there was anyway we could be together but the chap explained that they were fully booked and guests had pre-booked specific pitches. We understood this but the message could've been delivered better, I felt I was being told off by the headmaster just for politely asking. It would've been good to know this in advance as honestly, we would've booked elsewhere had we known. We were looking forward to cooking together whilst socialising which we then couldn't do, somewhat defeating the point of going together! It was particularly frustrating when adjacent pitches were vacant for both nights of our stay, so it seemed it could've been possible after all. Site was fine. Toilets and shower block basic but clean. 3 showers, 1 of which had no lock. Pressure on the showers was pretty poor, as in the water stopped completely when toilets were flushed, but it was manageable. Nice and warm. Best part was a lovely walk through the fields right next door which was fantastic for the dogs. Ate in the pub which had nice food. Liked the barrier into the campsite entrance for security. Would be great to have some recycling bins rather than all general waste.

Site's response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are sorry we could not deliver the adjacent pitches on this occasion, something we will always try and do of course. We are also sorry to hear the water flow became slow, it was indeed slow on the area we believe but although uncontrollable, we feel responsible so apologies.
