Lovely hidden gem Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Sep 2025 Lovely quiet site with views down the river and boats going up and down all day.
Good food in the restaurant. Showers were big with plenty hot water. Husband put night camera out and caught deer, squirrel and a cat on it.
Only thing is the narrow single track down to the site.
1 night camp stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We had an enjoyable stay here. The location and facilities are great, and very reasonable pitch fee. Slightly annoying that we were not informed that you had to book the swimming pool so we had disappointed children.
I would consider this a family campsite so it was disappointing that some families were still shouting and playing loud music/watching a film with a speaker until 12pm. Appreciate that this isn’t the fault of the campsite but I would have expected such a peaceful site to have some camping etiquette rules.
Hidden gem in a tranquil location Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Aug 2025 We had a great time, staff were helpful and friendly. Onsite Inn did fabulous food and was dog friendly, shop was well stocked.
Great site for paddle boarding or kayaking. We found it very quiet, lovely to walk dogs along marina. Pool was great, though you did need to book your slot. Only issue is access is via narrow lane, though it has passing points.
Camping 3 nights Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We have just returned from 3 nights camping. There are good and not so good things about it.
The good things were we were pleased to get 3 pitches next to each other (we were 3 families), the kids really enjoyed the play park and hill they could bike/run down. Access to the river for paddle boarding was great. The onsite pub served decent enough food and was nice to mix up our stay with a meal there rather than BBQing each night.
We were told we couldn't get the car up to the pitch which is true but thought we'd have to walk far to get all our bits to the pitch but actually, it isn't too far and some people did drive cars a bit closer; and there are trollies which are useful.
However, it is worth noting the pitches are small and not directly opposite the play park so you couldn't see the kids while sitting in your tent. It would have been better to be on one field and tents surrounding as also didn't lend itself to group football/rounders games etc.
I was told by husband that the games in the pub games rooms mainly didn't work, along with the pool table which was a shame. The swimming pool didn't have much to 'play' with; we brought our own balls, sinkies etc, It's quite small; don't expect a slide or a fountain. Would be good to provide some steps in the washing up area for little ones to get involved.
All in all, we had a great time; the toilets were always well stocked and pretty clean; plenty of bins (only one main recycling bin, loads of landfill and one small food waste but there were food waste caddies in the washing up room). Perhaps some early evening entertainment for kids would be good to break up the afternoons (there was a jazz singer on the Saturday from 3pm, we didn't see him but he sounded pretty good!)
Thanks for having us!
Great place to stay and explore Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2025 A great site for exploring the east side of Norfolk and Suffolk.
Lots for children to do in a safe enclosed area e.g. playground and indoor pool. Restaurant and bar very nice and shop supplied all your basic needs while in a caravan or tent.
Another plus was the ferry taking you over to the nature reserve. It was a shame that the hire boats weren't operating. The roads leading up to the site were narrow even with passing places so people just need to be careful going in and out.
Camping fun Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 On site pub food terrible. All 5 meals sent back and we went back to tent to eat.
Fantastic stay! Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We had a wonderful 3 night stay, the facilities were great, the pool was a bonus and my boys loved swimming every morning!
Very friendly site and the kids loved playing at the park and around the site with their friends. So beautiful being by the water. We will definitely return!
Good Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Awesome site, will definitely return.
Fantastic Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Lovely and clean campsite. Plenty of showers/toilets. Views were stunning.
Nice pool - need to book your time slot. Pub on site was good - nice selection of drinks and friendly staff. Night time noise quietens down around 10 as per the rule, but not completely silent. Pinball machine arcade was different, and games room behind the pool was ok too, plenty of different things to play.
Would definitely stay here again.
Great facilities Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Aug 2025 The site is easily located.
Showers are a great set up with toilet, wash basin and shower in one private room. Pool is a good size with a great viewing area and kids play area. Clean and spacious. Park play field ideally situated.
The Inn is very nicely furnished with plenty of seating inside and out. Loved the ferry service too.
Brilliant Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 Beautiful place to stay and very reasonably priced.
Peaceful fun campsite on the river Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Heron Touring Pitches Aug 2025 Lovely friendly campsite on the river. Can hire boats from here.
Peaceful and we will be back.
Disappointed customer Medium Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 We stayed with you 2 years ago and this time were very disappointed in the reduction in cleaning standards, failure to carry out simple repairs, and general condition of the place. The location is so beautiful, but our party (15 people in tents and campervans) will not be returning.
Lovely location, but toilets and showers are unclean VW-Type Campervan - Electric Heron Touring Pitches Aug 2025 The campsite is very pretty and there's a nice pub nearby.
Unfortunately, the toilets and showers are filthy so you will be desperate to get home and wash! They weren't cleaned throughout the day. I didn't actually see them cleaned the whole time I was there. Given the showers had toilets in, it was disgusting, showers were dirty, smelly and run down. I didn't want to put anything down in the showers as it smelled like a public urinal, the floors were dirty and there was rust and mould around the showers. Such a shame.
They also put us on a tiny sloped pitch overlooking the car park - in fact, we'd have had a better view if we had parked in the car park! Luckily, our family had nicer spots and so we sat with them. I don't think the one we stayed in should have been a pitch, we'd have left immediately if we had to sit there every day looking into a car park.
Brilliant Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Amazing stay, will definitely book to stay again, perfect for keeping young children busy and entertained.
Clean, spacious and beautiful site.
Fantastic Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Moorhen Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 I have just got home from a wonderful stay-at the Waveney River Centre.
The staff are so approachable and helpful. The facilities were very clean and the views were fabulous.
I will definitely be back.
A lovely site that we have always loved Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Aug 2025 Only real complaint is the site shop, whether in a tent a boat a lodge etc, people need the basics like fresh veg, sanitary materials etc.
We were really lucky and someone let us have an onion. Don't get us wrong, the place is a special place to stay, everyone is really friendly and lovely and the whole site is spotless, but as it is remote, the site store need to carry some real essentials other than ice creams, camping mats, burger baps ect. If this sounds negative it's not meant to as we love the Waveney and have come back for many years, it's just our impression of what could have been better. We're sure the shop had more selection a few years ago, maybe people didn't use it as much and the books didn't add up at the end of the year. If this is the case we can fully understand.
Good base Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Nice location for exploring the Broads and Southwold pier, but the one track roads to the centre I must admit terrify me slightly!
It would've been handy to have the onsite café food times shared in the booking info as we kept showing up being told we only had 5 mins to order. That said, the whole waiting team were really kind, and child friendly which I really appreciated with over tired and grumpy kids.
The toilet block was convenient, but dated/slightly broken.
We would go back to try and explore the Broads some more.
Camping holiday Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Quiet location, lots of small children, not a lot on site for older children. Games room had a lot of broken machines that got worse during our stay, staff very welcoming.
Lovely site! Being beside the river was perfect Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Bittern Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Great location, absolutely loved it by the river!
The kids really enjoyed the pool and everyone was very friendly. Only comment is that it was quite inconvenient having to park away from the tent pitch, we have a large tent so having to cart everything across the site was annoying.
Ruined holiday by drunken noisy campers Jul 2025 Holiday ruined by noisy campers swearing and shouting until way past midnight, then from 6am. No one on site to police it.
Completely destroyed a beautiful idyllic camping setting.
Hidden getaway Recommends site
Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 This was our first visit and not sure if we would return.
The site is reached down a rough single track road which is very narrow with overgrown trees/bushes which scratch the side of the caravan. The pool was a bonus, nice and warm and I agree with the booking system, this way, everyone gets a chance to use it. The toilets were clean.
The showers were clean and spacious but the water temperature under par. The setting was nice around the marina. Small children's play area. Nice bar and restaurant on site. The pitches are snug. Once there, you would need to drive out to places as nothing in the immediate vicinity. .
Paid for 3 nights and stayed for 2. Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Arrived during torrential rain and the very muddy single track road was a big put off in a Motorhome.
Very little to do there if you don't have a car or children with you. Facilities not very clean and toilet seats missing. Not for us.
What a great find! Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 Great location, showers and toilet facilities excellent, nice bar serving food, good size indoor pool - marina picturesque. Staff in reception and bar very helpful.
Lovely stay Recommends site
Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Kingfisher Touring Pitches Jul 2025 We had a lovely stay at Waveney, everywhere was spotless, the restaurant food was good and thankfully due to the rain putting the terrace out of action dog friendly.
The only down side was there are no dog walks from the site, thought there might be a riverside walk from the marina but gated off due to it being part of the wild life sanctuary. No ferry running so no access to the one walk there is on the other side of the river. But we would return, if you want just to chill out and have peace and quiet this is the site.
