Not great Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We were camping here on the touring site. Turned up to find out which one was our pitch and the man in charge was helpful, it did concern me a little when I asked if the pitches had numbers and he replied "if they haven't been burnt over the weekend". The touring site is actually nice, we had a pitch near the trees and set up just fine. The ground was good and the access to electricity was easy.
I appreciate that lots of different people are sharing the facilities, so it wasn't the cleanest. In fact, the cleaners would come and as soon as anyone walked in on the damp floor, due to the colour of the tiles you can see if straight away. The loos had sanitary bins that were full and some people had left used products on the floor - not the cleaners fault at all, but I do feel more bins wouldn't go amiss. The showers were rubbish - 2 permanently locked so only 3 in use. The floors were consistently filthy in them - again, maybe some accessible cleaning products handy and more bins would help. If there was a squeegee and some blue roll/cleaner, I'm sure people using the facilities wouldn't mind cleaning a cubicle if it wasn't up to standard before showering in it. The shower itself was a disappointment - after pushing to activate you only got around 6-8 seconds before it shut off!
The people on the touring site were colourful and unfortunately, it was a bit of a 'no man's land' - music on way past curfew. Lots of electric scooters whizzing around the place and open fires - two no no's on the rules.
The site itself was good enough. A little shop (bit expensive though, as expected). The arcade was good, we went to the entertainment once and it was fun, organised well enough. The pool was adequate too, very strange that you get told that you can't book until 4pm for the next days sessions. This is obviously not the rule the staff go by as we went to book at 3.50pm for the following day and there was only 2 time slots that had availability. Riddle me that.
Would I stay again? I'm undecided. It wasn't awful, we had a lovely time, the kids loved it. The touring site could do with being manned by security and maybe have some cleaning products to hand (and some signs reminding people to keep it clean!) I think it's in a really good spot for the Lake District, the high street is lovely with some little gems, the sea in the sun is glorious and it's a well loved place.
Poor experience VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2025 We probably went at the wrong time of year, but it was a mud bath - cars stuck. Site facilities are good, but needs hardstanding areas on a touring site. Plain grass with poor weather was a nightmare.
Not a great experience Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Good if you like loud, noisy campsites, lots of drunk people being very loud until very late, which isn't great for a 'family' campsite.
Facilities are okay, but very dirty bins over flowing no loo roll by the end of the day. Also showers constantly muddy. Not a great stay.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 It's a really a shame as we were really happy with the site but a couple of things let it down. Toilets need to be cleaned more often, running out of toilet roll and not clean in the morning!
Really disappointed with the swimming, went to book on our arrival day, Thursday, for the Sunday got told we weren't allowed as you can only book the day before at 16:00 as it wasn't fair on people that where still due to arrive for the weekend!
Then when I returned on Saturday at 15:50, all of Sunday was full and they didn't understand why I had been told that but it was too late. I had to disappoint my children as we now couldn't go swimming!

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely site, we were directed to our pitch and told where everything was.
We were pitched and set up in no time at all! Touring area was quite busy and facilities were well utilised. At times this was apparent but the team were on top of cleaning. Only issue we had was with the shower cubicles, a little small and difficult to keep your clean clothes and shoes dry while you showered. But only a minor issue.
All in all, very well kept site and we had a great time.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Friendly staff, clean site with bins, washing up facilities, new clean toilets and showers and a few minutes drive from some beautiful coastline.
Will be returning for sure!
