lovely spot, quiet, clean, friendly

We stayed for four nights, with our very elderly dog, who enjoyed the strolls on the flat along the canal. We tried the nice food in the local pub, caught the bus to Kendal and chilled. The grass areas are well maintained, some lovely flowers around. The facilities are nearby and are kept meticulously clean, several times a day. They provide chucks for each space, to level your van. There were so many different and beautiful dogs around, all well behaved and friendly. A place to recharge.

Short stay at Little Acre

Excellent short stay. Very clean and nice rural location although close by motorway. No motorway noise.

Cannot Fault!

We had an excellent stay here and thought everything was spot on. Paul was brilliant and was able to find us a powered tent pitch even though we had only booked for without, and the facilities on site were very clean and premium feeling.

2 night stay at Little Acre Campsite

Myself and my friends stayed for two nights at Little Acre Campsite. Perfect location and a beautiful site with impeccable toilet and shower facilities. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and really did make an effort to ensure that our stay was perfect. I definitely will be back and I couldn’t recommend this campsite more! Perfect from start to finish!

Well maintained, friendly site

Only an hour from home for us, but a great base for a weekend break. We walked down the canal which was accessed right by the site. Excellent meal at Crooklands across the road. Site itself is brilliant, not too big, lovely owners, modern and clean facilities which were never too busy. Concrete slabs available to put BBQ/firepit on. Tent field was spacious and not overfilled even though it was fully booked. We booked because it was adults only and will definitely stay again when we fancy a short weekend away. It is not remote, so there is some noise from the nearby road, but it didn't bother us at all.

Perfect site

Loved our stay here. Peaceful adult only site with easy access to the canal for walking the dog. Facilities are first class and spotless. Also the hotel opposite perfect for drinks and food amazing. We will be returning

Fab Four days

Immaculately clean small site in a lovely location. The owners were very obliging and friendly. The site is very dog friendly. The Crooklands pub and restaurant across the road is worth a visit and great to have so close by.The site is around 30 mins to Lake Windermere. We would highly recommend staying here. We will definitely return.

Ideal for couples with their furry friends

Great site just off the motorway. Lovely new toilet and shower block. Great pitches with electric and water. Clean site and the washing up area was super clean too providing dish washing liquid. Showers also had plenty of toiletries for everyone to use. Would definitely recommend this site to couple and adults going solo or with friends and their furry friends.

Absolute little gem. Must stay.

Absolutely lovely stay from start to finish. The staff were helpful and even let us borrow an extension cable. So clean and well maintained. Definitely will stay again.

Tent stay with electric.

Excellent and very clean site, owners very friendly, lovely walks along the Lancaster canal, crooklands hotel across the road serving food, there is another pub 10 minute walk up the road.

Honest feedback

Friendly staff in arrival. Great location for accessing the lakes and surrounding area. Lovely strolls along the canal with the dog which is right outside the campsite gate. The shower/toilet facilities are spot on too best we've seen in our years of camping. The few negatives we have were that the main road directly outside the campsite is extremely noisy day and night. We have a large tent, so booked a large pitch to then be told on arriving back from a day out we needed to remove the front canopy due to others not having good access in and out. Other campers complained about noise (not our noise but other's noise), we felt for them being told as it was prior to quiet time. We were at asked to put our fire out by another camper as it was going in their campervan, we were not the only people with a fire and booked this site to be able to have a fire!

Travelling friends

We stayed just one night on our way north . What a fantastic site situated just off the motorway. It was extremely quiet and very well maintained. Plus extras In Shower facility like cotton buds hand cream and nail files etc . Very nice touch . I would definitely use this site again . The owner was very accommodating and understanding. Also a very nice pub opposite.

Absolutely brilliant stay

We have just returned from a week camping at this adult only site. Paul and Sarah are so welcoming and keep the fabulous facilities and site extremely clean and tidy. It was so easy to visit places within 30 minutes. Whilst there we visited Arndale, Silverdale, Ambleside, Bowness, Windermere, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis & Kirkby Lonsdale. The local pub is minutes by foot and there is a local petrol station selling ice and a few groceries. A lovely canal walk is just outside the campsite gates where you can walk the tow path for miles. Initially we booked for 6 night but had such a great time asked to stay another night. Never had to wait for a free toilet and only a few times did we wait 2-3 minutes for a shower. The genius 20p meter for three minutes was ample and kept the showers moving. I can't tell you enough how beautiful the showers, toilets, washing up and laundry facilities are! The only downside, which is beyond anything Sarah & Paul can do, is that the tent pitches are very close to a noisy road that haulage trucks use day and night but after a few nights, we got used to the traffic. It was so good, we'll definitely be going back.

Fantastic campsite, lovely hosts, noisy neighbourhood

A lovely little campsite. Fantastic amenities that are washed and cleaned regularly. Hosts were lovely, Paul was helpful, and seemed to genuinely care about his guests wellbeing and enjoyment. Picturesque pastoral views. Wonderfully quiet customers, no one shouting, getting lary. People were friendly and helpful, chatty and neighbourly. The only issue I had, and it's not anything to do with the campsite, was the early morning and evening traffic and business noise, lots of motorbikes going too fast, enormous trucks trying to go over a nasty bend and a narrow bridge. Some drivers took a considerable time to negotiate that turn. Also, it's close to the M6, which I thought would be an issue. Never heard it though. The local traffic and there is a lot of it from early around 5:30am ish to 9-10 at night. So if you want somewhere super quiet, this might not be the spot for you. On the other hand, it is very well placed for access to the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales. Both beautiful parts of the country. So it's a bit fly in the ointment type of thing, great campsite, great location but the great location costs the traffic noise. If you have earplugs, I'd take them I did and found them very helpful. I slept soundly enough. Only really noticed the traffic noise in the day and early evening. If you're away out all day, you're likely to miss most of the noisiest busiest times.

Fantastic campsite

What a gorgeous campsite this was. Our first time here and we will definitely be going back. Clean, well designed. Lovely, clean showers and toilets. The 20ps for the shower are not an issue and you get a long time for 20p, about 3 minutes. They have plenty of change for this in the office. Friendly owners. So peaceful and relaxing. There's a lovely pub just minutes away. The canal walk right next to it was stunning and we saw loads of wildlife. Perfect for the lakes and walks. And a great stop over just off the motorway. There's a little bit of noise from the motorway but it's minimal. Later at night we heard nothing. Highly recommend. Loved it.

Ideal location and amazing facilities

After 15 years of refusing to camp, I finally conceded and came away with my husband and 2 dogs. We had beautiful weather. The campsite is 5* and we will definitely be returning. The location is great for both Cumbria and Yorkshire. Beautiful walks and swims for the dogs. Thank you Paul for letting us arrive late after my husband's car broke down 🥴

Excellent, clean, well managed site, convenient location

Wonderful little site with spotless facilities. Just off the M6 at junction 36, the location is fantastic as it's very easy to get to and then perfectly located to drive to either The Lakes or The Yorkshire Dales. I emailed ahead to ask if we could arrive back late after the England match and Paul replied saying he'd put us in the space closest to the gates to make sure we had freedom to come back late without disturbing anyone. Paul lives on site and was busy doing maintenance jobs when we checked in. The 2 toilet/shower blocks were immaculate which is very high up my priority list. Crooklands Hotel is just opposite the site and we were able to walk across for a meal. There's no shop on site, but there's a garage a few minutes walk down the canal which sells all the basic essentials. We highly recommend this site to anyone and will definitely be back.

An excellent stay

We chose this site because it promised to provide everything we are looking for - easy access to the Lakes, a small site close to a good walking environment along the canal for our dog and a good eatery within walking distance. We were not disappointed in any way. Fabulous, clean and organised site, friendly, welcoming and attentive owners - we will definitely be going back.

Fabulous site

We stayed in our caravan for 4 nights with 3 of our dogs and absolutely loved it. The site is adult only and is not too big, which we liked. It is perfectly positioned for exploring the lakes and surrounding areas, and there is a lovely pub on the doorstep. The site was very clean and tidy, and the pitches are a generous size so you don't feel on top of each other. The toilets and washing facilities are excellent, very modern and clean, with a lovely extra touch of providing hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and much more. The owners of the site, Sarah and Paul, are lovely people, very friendly, helpful and accommodating, we will definitely be returning for another stay in the near future.

Very friendly and well kept

We had a lovely time camping. We were welcomed with a very in depth explanation and by the lovely staff. The toilets and showers were kept impeccably clean. The one thing and partly due to the lovely hot weather we had was a lack of a freezer for ice packs but it did not change the lovely stay.

Beautiful camp site!

Just stayed for 2 nights at Little Acre and had a peaceful and relaxing time. Owner Paul was very welcoming. This is a perfect location for exploring the Lakes and Dales. The campsite was immaculate and all communal areas were spotless. The showers and toilets are some of the best I've seen!! I would definitely stay here again when up that way. Thank you!
