We stayed at the top of the field with friends for 4 nights. Perfect location, beautiful fields in view. The pub attached to the field was lovely. Amazing home cooked steak and on the Sunday we had the carvery. The staff were wonderful. The owner of the pub was so nice and friendly. We just can’t fault this location and the Cotswolds is just stunning.

Very welcoming from all staff. Had a lovely fish and chips meal. The grass could have been cut sooner or shorter, as it was far too long. The 1 shower room was very tired and didn't give the impression of being that clean. The shower curtain put me off using it!

Uneven grass field with some electric hook ups. Toilets x2 and shower at rear of the pub. Clean and tidy. Pub is lovely with a great atmosphere and good food and local beers, which makes it an excellent place to stay.

A lovely place to pitch for a couple of nights. Staff in the pub are very friendly and willing to help if they can. The facilities are basic & not the cleanest but overall good value for money!

Nice, quite site. Shame that there was only 1 shower and 1 toilet, but clean. Toilet seat was broken.

The locations good as a base for exploring the area. The toilet and shower were clean and modern. The cost for a pitch was great value. The real highlight was the pub, The Gate Hangs High. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food - evening meal and breakfast - and good beer. A proper local with a friendly and down to earth atmosphere. Really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed for three nights on an electric pitch. We were the first there for the weekend, so got to pick our spot. We went for the corner shielded by trees as there was a storm coming! Field is clean enough, but facilities are basic. It doesn't pretend to be anything else so no issues there. The single shower was warm and clean enough, as was the single loo. You can use the pub loos during opening hours which were much nicer. It is next door to a recycling plant which was very noisy after 7am but I'd read the reviews so no surprises there, just don't expect a lie in. There is no facility to wash dishes, other than the shower room, but there is a cold drinking water tap. As a base, location is good enough, close enough to local villages, couple of pubs etc. not much nearby, so do your research. The pub itself is nice, fairly basic but charming. Nice beers and the food was really really good. Lovely beer garden too. Staff were nice enough, no complaints. Nothing for children, such as a park. Just plenty of grass area for games. On the whole, you get what you pay for! Stunning part of the country, basic site but cheap! Don't expect more than it tells you and you'll be fine!
Okay for a stop over

We didn't use facilities, apart from the pub. Camping field was level in places, would recommend the electric hook up pitches, but the field seems back onto a waste collection site, so lots of noise within metres. Road also noisy. Pub gardens were nice and food OK. We would use it again for a night en-route somewhere else.

Thank you for your review. I do wish people that leave reviews read that we are next to an industrial site, not hiding anything. I can't do much about the road, apart from close them!

Easy to find on a main road, but far enough from the road to be safe for children. Would definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. A lot of campsites around this area are really expensive, this place is not! Super reasonable! No messing around with camping, just pitch up where there is space. Pub is great, staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. Fantastic atmosphere and busy for a weekday evening which is always great to see. Food was really good and reasonably priced. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you very much!

Lovely, quiet site behind pretty pub garden despite being near busy road. Pub food (home made steak pie) was excellent. Good access, Hook Norton village is a 25 min walk away. Such a lovely area to explore & the site had everything we needed.

We had a non electric hook up pitch, plenty of space to choose from. We booked a table. Good choice of food and was very nice. Good choice of ale, cider and wine. Would recommend and will.

The friendly staff couldn't do enough to help. There was great food, we eat there again. We had a lovely time, sitting in the garden which was lovely. The shower and toilet were ok, just could be a little better, but they did what they needed to do.

Proper camping, minimum facilities, but it works. A lovely pub, the food is good and the host is charming. Only adverse comments are for the local council, there are no footpaths on the roads, which are busy and very fast, so dog walking is almost impossible. If they just cut the grass on the verges, it wouldn't be. All in all, a good weekend thank you.
Okay for a last minute stop over, great food and views

Fairly big field next to the pub, no marked pitches, just go where you like (unless needing EHU, obviously). Had to pay extra to put a small tent next to it - even though an awning would have been free. But still - pretty cheap. We didn't think the facilities were great. One loo, one shower room (with loo as well) were not kept very clean. Can use pub loos when open. However, the views are lovely, and the pub food fantastic, so certainly worth a stop if you're in the area.
Site's response
We advertise one shower and 2 loos. We do mention the facilities that we offer. It is very hard to keep the loos clean when it rains, and your shoes carry mud on to the floor. You could always come and tell us in the pub that the floor is dirty.

Great value. Lovely location behind a nice pub. Ok for a couple of nights. Probably wouldn't want to stay a lot longer due to only having 1 wash room, but ideal for a weekend.

Very nice pub and the people were genuinely helpful. We stayed on a non-electric pitch, which was on uneven ground so don't forget your chocks.. Had lovely meal, nice and freshly cooked, no frozen stuff. Site covers a mixture of outfits campervans, motorhomes and tents, would stay again if passing.

A shame there isn't 1 or 2 more toilets, maybe a portable loo for when it's busy. Other than that, staff are friendly and it's a clean site, will definitely go back.

Small site used as a base to look around the Cotswolds, although it's small it's well kept and clearly popular, although at no point did it feel there were too many people there. One shower room and one separate toilet were always clean and drinking water was accessible if needed. I would suggest eating in the restaurant, the food was amazing and well priced.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Site is very uneven and unfortunately due to recent weather were unable to cut the grass, but at least we were still able to stay. Lovely area for visiting local villages, but nothing really within walking distance. Nice shower with hot running water and good overnight facilities at a great price.

Site nicely maintained, facilities clean, quiet and the pub was lovely with great food and service. Only deducted location pints as there are no public footpaths nearby that you don't have to walk down main roads with no pavement to access, which is a shame because otherwise great.
