Shieling Holidays is based on the shoreside on the idyllic Isle of Mull. The site has hardstanding motorhome/caravan pitches and astro turf tent pitches, with some offering electric hookup. There are also Holiday Cottages and unique Shieling Tents for self catering camping options for all budgets. Enjoy sea and mountain views from your pitch, from Sound of Mull, to Loch Linnhe and out to Ben Nevis. The ferry is also just a two minute drive away.

About the site

The site is ideally located on the Isle of Mull in Craignure, with stunning views across Craignure Bay and beyond to the Ben Nevis mountain range. Spot otters, eagles and dolphins from your pitch! It is central on the east coast, so it makes a handy base for exploring the north, south and west of the island. There are 48 electric all weather astro turf pitches suitable for caravans, campers, trailers and tents. There are also 47 electric hardstanding pitches for caravans and campervans. For those looking for a little more comfort, there are also heated glamping chalets on site, with fully equipped kitchens and space to sleep up to six. When arriving on Mull after your long journey, you'll be less than a five minute drive around the bay from the ferry and in a handy position for easy access to all of the island's local amenities. The site is also well away from the main road, peacefully tucked away on a quiet, secluded peninsula where you can watch the ferries come and go. Just a two minute stroll to the local village pub offering bar meals, with further restaurant options, café, village shop, ferry and bus terminals, where you can catch a bus to Duart Castle, Tobermory or Iona (Staffa boat trips), all within easy walking distance through the village of Craignure. You can walk to the Island swimming pool, nine hole golf course, or Duart Castle. Meander through forestry tracks, go hill climbing or wander onto the shore, all directly from the campsite.

The site is open from March until the end of October, with opening dates varying in line with Easter.

Site facilities include hot showers, toilets and a dishwashing area. There is also a games room with a large ping pong table and mini pool table, plus a common room with hotplate, microwave, kettle and TV. There is a token operated launderette and free WiFi is provided.

The site is close to the bus and ferry terminal, local pub, restaurants and cafes.

Late arrivals

If your ferry is due to arrive in Craignure after 7.30 pm. in the summer months, or 5pm. in the winter months, please make a note on your booking enquiry form, or send us an email to let us know and once your booking has been fully paid and confirmed, we will send you a 'Late Arrival' email containing all the information you will require to self check-in.

Please note, the ferry that arrives in Craignure at 19:06 hours, gives you plenty time to reach us before we close.

If you have not informed us of a late arrival, but have not arrived with us before we have closed, we will automatically send you a 'Late Arrival' email, so please check your emails upon arrival, should you arrive and find reception has closed.

Between 1st April and 31st October.

9.30am to 2pm.

Closed for Lunch: 2pm to 3pm.

3pm to 7.30pm (5.30pm from the 24th of October)

A note from the site themselves...

Shielings have been on Mull for 35 years, long before glamping was ever even heard of. They were inspired by the summer dwellings of Highland shepherds tending their flocks by mountain and shore in days gone by!

Shieling Holidays are situated in a perfect location for exploring all the Island of Mull has to offer. After your long journey to arrive here on Mull we are just 2 minutes drive from the ferry terminal meaning you can get settled in fairly quickly and then go exploring, and believe us when we say there is plenty to keep you busy!

The island is pretty big in distance and there are loads of wildlife spots and walking routes along your journey through Mull. But if it is a quiet break you are after then rest assured the campsite has that to offer too. We are in a perfect spot to overlook the bay and watch the world go by with some wildlife spotting thrown in too!

Things to do on site and in the Isle Of Mull area

Bring your pooch and he'll have the time of his life! Your four legged friend can be walked freely along the enchanting coastline, or on local forestry walks. The local hills and mountains are readily accessible for those with a head for heights.

Wildlife is everywhere, with white tailed sea eagles flying overhead and otter families living on site, there are many, many opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Why not take a walk, or short bus ride to visit Duart Castle, the seat of the Clan MacLean.

Drive, or catch a bus to either end of the island to explore further. You'll be glad to hear that the site is located centrally on the island with Tobermory 21 miles north and Fionnphort 35 miles south.

Tobermory is the main town on the Isle of Mull, offering plenty cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs, coastal walks, not to mention the world famous multi-coloured buildings that line the main street, right on the harbour front.

The Isle of Iona is a short ferry ride from Fionnphort, or why not book a boat trip out to the Isle of Staffa to see the world famous Fingal's Cave, or watch and photograph the puffins (end of May to mid July).

There are plenty of white sandy beaches to choose from and a few black sands too, scattered throughout the island. With waterfalls and epic scenery around every corner, the Isle of Mull has something for everyone.
