Perfect campsite Recommends site
Small Tent - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2026 The campsite was beautiful.
We were in a flower meadow which had mown circles for pitches. We were allocated a pitch, so no stress about where to put the tent and car and a bit of privacy as the pitches are nicely spaced out.
It was a lovely walk through the fields to the facilities, which were clean and modern whilst situated in a traditional wooden building, adding to the aesthetic. The owner was super helpful and friendly on arrival and there is a lovely farm shop on site.
Beautiful views Recommends site
Small Tent - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2025 Beautiful location and fantastic large pitches. Has an amazing weekend!
Only downside was that we were relying on the farm shop for supplies and it was rarely open all weekend. The nearest shop is a 5 miles drive to, not ideal.
Peaceful and relaxing stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2025 We loved our stay. Location was lovely, relaxing and very peaceful.
Might have been helpful to get a welcome text saying about where the facilities were and if the shop would be open or not.
Would definitely stay again! The food in the pub down the road was also amazing, though it's not open on Sundays.
Super spot Recommends site
Medium Tent - Wood Field Camping Pitches Aug 2025 Super spot. Amazing views. Lovely farmer owners who genuinely care about their environment. Pub literally next door is one of the best in the country uk.
Hay on wye is close by and a lot less precious than you might expect (in a good way)!
Quiet & peaceful Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Flat Field Camping Pitches Aug 2025 Large, spacious pitches spread apart in large rustic fields. Fire pit is a bonus. Host was very helpful on arrival and left to own devices throughout the stay.
Would definitely go again, pub down the road does exceptional bar snacks…
Great stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2025 Great stay, Anita was very accommodating.
Excellent basic site in a great location Recommends site
Medium Tent - Wood Field Camping Pitches Jul 2025 Booked for 2 nights with my two boys (8 &10). Realised we had booked the wrong field (the wood field does not allow vehicle access and with 2 kids + all the stuff we had would not have worked), however the owner quickly found us another spot in a different field which turned out to have fantastic views of the nearby hills.
The site is a working farm and the camping is part of that so has a real back to basics feel. Facilities are down by the farm house, and more than adequate: toilets, showers, water and a washing up area. Also a shop with cold beers, firewood etc. You get loads of space and my two boys ran wild without disturbing anyone.
Also a good pub nearby and some great walking up the Cats back to Black Hill right on your doorstep. Would recommend if you want to get away from it all.
An excellent glamping experience Recommends site
Camping Pod - Camping Pod Apr 2025 We had a wonderful time at Chapel House Farm over Easter weekend! Anita, Simon and Griffin the dog were very welcoming and were on hand for any questions we had.
We were staying in the glamping pod which was very cosy for 3 of us, I think 4 people would have been a squeeze but you could do it if you're smart about luggage space! The pod came with a little plug in heater which kept it nice and warm and thick mattresses which were comfy and just what was needed. It's a good idea to bring walking boots/ wellies for the walk down to the toilets as it can get a bit slippery when wet.
The facilities were good, nice warm shower and fridge and freezer in the kitchen area too. The farm is a lovely place with chickens roaming freely, you can tell Simon and Anita have poured their hearts into it. The farm shop is stocked with food from the farm, too.
Would definitely visit again!
Lovely location, very helpful people Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Flat Field Camping Pitches Apr 2025 I was the first customer of the new season and was very pleased that I chose to stay here.
I really liked the ethical views and use of renewable energy, which was part of the reason for choosing.
I have forgotten the names of the owners, but they were both very friendly and helpful, with local knowledge shared freely. Getting towed out of the field when I managed to get stuck was the icing on the cake, thank you.
Our stay VW-Type Campervan - Church Field Camping Pitches Oct 2024 The site location was perfect for us. The facilities were poor and the price paid is definitely not value for money.
Peaceful, wonderful campsite. Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2024 Wonderful views, peaceful campsite.
Beautiful and spacious! Recommends site
Large Tent - Flat Field Camping Pitches Aug 2024 We stayed for a weekend with 2 small kids and had a fantastic time, there is a lot of space between pitches which was very special and the kids just rolled around in the meadow most of the time. The views from the camping field were lovely to watch sunrise/sunset over.
Easy access to lots of nice walks, historic sites nearby and great that the (fancy) pub nearby is walkable. Will be returning!
A great quiet site Recommends site
Medium Tent - Flat Field Camping Pitches Jul 2024 A lovely site, very rustic but clean facilities. Loved that the pitches were far apart and separated with the wildflower meadow, as it gave a lot of privacy.
We arrived on a quiet day and selected our own pitch. For those arriving on the busier Friday, pitch allocation seemed a little more haphazard.
Lovely family run site Recommends site
Shepherd's Hut - Peter's Wagon Jul 2024 Fantastic views, warm welcome, the home -reared and -grown produce is to die for and Peter's hut is charming.
Thank you for a lovely night away, we wished it was longer. We'll be back.
Stunning location next to lovely walks and gastropub VW-Type Campervan - Flat Field Camping Pitches May 2024 Amazing location and a wee walk to a fab pub! Would definitely come back.
Location, location, location Recommends site
Medium Tent - Flat Field Camping Pitches Apr 2024 A campsite at Craswall - it most certainly is, being the raison d'être. So, being Craswall, 'The Black Mountain's' fickle weather patterns influence almost everything.
You are camping, but please be aware the pitches all seem quite exposed to the elements (however, would great in Summer - big skies etcetera ). Your site facilities (shower, water, flushing loo) are down at the farmhouse, which can be quite a trek away. Having said that, there is at least one eco-loo & the facilities themselves are all robust, functional and clean.
Although I had only a brief stay, the farm/site owners were very friendly & helpful. Did I say that you're in Craswall?
The campsite gives almost direct walking access to the mountains and is also quite near to a much loved "Michelin Star' Gastro-Pub ('nuff said 😎).
To summarise, when previously there, there was only some "rough camping" available locally. For the few £'s that you pay and for the location alone, it's a 👍 from me.
Now when can I get back there…
Friendly and well located Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Church Field Camping Pitches Apr 2024 Great welcome and guidance finding a spot suitable, given the softness of the ground after weeks of rain. Friendly and helpful. Site is well located for walking.
Getting there was a bit like the Cornish lanes, make sure you make metal note of the passing places you pass and make sure you know how to reverse.
Lovely site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Church Field Camping Pitches Apr 2024 Really lovely stay, great facilities and a very warm welcome. We camped in our Caddy Camper and had everything we needed, and walked from the campsite onto the Black Hill ridge for a 10 mile circular.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you.
Fantastic Easter weekend stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Wood Field Camping Pitches Mar 2024 We had a lovely 3 night stay at Chapel House Farm, we were in the church field.
Anita was super helpful and welcoming. Nearby Hay-on-Wye is a lovely town, great for book lovers, and great walks in the black mountains are only a 15 min drive away.
We would definitely stay again!
Beautiful campsite Recommends site
Small Tent - Flat Field Camping Pitches Aug 2023 Really beautiful campsite at the foot of the Black Mountains. Facilities cover all bases and in great condition. The host is friendly and helpful. I really sensed a respect for the natural and cultural heritage of the area in how the campsite operates.
Great site, lovely people and lots on offer there Medium Tent - Flat Field Camping Pitches Aug 2023 Great site. Offered to join in curry night which was lovely. Lots nearby. Great cafe. Overall good stay.
Fantastic site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Church Field Camping Pitches Aug 2023 Great, quiet park with large individual pitches. Friendly owners who are keen to help. Beautiful views of the Brecon Beacons.
