Glamping Cabin - River View Huts (2-4 person - Double and Twin Beds, Dog Friendly)Aug 2026

The site is in a great location and the facilities are average but the ‘glamping cabins’ are far from it. Below what I’d expect even at cheaper rates.

Very well organised and set out site in a great location. Plenty of personal space, good hot showers, local animals are a treat!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

Toilets and showers not good or clean, hardly any power in shower and lukewarm, roads rocky and pot holed which, for people like us with dodgy knees, was an issue. Cafe options limited.

Great little place

Large Tent - Super Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

We stayed at Budle Bay last week - it was our 1st family camping trip and we had the best time! The campsite has everything you need - easy access to tasty food, it is small and intimate enough to be close to running water and showers/toilets wherever you are pitched, there is a friendly vibe and the staff can’t do enough to help you. You are 5 minutes walk from the sea and the coastal walk into Bamburgh is just stunning. You are also right by a bus stop - which was handy as we could go out and have drinks with lunch. The play park which is on site is fantastic and the kids really enjoyed it. We will be back. We loved this campsite and location so much!

VW-Type Campervan - Medium Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

Lovely site. Very quiet and peaceful. Excellent staff and service. Good size pitch. Good bus services at end of site. Short walk to beech. Only disappointment was no Wi-Fi apart from outside reception area. But was informed this will be installed end of year. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again next year.

Very disappointing

Motorhome - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

We were really disappointed with our stay at this campsite. When we arrived the male who greeted us was abrupt and verging on aggressive, which unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the visit. The pitches themselves are much smaller than expected, feeling completely overcrowded & crammed together to squeeze in as many people as possible. It felt like maximising revenue had taken priority over guests' comfort. As experienced campers who have stayed at many campsites over the years, we felt this was significantly overpriced compared with other sites offering far better facilities, more space, and a much friendlier atmosphere. We don't mind paying premium prices, but in this case it simply didn't represent good value for money. The campsite looks tired the pitches are unkempt and in need of attention. The children's play area was particularly disappointing. One of the swings was missing, and parts of the climbing frame appeared unsafe and in need of repair, which was concerning. To make matters worse, there seemed to be an excessive number of rules, creating an unfriendly atmosphere rather than a welcoming one. We decided to leave early, as we couldn't bear another night there. We left with the impression that the priority is fitting as many paying guests onto the site as possible rather than providing a quality camping experience. Sadly, we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it based on our experience.

Good campsite

VW-Type Campervan - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

Nice place. It's busy, but it's well filtered so you don't tend to get big groups of idiots making a noise. There's a park for kids and the pitches are flat. I've been a few times over the years and I'd go back.

What a gem of a campsite!

Medium Tent - Medium Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

We booked initially for 3 nights (Saturday-Tuesday), but enquired about extending until Friday. The onsite team are fabulous, friendly and very accommodating. The site is well-maintained, the team are very present and on-hand to assist. We booked a riverside, medium tent pitch and used the electrics as well. All perfect. Yes, there are rules about noise after 10.30 and it is a dark site, but that is why we chose to camp there. We ordered from the on-site food truck-pizzas, burgers, chips, cake and even breakfast items - all good quality, very reasonably priced and cooked from fresh. Toilet and shower facilities are spotless, as is the washing up area. There is a freezer for food/ice packs as well. There is also a play park at the entrance, which is great for children and again well looked after. Within reception, there is a small range of essentials and information about the local area. From the site, there are several walks to Budle Bay, Bamburgh and Seahouses. There is so much to see in the area and easily accessible by car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return at some point! 🤩

Regretted booking here

VW-Type Campervan - Medium Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

We drove 5 hours to get to this site. The front entrance looked promising as did the location. Get beyond the barrier and it all changes. Campers caravans all rammed in. Access roads in very poor state with large stones and difficult to walls on. Pitches had AstroTurf bits on to cover worn out pitches. Had an issue with our pitch. Asked for help or change. Computer says no was the response. But the toilets and showers awaited us. What a state. Mouldy dirty showers. Sanitary boxes overflowing and flies all over them. Not acceptable! Not cleaned anywhere near well enough or maintained by the looks of them. This may well have been a lovely site once some time ago but without its location, it wouldn't get many visits. It's not even like it's a cheap stay! Sadly, my only recommendation would be to search again.

Nice place, helpful staff! We needed some pegs and they lent us some along with a mallet and some guy ropes. Nice set up, bit of everything there. Would go back if we go to the area. The only thing (and its a small thing) is the shower timer is extremely short. Literally 5 seconds 🤣.

Great Site, would recommend to all

Great location with facilities for all types of camper, tent, motor home, caravan and even various lodges. Staff were very friendly and helpful even lending us an electric hook up cable. Food on site delicious, would definitely recommend the pizzas.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Medium Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

Location ok. Good walk to beach. Showers tired and unkempt. Whole place needs a makeover. Seasonal pitches are on some bits overgrown. All site needs some proper TLC. Booked for 4 nights, stayed 2. Adequate.

Site's response

Thanks for the advice. I do know from correspondence that you moved to a 5 star campsite some miles off the coastal area paying 30% more but which had manicured grass, a 5 star shower block and all the bells and whistles you personally appreciate. We were not your kind of campsite. We will continue to develop and improve but in our own way.

beautiful Location

Medium Tent - XL Super Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

Located in Budle Bay, its an outstanding area, at over £400 for three people for four nights, that's expensive and I expected better facilities. Showers that don't work properly, toilets that are locked for two hours a day to clean and are the only ones on the site. A café that isn't a café, but a hole in the wall and wasn't open as advertised. Nice place, but for the money, should have been better.

Site's response

Thanks for the review and we are glad you found us a nice place with some comments on what could be improved in your view. May I correct a few things that you said. We have 2 toilet blocks, not one and when one is being cleaned, the other is always open. We do not have a cafe but do have a takeaway. There is seating both covered and uncovered but we serve food, drinks etc to be taken back to your pitch, or to be eaten at the picnic tables. You only need a hatch to order at and collect your purchase when ready. It's hugely popular but if we are quiet during the middle part of the day, we shut to get on with other tasks. However, we are always open in the morning for breakfasts and the evenings until 8.30-9pm. Re: price of your pitch-perhaps some context would help the reader. You booked our biggest riverside pitch with a huge tent, an extra car, electricity and an extra tent at the busiest time of year on a campsite on the coastal strip of the Northumberland Area of Outstanding Beauty, in the middle of everything that is awesome to see in this area. Size and location of pitch, what you bring, and of course, our location in the geography of the area impact on the price but we are still the least expensive site locally. Come in a small tent with 2 of you and it's £26.

Very busy the toilets and showers are clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly

Motorhome - Large Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

There’s an outdoor cafe for breakfast on the Sunday morning before we left we got 2 very tiny buns with bacon and egg in one and Scottish sausage (looked like a Pattie ) in the other and one small cup of tea for £9 .
