Non electric grass pitches

On the southern fringes of the Yorkshire Dales, Crakemoor Campsite offers a scenic, almost wild camping experience. Located on a rural farm, you will be surrounded by resident animals and walking trails. There are 40 non electric grass pitches, welcoming tents and roof tents. For days out, the site is within 15 minutes of Settle, Malham Cove and Janet's Foss Waterfall, with Skipton 25 minutes away too. Dogs are also welcome!

We had the most amazing stay at Crakemoor Campsite in Skipton! The whole place was so calm, peaceful and relaxing — exactly what we needed. The views were absolutely insane and made the stay even more special. The lovely lady who checked us in was so friendly and welcoming, which was a really lovely start to our visit. We enjoyed it so much that we’re already looking at rebooking in three weeks for my birthday! Couldn’t recommend Crakemoor Campsite enough — we’ll definitely be back!

Stunning Views!

I can only recommend the campsite. The views are stunning! The facilities are simple but more than enough.

The site has breathtaking views, and is very close to the world class natural wonders of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss. The picturesque village of Settle is also only 15 mins away. can not go wrong, one of the best wee have ever visited. The hostess is super friendly too.

Not the worst, but also not the best

Not the worst, but also not the best. Wouldn't stay again. Campsite is in such an awkward spot, 10 mins drive down a narrow country lane filled with sheep and cows blocking the roads. Then another 10 mins down more narrow country lanes to get into the nearest town. Obviously, not the owner's fault, but enough to put people off leaving/coming to the site.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2026

A great campsite for a nearly wild experience. It does have facilities, they are basic but clean and adequate. The site feels very remote down a long farm track, but is very well located for exploring the south Yorkshire Dales. I particularly liked that I could book for a 1 night stay, my dog was welcome and the views from the campsite are incredible, the photos don't do it justice. For a true outdoor experience with no frills, this place is perfect.

Excellent pop up campsite

Outstanding views. Only for tents as access is via an unmade road accessing the farm & fields. A bumpy, stone riddled ride not for the faint hearted. The reward for careful driving is a great view. A couple of rustic unisex loos, shower and hot water kitchen area. I love this sort of approach to camping. Brilliant. Will be here again.

We had a great overnight stay with our 3 year old. Lovely remote, back to basics campsite, clean toilets, drinking water and wash up, great views and BBQ permitted.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2026

Only booked 1 night, but the views were great and staff friendly. Long drive from the road, but this isn't a bad thing at all. Remote and chilled - would go again. Only 2 toilets and it was moderately busy, so some wait time but again, not a deal breaker at all.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2026

Lovely stay, very quiet and good area for views. Quite limited by paths you could go for walks on, more somewhere you would have to drive to. Facilities were as needed but noticed there was a queue in the mornings for the shower and toilet. Overall a nice stay and we would happily return

Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2026

The term "all the gear, no idea" - that was me! Not quite the, "no idea", but it's 48 years since my last outing! 😂 Pros. A pop-up camp site with number limits set low on purpose. Bonus for us! Allowed me to book 2 nights stay over a B/H weekend when most others are only 3. Beautiful scenery set well off the beaten track. Pitch size was unrestricted, within reason, and a smiley Alison (host) checked our booking details once set up. Toilets and a Hot shower available. Possible improvements. This is subjective as it's a pop-up on a working farm. Shower change area could do with more hooks and a seat. Floor could benefit from some form of raised rubber matting as existing floor became very wet and dirty as campers came and went. Make sure toilet rolls are stocked up. That said, I really enjoyed my two days on site, slept like a baby! Didn't want for anything else. Thank you Alison. I'll definitely be back for another head rest! Kind regards, Mike L. .

Booked for 1 night as my first ever solo camping trip! I was understandably a bit nervous going out on my own but this campsite was absolutely perfect and I felt so safe. Will definitely be booking again for hopefully longer next time. Facilities were basic but clean, the view was stunning, would absolutely recommend.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Tucked out the way along a farm track with magnificent views of The Dales. Limited facilities with 2 toilets and 1 shower and 1 basin for washing up, gets a bit crowded and waiting times can be long at busy periods. Although advertised as not, there is drinking water on site. Proper country site on working farm, sheep and cows nearby. Nice relaxed atmosphere, would defo go again.

Love the quiet, isolated location. The road into the site was unexpected, but manageable. The site could definitely use another shower.

Very basic but lovely campsite with amazing views. More than enough for a short trip away. Owners were very friendly and facilities although limited were clean. Great base to explore from.

Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Once on site the host drove over and met us, very lovely. The site has the most amazing views, including sunset and sunrise, the site was tidy and the facilities are as explain no more no less. It is a working farm which we loved, lots of sheep and cows around the next fields. 20 min drive to settle and 30 min drive to Skipton. Nice and peaceful ☺️ we had a roof tent and no problem with the wind plenty of flat areas for parking and pitching. We will visit again. Thanks.

Great campsite!

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Had a lovely one night stay here with a small tent. The pitch was lovely and flat with great views and lots of farm animals around. Was a very peaceful stay with people evenly spaced out. Also the toilets and showers were very useful to have. Overall great stay and well worth it!

Looking forward to my next visit!

Great views across the Dales. Well signposted and easy to find. Friendly and accommodating people. Clean facilities. Good value. A lovely spot to camp with the core amenities covered.
