VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 This is the second time we have stayed here, we love the location, it's quite with amazing views and excellent for our dog (Max) he loves the river, and there's a dedicated area for dogs. The pitches are spacious and well kept, being able to have a fire pit is a bonus.showers and toilets are always clean. I have no negatives, we will certainly be back, thank you 👍
Families first camping trip.
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 This past weekend our family had our first camping trip as a family of four. We had a fantastic stay! The campsite was spacious, with a great location, and clean facilities. Loved that we could rent a fire pit and had convenient places to wash our dishes. The park and stream was a great feature for our young family. Both our children are 4 and under and we felt safe and comfortable.

Excellent dog friendly campsite
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 This site offers excellent value for money. The facilities are great, and it even has a gated dog run so you can let your pooch run around off lead.
We left early (due to the weather), but will definitely go back again.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2026 A really nice campsite in a fantastic location. People who run it are really friendly and helpful. Kids loved the play area and the views of the valley are beautiful. Great enclosed dog area.
It was great being able to get on the steam train to Bala direct from the campsite! The food in the Three Eagles pub nearby is also excellent.
Only thing that would improve it is larger toilet block with showers for the camping area, it got very busy morning and evening and there is little space and no shelves to put your stuff on while you brush teeth, wash face etc. Obviously, we were there in peak season so this may not be an issue outside these times.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 We had a great time camping here for 4 nights. Nice toilet/shower blocks. Lots of spaces for pitches. We would have loved to be abit closer to the stream though but that couldn’t be helped. The lady who checked us in and helped with the fire pit ect was great, nice and friendly. Would recommend to others who want to be close to Bala lake but not to close to be on top of the lake.
Fantastic Week Away
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 Our first time camping in our campervan and we've had the best time. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. The shop on site is reasonably priced. Not over inflated. The communal areas are clean and tidy.
We wanted a campsite that wasn't overly busy. There is an area near to the play area that gets busier so the kids are close to their tents. But the other areas are spacious all with amazing views.
The local pub was friendly and the food was really good.
We visited Bala lake on the train, The Lake Vyrnwy Dam, Barmouth, Dollgeleu, The Mach loop- planes flew over the campsite en route to there also.
A brilliant campsite where we will definitely visit again.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 Absolutely lovely place to stay. Everything you need and more. Beautiful setting and such good value. I spent 3 nights with my daughter and it cost only £51, additionally I washed my clothes for just £5 and hired a fire pit for the duration of our stay for an extra £3 BARGAIN! Total of £59. The toilet and shower blocks were always sparkling clean with plenty of soap and toilet roll.
Nice flat grounds, a huge park and beautiful shallow lake for the kids to dip their feet in. We've just left this morning and already booked another stay.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 Really lovely site. Very clean, well maintained and all the services needed. Shower could be hotter but that's my only niggle. Kids loved catching fish in the river with their nets and they made lots of new friends. The play ground was an added bonus. The local pub called the Eagle was only a 10 min walk and the food was delicious.
Some nice dog walks too (not well sign posted but if you walk past the eagle towards the main road you cant miss the path which takes you towards the lake) Will definitely return to this site. Thank you

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 What a great site, friendly greeting from the owner on booking in, he explained where things were.
Clean toilets/showers, owner on site many times in the day, cleaning and emptying bins so rubbish didn't become an issue. I didn't see anybody unhappy, that says a lot.
Fantastic area to visit. Bala Lake Railway by the entrance, nice café inside station, pleasant round trip on a narrow gauge railway. Pub, Yr Eagles, an easy walk away, plenty of food choices. Nice cycle ride around the lake, 12 miles, mostly on quiet lanes and shared footpaths just a bit on the road.
Nice ride up to the viewpoint on the back road to Lake Vyrnwy. A tough cycle ride but worth the effort. Views are amazing. Plenty of other quiet roads to cycle along. Let's not forget the low level planes that zoom across the area.
Peaceful campsite in a beautiful location
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 The campsite was perfect for us, it felt peaceful and not too busy. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. I also really liked that you could pick where you wanted to pitch. The site is in a location where you can see RAF planes flying over occasionally which we loved. When the sky is clear, it’s a lovely spot for star gazing. We will absolutely be back again.

Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 Absolutely wonderful time at Bwch yn Uchaf, couldn't have had a better time.
Facilities were 10/10, so clean, constantly topped up with basics like toilet roll, mopped daily & overall cleanliness was just amazing.
Shop onsite was also very handy, had all basics you could possibly need if you forgot any little bits.
Owners were amazing with helpful information of the area, things to do etc, just overall helpful, nothing seemed an issue for them. Can't fault anything at all. Would return for sure.

yes its a bit further out from the action, but honestly id take that any day. Is right next to the train, which is fab.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2026 We absolutely love camping, but we as a family usually do wild camping. This was our first experience as a family of 5 camping on a site, and we absolutely loved it!!
From arriving, being checked in, greeted and welcomed so lovely!
We honestly had an amazing time, the children have actually said and I quote ‘that was the best camping holiday ever’
Facilities were amazing, nice and clean, bins emptied regularly, fab washing up station.
We really enjoyed our time at the park, and playing in the stream! Bala lake is just over 10 minutes away so we spent some time there too! Great location, great facilities, great staff!

You could choose from 5 Fields to stay in and it was lovely and peaceful with great views and only a 5 minute drive to the lake and local town with great pubs and cafes. We would definitely come back especially with the price!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 Everything was wonderful, our family had such a happy stay here. Such a lovely spot by the river and plenty of choice of pitches. It was very quiet as we stayed Sunday to Tuesday. It’s great that they have the childrens play area, our girls really enjoyed it. The station for the steam train being right next door was brilliant and it’s close to Bala. Perfect location.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 We were a family group of 3 Adults and 5 children between ages 8-10. We were on the sites Non EHU pitches which was the nicer part of the site. Its a lovely well laid out site next to a shallow stream which the kids could safely paddle in.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 This must be the 5th or 6th time I’ve camped at Bwch yn Uchaf. Stayed as a lone camper, with friends and family and this time just me and my 9 year old son. Really well kept site, flat pitches, plenty of space, good facilities with a small playground area for the kids and a shower block with free hot showers! Fire pits available to rent with logs and other essentials sold at the site reception. Stunning surroundings with plenty of walks and hikes to explore straight from the campsite. Only a short drive to Bala or you can take the railway which is right at the site entrance. Will be back again - would definitely recommend!
