Serene, relaxing with simple and practical amenities

You would be hard pushed to find a more relaxing getaway, the staff really good, go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. Despite its off the beaten track vibe, the amenities are great, especially the spacious showers. Quite lovely!

Overall, average

A good space, although some of the fields slope and significantly, the bottom field has a lot of spiky thistles over a large area - we had to tweezer out the needles in our feet a few times. There were enough toilets and water/sinks to go round, but only 3 showers. The first shower we had was lovely and warm, but the second, freezing. We calculated that there were approx 75 - 100 people staying over the bank holiday weekend, so maybe that was why. Bonus is that we could have a campfire on the ground and the location is excellent.

Fabulous peaceful campsite

A wonderful peaceful campsite located a short walk from a fantastic pub with incredible food. A really top pick for those wanting a peaceful rural camping experience.

Amazing could not recommend enough

Absolutely loved our break away with our 2 boys (dogs) here such an amazing place so peaceful and so beautiful to see children playing out with no tablets or phones in sight. Children being children 🥰and safe 🙏 Staff were just lovely and super friendly and helpful. Thanks guys we had a lovely time with you ☺️ My only criticism would be or not really criticism 🙄 when we arrived we found a lot of mushrooms growing 😱and with 2 Labs, that could have been not so good! I went around picking them out to make ground safe before Hoover faces got to them 😱 Is there a way you can put a sign up maybe to warn people if there potential mushrooms there? Thank you 😊

Perfect

A really lovely spacious campsite. Great facilities including solar warmed water for the showers and clean well built and equipped compost toilets. Very peaceful and the friendly village is only a short walk away. We enjoyed walking through woods and beautiful countryside to Wakehurst (NT) one day and to Standen (NT) the following day. it was great to see families enjoying camping together.

Lovely location

Lovely location, very friendly staff. Only spoiled by someone having decided to flaunt all camping rules and put up high volume disco music at 10pm in the night. I was there for some piece and quiet with young kids so we were sleeping two hours already by then, very disrespectful and they kept going - I wish the comping organizers had stepped in but I don't think they are on site at night. I wasn't fond initially to have to go into an outdoor compost toilet, and clearly some people didn't read the instructions properly, but they were kept very well and clean; that was a nice surprise. I loved the firepits as well, and we had a very quiet corner - there's plenty available, the whole site has a nice layout with plenty of open areas and trees separating the fields. The nearby pubs are excellent too.

Site's response

Thank you for your feedback, but we would like to make a correction here. The music you heard was not on our campsite and wasn't played by our campers. We have a night warden who patrols every pitch and is onsite each night to ensure every pitch has a peaceful stay. On the night you stayed he was onsite and heard the music you mentioned above, he quickly established the music was not coming from the campsite but offsite. Further investigations revealed it was a private party as a property over 800m from the campsite but being played loud enough to be heard on the campsite. Unfortunately this is not in our control at all as it is not being played on our property. It is so frustrating for us as we work so hard to ensure everyone has a peaceful night and we are one of the few sites that goes to the effort of having a night warden. Alas, we must accept that sometimes things are beyond our control. Our campsite is mostly so peaceful so it is such a shame your night was disturbed. But we are pleased you enjoyed the other aspects of your stay.

Lovely campsite, great views, lots of space, very welcoming, fab pub in walking distance.

Campfire paradise

The best I've been lately. Spacious, leafy, and can set a campfire on the grass! Loads of space, gorgeous views & friendly crew.

Great site.

A really great site if you're looking for the off grid experience with just a sprinkling of comfort. The comfort is the excellent shower cabins which are large, have plenty of hooks, the water drains away efficiently and the water is hot and powerful, just perfect. Compost toilets are compost toilets these were clean and tidy, not fancy but do the job. Just be aware that certain parts of this site are quite hilly and uneven.

Warm greeting sets up the weekend

Actually stayed 2 nights. On arrival was warmly greeted and told about the facilities and where I could pitch. The facilities are simple and basic, perfect for me. The camping area is pretty and surrounded by woodlands, quiet and tidy. The weather was mixed to say the least but the site is a great base for local walks (which I did) and sight seeing, a great place to chillout and read. I will be back to enjoy the site once more.

Lovely site

Lovely site. Lots of space, which allows tents to be well spaced out. Wooded areas and large trees between fields creates a sense of being secluded. Hilly in most areas, so limited flat space for pitching. Owners regularly checked in to make sure we had all we needed. We will visit again.

Very welcoming and friendly

Beautiful site. Friendly welcome and appreciated having the little shop to get wood etc for a fire. Bit difficult to find a flat spot but not the end of the world to pitch on a bit of a slope. Shower was nice and hot. Really enjoyed staying at Hook Farm.

Beautiful spot & friendly folks

A great base for walks around the local area, with no need to drive to attractions and pubs. Lovely site with plenty of space so even when many pitches are taken you are a fair way from your neighbours. One thing to note is that if you have a 2-wheel-drive car without a powerful engine (as we do) it may struggle to get back up the hill from the lower field (especially when fully laden) so it's probably advisable to stick to the upper section! Overall, very pleased with the site and will definitely come back again.

Beautiful place to stay

Ridiculously spacious, there weren't even really any pitches at all, just a few fields surrounded by woodland where you could pitch wherever. Very quiet, all I could hear at night were owls, and very serene. Would recommend to those who are not put off by composting loos.

Amazing, such a beautiful spot

This is such a good spot, almost want to keep to myself. It's such a good place for families and small groups and dog friendly. Staff so friendly and nice. Will be coming back.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. It was a really enjoyable, quiet campsite perfect for families.

Friendly campsite

Really friendly campsite with great views. Excellent place for kids to explore and also a peaceful break. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Shower and toilet facilities very clean and you can buy logs and kindling on site. The only downside for us was that the site is quite sloping, which didn't make for a good night's sleep. It would be great if there were more levelled out pitches. Apart from that, it was a really good site.

A lovely quiet site, with plenty of space so the campers could spread out. The staff were nice and welcoming.

Excellent campsite

Recommended! But pack earplugs in case you are unlucky! We had a large group roll in next to what we hoped was our quiet spot and they proceeded to party until 4:15am! It was crazy. Normal volume so they were in rules, but still kept my whole group wide awake. Had I packed ear plugs, wouldn't have been an issue. The campsite is fantastic and look forward to going again.

Great campsite

Lovely spot. Really relaxed and good showers and toilets. Really easy to have a campfire (they supply wood and firefighters) which the kids love.

Great - shame about neighbours

Wonderful campsite, lovely setting, lots of space, just huge shame about our neighbouring tent. Group of 4 blokes who returned at 11:30pm, lit fire, sat around until gone 2am talking and joking loudly. It spoilt the night but otherwise, it was a great stay.

Great little site

Stayed here for one night in July. It wasn't overcrowded and as it's non-electric, it was really peaceful shortly after dark. Great local pub just 5 mins walk away, but make sure you book in advance if going there on the weekend as it was fully booked when we were there.
