A gem of a place! Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Remote working farm location, limited number of good sized pitches in enclosed fields area. Welcoming owner, relaxed countryside amongst the sheep!
Dogs welcome, walks from the doorstep- though be mindful of the country code.
Showers and toilets “rustic” ,and clean, well equipped and lovely hot water. Campers can use washing machine and dryer for £5 and £3 respectively.
Good pot washing area.
Me, partner and dog loved it, other campers were in families or solo.Children were interested in the animals . Quiet requested after 10pm
Stunning Location Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We stayed here for the Velo Retro event in Ulverston. The campsite is on a farm, it’s very well kept. The farmers are lovely and are very helpful. They keep the site clean and well Maintained. There is a little stream through the campsite. If you camp on the top field the views are even more stunning. As no large motorhomes it makes the site more cosy relaxed. Thank you so
Much will be back next year. Claire and Nick x
Perfect stay Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Very clean and peaceful site, very accommodating owners.
Surrounded by peeks, amazing walks and plenty of sheep, horses and cows walking around. we all really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back.
Brilliant family friendly cmapsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Good location, despite trying to come in the backway from Coniston Lake on our first day. A friendly farmer told us we wouldn't make it all the way if we carried on!
Facilities are basic, but clean and there was never any need for us to wait fro toilets and showers.
Gorgeous setting Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Lovely campsite in the most beautiful location. The drive in through the fell with herds of horses, sheep and cows is lovely.
It was clean and very affordable. Will definitely stay again.
Family Camping Trip Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Stayed for 2 nights in the May Half Term. The location of the site is a great location to access variers areas of the Lake District by car. The site is also a great start location for various walks through the Lake District.
The site itself is accessible by a single track road, as you would expect for a farm in the Lakes. The pitches are a good site, we had a large 6 berth tent with a single berth tent and a car on our pitch and still had room for 5 chairs outside the tent. There is a small stream running through the site that the kids enjoyed playing/paddling in.
The facilities were clean and cleaned regularly throughout the day. There are toilets & three showers. There was a sink to do your washing up and also a fridge/freezer available to use.
Great stay - off the beaten track Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Great 1 night stay. Quick and easy check in, no issues at all. Thank you.
Perfectly formed small campsite to the fell Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Such a beautiful location perfect for the lakes and Cumbria
Lovely stay Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 First time at Birchbank but will definitely be back.
Bank holiday camping trip Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Nice little camping site. showers, fridge and place to do dishes. It is really remote but perfect for a family with kids as it is safe enough and only a 20 min drive to shops and half hour to the lakes. The only negative thing was having to put the fire out at 10 other than that lovely stay
Great stay Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We have stayed here two years in a row, and it certainly won’t be our last. We absolutely love it here. It has everything we need and for a great price.
Nice little site in remote location. Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 This is a nice little site with all the things I needed for a short stay, the toilets and showers were clean, there's a washing up area and a freezer.
The views of the surrounding area are stunning, which brings the only slight negative for me, it's a very remote location.
Great! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Stayed here with a total of 4 people and loved the spot, great place to stay and not too crowded even on a bank holiday weekend!
Beautiful views. Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Beautiful surroundings. Camp site is on a farm.
Facilities basic but well maintained. Campsite owners very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 Fantastic place, have used it for years and would highly recommended. Linda and David are really lovely people.
Best experience Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 It was my first time camping and I really enjoyed my stay.
Shame about other campers Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 I love the quiet location of this site and the size, with it being on the smaller side.
Plenty of hot water. Showers were great and washing machine etc, were all perfect.
Slept really well, as everyone respected the 10pm quiet rule. Except for the last night, when I was woken every hour up until 3.30am, by a lady who didn't realise noise travelled so far and liked to have a conversation on the way to the toilet at 3.30am.
This has really affected my 6 hour drive home. I'm so tired. This is not the site owners fault, but just lack of people's understanding of the area they are in. Not sure it's suitable for groups who sit up late when it's so quiet.
Affordable but uncompromising campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Lovely brief stay, the campsite has all you could want.
Lovely stay in this campsite! Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Located on a sheep farm, this campsite is remote in a great area, about 20 mins from Coniston and 40 from Windermere.
The campsite has great facilities, clean showers/ toilets, fridge freezer, washing up sink and even a washing machine.
The owner is lovely, and you will see the farmers working with the sheep. It really felt like a unique stay - would recommend :)
Wonderful location Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 A real get away from it all location with a warm welcome.
Nice site on a real working hill farm Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Nice site, off the beaten track. No mobile signal, so feels very remote. Quite exposed to the wind and rain up in the hills, and the soil is quite shallow, so bring suitable pegs/stakes and mallet.
Filled with families and even some DofE groups. Basic facilities and the owner was regularly cleaning them. In the wet, would help to have small doormat or porch to help prevent trailing mud into the toilet block, and reduce the amount of cleaning they had to do!
Really lovely, peaceful, rural site with stunning views Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Basic, but does the job. Great pitch, stunning views, lovely location. Basic showers and toilets. Good washing up area. Great to be on a farm and surrounded by sheep and cows. Really idyllic.
Excellent Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Beautiful location, very well run site. Good for the southern lakes, the coast and the Furness peninsula.
Fantastic Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Great little site!
Fantastic experience for a family Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We (2 adults and a 7 year old) decided to choose this campsite because it had toilet and shower facilities, and drinking water, plus a good location in the Lake District.
When you see the entrance to the site you feel about uncertain but once there, you understand that it's in the middle of nowhere within a working sheep farm. Everyone there was friendly and got us sorted to be set up and the site itself was very clean and after 10:30pm it was all very quiet.
Fantastic views from the site, a couple of easy walks and about 20 minutes away from the closest town with large shops and takeaway food options. We would definitely recommend this site and for £20 a night if ever we decide to visit this place again. It's not a negative but signal was bad so plan ahead, downloading maps and shows etc.
