This is a very well-run site by excellent wardens. It is clean and very well-maintained. It has all the facilities you would expect on a 'good' site, but nothing exceptional given the quality of many sites nowadays. There is also a good range of (tent) camping options. My only criticism is that at £40 a night for one person on a hard-standing pitch with EHU it is the most expensive site I have ever stayed on. Friday and Saturday nights were busy and the site coped very well. The pizza van on Saturday was a welcome bonus, as was the bus stop right outside the gate.

Good site, excellent staff & location, immaculate showers/toilets. Only a couple of negatives, in our opinion, to be addressed. We were on pitch 21. On Friday night, there were two big dogs running around on the field next to our van, came through our canopy/ wind break knocking everything over. Surely dogs must be on a lead for the safety of children as well? Only other negative is Wi-Fi signal is pretty poor. This is a great site in a lovely location it's no way a negative review, but thought it was worth a mention.
Site's response
Hi Michael, many thanks for your lovely review. I'm really sorry that dogs came charging through your pitch. You're absolutely right, dogs are supposed to be on leads at all times and this is stated in our terms and we tell people to please keep dogs on leads. Our Wi-Fi can become weaker on a weekend when we have a full site, as everyone seems to be logging in at the same time. Look forward to welcoming you back at some point. Kind regards, Wayne & Team.

Really great stay here in the lower Peak District. The view from the top field was great, watching the sunset with a log on the fire a good way to spend an evening when weather is favourable. Bit windy up there but the view was the best on site. Multiple fields to pitch in, hard standing pitches for campervans and motorhomes. Facilities are central to the site, well stocked shop, clean and washing area. Rubbish disposal was hard to find and couldn't find recycling options only general waste but didn't ask for help to be honest. Value for money, pizza on site some days but a local pub with some good options literally across the road (don't order the Thai Curry though, other options and breakfast good though). Good walk along the cycle route to a cool cave (4m away).

Hi Rob, thanks for a great review, pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. All our rubbish is sorted and zero to landfill as per Peak Waste Recycling's policy, who collect all our rubbish. When you arrive, we hand each guest an information booklet with important information regarding the site, this includes rubbish disposal. Look forward to welcoming you back sometime. Regards, Wayne and the Team.

They wouldn't allow us to pitch near the toilets, with 2 in our group that had disability needs. I for one found the walk from the field up the hill to the facilities hard.
Site's response
Hi Steven, 5he lead booker booked your group of 5 bikers. We informed them that you will be over in the Meadow Field where we have no facilities and you'll need to walk back over to the main site to use them, which is a 5 minute walk. Unfortunately, when you arrived and asked to be moved over to the main site, we were unable to accommodate your request as the campsite was fully booked. We are sorry for any inconvenience that it caused you. Kind regards, Wayne.

We booked a last minute weekend away in May half-term with our 2 (6 & 14) boys. Spotlessly clean site in a beautiful location with plenty of walks and bike rides in close proximity. Was very busy when we were there but there was a lovely atmosphere across the whole site. Facilities were spot on and staff/owners very helpful. We tried the pizza van on the Saturday night which was delicious, sat next to the river. We will absolutely be returning in the near future, hopefully this time for a little while longer! Would highly recommend!

Nice campsite, but weather did affect our original booking

Staff friendly, camp very clean, tidy & kept on top of. Good location for walks etc. Unfortunately, the pitches we had booked at the top were flooded so we were told we had been upgraded to premium pitch. Whilst it was a secluded corner plot, there were some downsides to this. The river at the bottom was lovely but did restrict the children being able to play with balls as several went in and were irretrievable and meant we were further from the children's area. We were also right next to the road and entrance to the campsite and the local pub which could be quite noisy, and did affect sleep at times.
Site's response
Hi Evangelia, pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Sorry Toll Corner was not what you expected, hopefully next time, our top field wont be waterlogged and you can camp up there. It's a tough year with all this rain to keep our grass pitches in tip top condition. Kind regards, Wayne and the Team.

Lovely campsite. Very clean. Great toilet block, showers and pot wash area. Beautiful surroundings and a nice pub next door. We stayed in the meadow field which is across the road from the toilets etc. The site would be improved if there were a couple of toilets in this field as it was a bit far in the middle of the night! Also, l couldn't find any recycling facility. On the whole though, a great campsite and good value for money.
Site's response
Thank you very much for your kind review, Emily. All recycling is done at Peak Waste after collection from us. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards, The Bank House Team.

We aren't experienced campers at all, but we were made to feel very welcome and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower block was spotless and warm. The pub across the road an added bonus and the pitches by the river were very nice and very well maintained. The pizza on the Saturday night was excellent and the Manifold way was really lovely for walkers or cyclists. The mill tea room was very good with beautiful cakes. Would definitely recommend this campsite. Not far from Bakewell and Chatworth house and gardens, beautiful.

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Great location right next to a lovely pub and a bus stop right outside to Buxton or Ashbourne. Facilities were great. All immaculately clean. Handy on site shop, laundry and use of freezers. The on site managers were helpful and friendly. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Beautiful setting.

We stayed at bank house farm in April and what a lovely site, spotless facilities, friendly staff (Wayne and Ian) and great pitches right next to the river. Perfectly situated for weekend of walking, close to Luds Church and great for exploring cute villages and towns like Buxton. Site is great for couples and families including your fur babies. First time booking through campsites.co.uk, found it very simple and will be using again in the future.

Many thanks for your informative review Shaun, always great to know campers had a great time, we all give 100% to make Bank House the great place to make memories, relax and come back to at some point. Kind regards Wayne & Team

Beautiful site, helpful staff. Very clean and tidy, and quiet site. Only negative is how far you have to go for chemical toilet disposal - A lot of steps, so not ideal
Site's response
Hi Sarah, thanks for your lovely review. The chemical waste is located near the facilities as this is the only suitable place .We can't have it at the bottom of the site as we have the River Manifold running through the site. We are in the Peak Park, so we're not flat, it's only a few steps (5). Regards, Wayne and Team.

This was my first solo trip in my new van, and I was very nervous. The reception and warden were both friendly and welcoming but more than that, the warden came with me to get my van filled with water and set up, he found me a tap connection I hadn't realised I would need. When I was experiencing problems with gas, he and another camper came and helped me establish that it was a fault and it meant it needed to go back to the dealer. The site itself is immaculate and well laid out, it is quiet and well sited. I was particularly impressed with the enormous dog exercise field which meant that my working cocker could run to his heart's content safely. Across the road from the site is an excellent traditional pub with very good food. It's also good for walkers wanting to go to Thor's Cave or use the Manifold trail. A great site for dog lovers and those into peace and quiet.

This was our first adventure with a camper van and Bank House Farm was the ideal place. Wayne was super helpful every step of the way. Toilets and shower block were modern, clean and warm! Hot water always available for washing pots. Well lit at night without being intrusive. A lovely calm atmosphere and a beautiful river. We will certainly recommend to friends and family. Thank you!

Great campsite in the Peaks. Lots of walks, Manifold trail nearby. On site shop useful. Pub across the road, the Manifold Inn. 1 3/4 miles from lovely village of Hartington. Only downside is that facilities were up a set of steps (ok for fit and able bodied individuals). Would go back.
