Central location. Friendly staff. Lovely pizza van on site. Decent park for kids to play in. Facilities could have been slightly cleaner.

Easy to book and easy to find. We booked last minute and managed to get a hard standing pitch with electric hookup. All was great. There were plenty of showers and toilets which were clean. 5 min walk away was an amazing pizza takeaway. Even though it was busy, all was quiet by 22:30. A little more expensive than some of the other campsites but we had no complaints.

Great site in a great location. If you need Wi-Fi to download maps, do so before your stay as no internet available and fairly poor phone signal as site in a dip. I know when away it's good to escape social media, however having a phone signal is important to me - elderly parents. Make sure you book the exact measurements for your van to pitch ratio as this may cause a problem when busy. Luckily, we were offered a different pitch. Our van was physically measured on arrival as we had bikes on the back that added the length. Majority of staff very friendly and helpful. Perhaps it would be nice for them to relax just a little, condescending rule explaining is not necessary, especially when we agree with them. Overall, this is a lovely site with good clean facilities, offering you all you need.

Great spot for cycling to local areas and sight seeing. Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses easy on the bikes. The pizza oven at the edge of the campsite made a night eating in so easy - and very tasty. Showers were clean and would maybe benefit from a screen as the hooks for towels got easily sprayed, but that's just a personal issue probably. We would definitely use this site again if travelling this area.

Enjoyed a one night stay on the way home from Scotland, but will definitely be back. Had a beautiful walk to Bamburgh along the coastal path with a meal in one of the pubs. About a 6 mile walk there and back. Good quiet location. I'd say it's aimed more at more basic campers, tents and basic set ups rather than a more luxury site, but that means it has good facilities for pot washing, fridge freezer, food prep space etc. Toilets and showers are basic but clean. No separate cubicles for sinks, but good space between them. A great stay!

A lovely stay, the site is so peaceful and quiet. The team are obviously working hard to update the site and create a camping space with lots of options. The Hillside Huts are spacious and gave me and my dog lots of space to move around. The toilets and showers were very clean every time I used them and the grounds themselves were clean and tidy. There are some construction materials in various spaces, but it is obvious that the team are busy creating and building new resources for all campers, which will enhance the site further. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. As a woman travelling on my own, I felt safe and had no issues. A lovely site, close to lots of amazing walks and the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The site is really nice, it does however lack sufficient lighting of an evening. Thank you to the gentleman who was looking after the site, he was very helpful. Will definitely visit again.

A great place to stay with lots of hard standings for winter use. The owner very accommodating and helpful, thanks for the loan of the torch.

Thanks Chris for the positive review. We are always happy to help light your way, especially as we are a dark site!

Nice little place, a great location and really friendly staff. A few bits of the park left unfinished, could be time of the season though. Can't wait to come back in the spring.

Thank you for your positive review. We have lots of plans and improvements to make when we close at the end of the month for our winter break. You will see the difference next year when we reopen in March, take care.
Pricey!

For £28 a night without electricity or any other benefits I feel this site out of season is overpriced. The pitches are close together and rather like a car park with grass dividers. There was a lot of activity, with arrivals and departures early and late. In high season, this is probably a good site for location and money but for a solo traveller in winter, expensive and not special.
Site's response
I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us but I believe that might have been your unrealistic expectations. For example, the only other campsite in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is open and has hard standings charges £39.85/night, so we charge considerable less than they do. Also, as a solo traveller, you would feel the cost more as like most holiday destinations, our basic unit price is for 2 people and thus would works out at £14/person; hardly expensive for a hardstanding pitch on a site with showers, toilets, grey water disposal etc. In addition, it costs more to run a site with full facilities in winter than summer; heating for example, so your expectation that less guests should mean it's cheaper isn't accurate on sites with full open facilities. In summer, that same pitch is £21. Also, though it might be dark and you might have gone to bed early, it's quite normal for other guests to go out and enjoy the area, go for a meal etc. They will return after dark, but as long as they are within our barrier (which shuts at 11pm and opens at 7am) then that should not be considered unusual; though to you it might seem late. A guest did leave at 7am but again, that would be normal and totally their choice as they had a long journey to make. It was sadly, not to your liking but surely part of the give and take of being on a campsite and not our "fault". For accuracy, we have a variety of kinds of hardstanding. True, some are in rows with grass alongside but others are not in rows. We have full gravel hardstanding pitches and hardstanding pitches alongside our river, plus a wide range of full grass pitches for use in good weather. All have electricity and some full facilities. We have tried to cover all options whilst keeping the site natural looking and beautiful. You booked our basic hardstanding but you could have chosen a different one. We wish you well.
Nice stay, good location!

The staff were really helpful and friendly, ideally located to visit Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses. The showers and toilets were clean enough, pitches are quite close together but it wasn’t full when we visited so we had a bit more space.

Really disappointing. Cramped and dated site. Everything looked really tired and needed updating. The showers and toilets were not particularly clean either. They are spending money adding additional facilities but they should update their old stuff first. The staff were friendly so no complaints there.

Nice location with lovely night skies, friendly staff. Not as clean as some of the sites we've been to at similar cost, but adequate for a couple of nights. Short drive in to Bamburgh and Seahouses where's there's plenty to see and good fooderies. Fabulous Pizza Company close to the site, but recommend you pre-order!
