A totally magical activity weekend!

We had the most wonderful time at the Old School Campsite! Me, my partner and our 2 year old went for the activity weekend and loved it. I've not done anything like this before, but the owners made everything easy. We did a diverse mix of activities, some outdoors and some in the cosy craft studio (complete with tea!). We absolutely recommend this trip to anyone, especially with a family. The location is stunning and the stars at night were the brightest I've ever seen. Everything was sorted for you, the bell tent was ready when we arrived, with a lovely double bed and the cot with bedding. There was a nice big box of bits we might need, like pots and pans and plates and bits, and a gas stove outside already set up. We arrived on the Friday evening and brought some campfire beans to kick us off, but all the rest of the food was brought to your tent! Imagine! We had yummy fresh pastries for breakfast, a packed lunch filled with goodies and then a home made pizza in the evening. We all felt very looked after. We chose to do the archery as our first activity, which was so fun, we loved the games like trying to pop a balloon with an arrow! It's pretty addictive and by the end everyone was improving and the friendly competitive spirit alive! Haha. I felt like a Robin Hood! There were all ages getting involved, even my 2 year old tried it. Then we decided to do an indoor activity for the afternoon, so chose Pewter Casting. It was nice to get inside for a bit, and loved how quickly we could get stuck in actually making our bits. I made a tree of life keyring which I'm very chuffed with! Then after a night around the fire and the home cooked pizza, we woke to more pastries (I could get used to this) and then Bushcrafts. We did lots in the 2 hours for this, from making a couple of different types of shelters, making a fire from scratch and then cooking sweet bread over the fire. There was a great vibe with the other families, everyone was helping each other and it was honestly something that I will not forget. It was lovely seeing my 2 year old finding sticks to make our little house. The skills they taught us felt practical and real, not just a gimmick. Which might sound silly to say! All activities are either a short walk from the campsite, or on the campsite itself. This was good with our little one as it's always handy to be able to dash to the loo etc, or pop her down for a nap (although she was far too excited to do that). Both Rachel and Stu are good teachers, and they also run first aid courses so we always felt in very safe hands! So there you have it, we can't fault our trip, amazing lovely small location, lovely friendly owners, tons of different things to try and you don't have to bring all your camping gear… just show up. And last but not least.. there are real loos and a shower. We felt very posh! We miss it already! We'll definitely go on an activity weekend there again!

Beautiful location, fab facilities and lovely owners

We stayed in the Bell Tent which was our first experience of glamping and it was spot on! Stuart and Rachel had thought of everything you could possibly need to make our stay as simple as possible. Cutlery, crockery, utensils, BBQ, kettle etc and a very comfy bed with solar-powered phone chargers. It was so peaceful there and you're surrounded by amazing hills and countryside. It is a real escape! Although we didn't have time whilst we were there, there are loads of interesting and unusual crafting and activities sessions available, which we will definitely book next time we stay.
