Clear filters Last night stop-over
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Small Pitch Jun 2024 I must admit when I first pulled on to the site I liked the look of the site and the owner was most helpful.
Then I went up to the facilities block and the men's was completely shut off, with builders equipment blocking all access, however the women's was open and the wife said they were lovely. After a bit of thinking 'what have I done stopping here?' I realised that there was another block in the other field, so I wandered over there and, well, it was like walking into a five-star hotel room.
In fact I had a shower this morning and I can honestly say I have never had a shower that good in any hotel ever.
The campsite was really nice, friendly, welcoming and in fact homely. I would highly recommend this site to anyone.

We're part way through a total refit of the facilities block that you found. Behind the scenes, the gents has been totally re-ceilinged, replumbed, rewired and refloored and this week (if all goes to plan) it'll be re-walled and new partitions installed. It's a total refurbishment and modernisation, and then once completed, we're moving onto the ladies to do the same.
Plus, the new solar panels are going onto the roof on Monday, so from then on, all of the hot water will be supplied by solar!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the other facilities block - since we completed it in Summer 2023, it has proven to be very popular.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 Amazing, brand new facilities. Friendly staff and lovely touches all over. Very handy if stopping over up or down the M6. Would recommend.

Our stay
Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 Super site in a great location for enjoying both the Yorkshire Dales and the Morecambe coastline. Very dog friendly and there is a lovely walk in either direction up the beautiful canal straight from the site. Fully recommend and we will definitely be back.

Just perfect
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Motorhome and Campervan Pitches May 2024 We had a wonderful overnight stay at this site on our way back from Scotland. The facilities are second to none. Paul obviously takes a lot of pride in his site and it shows. We booked a table at The Crooklands Hotel, just across the road, for an evening meal and that was great too.
Also over the road you can walk along the canal which was perfect for stretching our legs and the dogs. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Best facilities on a campsite
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 An amazing, quiet little gem. With plenty of space between pitches.
It was nice, quiet and family friendly. The facilities are amazing and wouldn't look out of place in a 5☆ hotel.
The owners were friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be back.

Great little site with superb facilities
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Small Pitch May 2024 Paul was a great host, very welcoming and explained site well. Great toilet and shower facilities. Easy set up, good Wi-Fi (kids were happy) and in a nice location for walks along canal.
Recommend the pub for food too but definitely book in advance (we didn't but got lucky).

Wet half term week
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 Owners very helpful and knowledgeable of things to do with kids. Lovely and ideally placed campsite close to all the lakes and what they have to offer. Definitely revisit.

Lovely and friendly
May 2024 Very good site with friendly and helpful staff. Only minor criticism is that the toilet block could have done with more frequent cleaning as it was the busy Bank Holiday season.
I would definitely recommend this site and will return at a later date. Thank you.

Ahead of the BH weekend, we'd given the grass an additional mow, so that it looked as good as it could possibly be. The downside was that this produced quite a lot of grass cuttings and, despite the additional trips around with my sweeping brush, dust pan and hand brush, there were always new grass cuttings to greet me on each visit.

Family of 4 en route to Scotland
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 We stayed for two separate nights en route to and from Scotland. It was a very convenient location for this as it's close to the motorway. Campsite is close to a pub and canal. The pub was fully booked for food quite far in advance, so we went into Kendal and ate at Pedro Casa, which was fab.
Lovely clean site and excellent host. Clean modern toilets/showers.
Pitches are quite close together and the whole field is used - no central grass area for the kids to run around. Someone told my kids to stop running around on the first stay, not sure whether a member of staff or another camper. We are regular campers and this has never happened before!

You're absolutely correct that we don't have a green area for children to run around on - as a site, we host very few families with small children and we market ourselves as being suitable to couples and older children 13 + and for people who are coming away for peace quiet. We're not set up for children running around! As regular campers, possibly you've previously booked at sites that are more suitable for families with smaller children.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 Really great little site. Easy to find, great stopover on way up to Edinburgh from Derbyshire. Facilities are better than a 5 star hotel. We were 1st time motorhome users and friendly owner was very approachable for any advice. Local pub was great too. Booked on App and very dog friendly and super food. Highly recommend both site and restaurant/ pub.

Our stop at Little Acre
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 We stopped at this site on our way back from Northumberland. It is a lovely site and the facilities were excellent. There was plenty of room for the van and awning.
The owner was very helpful and informative, would highly recommend this site to fellow campervan owners and campers.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 A really lovely site with a great location to get outdoors.
Even though the site was fully booked, it was super quiet and peaceful. There were the most amazing smelling diffusers in the toilets (it's the small things!).
There was some work going on to the showers in the caravan field, so we all used the block in the other field which was super modern and spacious. The 20p charge was well worth it, no annoying push button shower, lovely and hot, no draught under the door either!
I think we'll be adding this to the visit again list!

Fantastic little site with amazing facilities
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Small Pitch May 2024 We arrived late but communication with Paul meant we were directed straight to our pitch. The site is spotless and the shower facilities are the best I've experienced. There is also free Wi-Fi, which was a lovely bonus. We only stayed one night but have plans to return soon.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2024 We received a very detailed email from Paul with all the information. But he wasn't there when we checked in and gave us the nicest pitch available. The sanitary facilities are great and super clean!. Totally nice check in in the pouring rain. We would recommend it at any time! Good pub right next to it!
