Busy place
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 On arrival, after having trouble finding the site, as postcode took us to a different location.
Staff friendly and welcoming, showed us to our pitch. Site provided all the basic things you need, but didn't appear to be any location to fill up campervan water tank. There was only one location to get your drinking water.
The wash rooms are large, which seemed ample for the amount of people there, but often found the sink area dirty and messy (probably due to the amount of people on site) but only one hand dryer.
No dog mess bins, so was unsure where l was supposed to put the bags apart from in the general waste bin. Overall, a good site but a bit too busy for me.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 No issues at all, thanks! Maybe the price for a small tent, non electric, when I used just a little bit of water, is a tad much. Great location!
Excellent stay and highly recommend especially with kids
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2025 We had a fantastic two night stay in our campervan with awning! Our 8-year-old especially loved the newly refurbished playground and the Thursday night pizza from the shop — he declared it the best pizza he's ever had, mostly thanks to all the delicious, gooey cheese! We were lucky to have an excellent grass pitch near both the park and the toilets.
It's a large site, and we noticed lots of families brought bikes, making the most of the old airplane tracks and wide roads for riding around. The toilets were cleaned regularly, and the on-site shop was well-stocked with camping essentials, toys, ice creams, and games to keep the kids happy — plus, they even had the emergency jam we forgot!
We only live just up the road and have often come here for walks, so it was lovely to finally stay over. We're really glad we did!
Even liked the new forest ponies licking our car on the way out!!
We will be back.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 I can here as a child, a mere few years ago. We camped in the exact same spot!
The site was spotless and despite the rain, the toilet blocks and showers were clean and warm.
We had a fab time and wished we could have stayed longer. A little disappointed that we didn't get a round of applause from fellow campers after packing up in the rain, with the dog and the world's smallest car. But, we managed to knacker out a patterdale, so it was a massive success.
Will definitely be back.
Heart of the New Forest Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Great location in the heart of the New Forest!
Great camp site, in truth the only thing that let it down were the showers and toilet blocks, which were a bit dated. Nothing to ruin our trip at all, really clean and everything worked fine. Staff were friendly and helpful, on-site shop really well stocked.
Good playground for the kids which they spent lots of time in. Would definitely go back!

Shop is well stocked and doggie bath would have been useful if needed. Toilets and showers are plentiful and spotlessly clean.
VE Day weekend

Such a wonderful area with walks and cycle routes all around.
Lovely to see the efforts made for VE Day as well. Definitely coming back.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 Booked our first break away with our dog in a campervan to see how he'd get on. Had a great break at Helmsley. Everything was well appointed, staff were friendly, shower block and toilet facilities were spotless.
Went during term time so quiet with very few children around, which suited us.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 We had a wonderful stay at Homesley. Staff were very friendly. The site was huge.
Plenty of space for caravan & awning plus car. The facilities were clean every day. The walks just outside the site were absolutely stunning. New Forest ponies everywhere. The site was a good location for woodland walks and beach visits.
We would 100% recommend this site and will also would book again.
Easter weekend
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 Loved the site, although it would be nice to have an adult only section. We do have our own children but still be nice not having kids cycle through your little bit of space!
We will definitely be back in school term time.
Your post code on a sat nav took us a mile away from the site. Can that be sorted?

A large site with lots of space around the pitch. Site staff were very helpful and friendly. The facilities were very clean and well managed throughout our stay.
It was a pleasure to stay in a site that was peaceful and very quiet in the night time.

Not quite what I expected
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Apr 2025 I booked a hard standing with electric hook up. My previous experiences of hardstandings had me expecting some kind of individual bay to park in, separated from the next with a strip of grass or something. Not so here. The old airfield run way is the hardstanding, so it felt like we were parked in a car park rather than a campsite. The grass pitches were much friendlier looking and I wished we had booked one of these instead.
The toilet block closest to us were not open, but the other block had plenty of clean toilets and a few showers and wash basins. Further to walk for us, but not an issue. The welcome from staff was friendly and helpful.
There is a site shop which is good to see, but there is not a great deal of choice. It was hard to make a complete meal from the available selection (I forgot to pack my fridge before leaving!), especially if not a meat eater.
There are walks directly accessible from the site which were lovely and not far to drive to the coast. There is a play park with a cool airplane paying homage to the heritage of the site.
The price of 1 night with electric hook up cost us £38 which is quite steep in my opinion. I would recommend the location for 1 night stop over, but I wouldn't want to stay for a week on the hardstanding area.
Family friendly site!
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2025 Holmsley was everything we wanted! Both of our children spent most of their time making new friends in the newly refurbished play park.
The site was quiet and we enjoyed how spacious it was as pitches weren't packed in close to each other. Having ponies grazing right outside the entrance was also lovely!
All in all, we had a fantastic time! Staff were also very friendly and helpful!

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Oct 2024 A WW2 airfield, which was perfect for me as my mum and dad met whilst serving in the RAFVR and WAAF. Rio loved his walk along the old runway and peri-track. Such a warm welcome and the facilities were spotlessly clean. Will be back.
