Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Lovely site in the heart of the new forest. Loved the fact that it was in the woods rather than in a big field, much more picturesque and gave much needed shade for the dogs. So lovely to see the wild ponies wandering around as well.
great campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 we really enjoyed our stay here. There was lots to do in the surrounding area and the campsite was well maintained
Brilliant stay Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Had a great time. The staff where very friendly and welcoming. It was perfect for getting out of the hot weather being under the amazing trees. Lovely to see the horses and cows moving around. We will definitely be returning.
A blast! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 We stayed 5 nights at the Hollands Wood Campsite and it was a blast.
We do not have a vehicle so all our equipment was carried the old fashioned way. Good thing that Brockenhurst station is a 20 minute walk from reception and there is a Tesco and a Coop next to the station for all your food needs.
The site is large and you can pretty much pitch anywhere you like. Don't feed the horses or ponies! It is a wooded site so pitches are not all grassy, more dusty and tree debris. Relatively quiet, sometimes people get noisy at night, but not too bad. No fires allowed, but cooking off the ground in a BBQ or gas stoves are ok. They sell isobutane cannisters, in my case, the Go System 2220 was compatible with my Campingaz Bistro 2 which requires the CP 250 cannisters, if that helps in any way.
Trekking through the New Forest was lovely, we even ran into wild deer grazing, and I mean lots of them! Family friendly and the bathrooms and showers were clean and respectable, and enough for all, no queues. For washing up, there were queues sometimes but generally, I didn't wait much. There are horses everywhere, which brings me to one downside. There is poo everywhere as well, which can be a bit unpleasant, particularly when walking around during the night. But, the good with the bad. I only wish they had more activities going on on the site, archery, axe throwing, survival, I believe the kids and many parents would enjoy this if implemented.
We took the train to Lymington, just one or two stops from Brockenhurst to visit the Sea Water Lido and it was a blast! Definitely recommended. And we also took the train to Bournemouth for one day and enjoyed sandy beaches. Our tent was safe and untouched for all the time we spent off site, and it was a lot.
I give the Hollands Wood 5 stars because it deserves it and my son enjoyed it immensely.
Great site but busy Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely pretty site amongst lots of trees. Great facilities. We camped in Aug but didn't really realise quite how busy it was going to be - our fault though. Good location close to Brockenhurst with lots of places to eat. Many interesting places to visit locally. Beautiful ponies and wildlife.
Downsides. You could hear busy road which runs alongside the site. Virtually no internet connection (Wi-Fi not working either), no freezers and would recommend going outside school holidays if you prefer a quieter campsite (we have kids!).
Great campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely camping location amongst the trees in the forest
We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Facilities were good.
Lovely location and facilities Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 We had a lovely stay. 5 min drive from nearest town (Brockenhurst, I recommend for food shop or a great location for walks), shop on site for essentials, great location for walks.
Very friendly and helpful staff even though they were so busy! Lots of toilets, showers and washing up area. Always very clean. Phone charging was limited. Overall great for the price and would recommend to anyone wanting a proper new forest experience with horses and beautiful scenery.

Road trip Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Great campsite. With a lovely holiday buzz.
Showers and toilet facilities were great. Lovely soft toilet roll!
No fires and dogs on a leash killed the camp vibe VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Nice staff, with clean and well equipped premises.
But we were not allowed to have a fire, only BBQ and they had to be off by 9pm. Also, dogs had to be on a leash all the time. Those two things killed the camp vibe for us.
Will not come back as there are other New Forest camp sites where you have fire pits and dogs can roam freely.
Please review the rules!

We loved the fact we could walk for miles in the forest and walk to Brockenhurst.
Having horses walking around the site really added to the atmosphere.

Great location Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Great location. It's close to the main road which is a massive convenience but can be a bit noisy.
Close to the pubs in Brockenhurst. Lovely to be in the New Forest and ponies close by.
Friendly, helpful staff Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Friendly, helpful staff. Good location, really nicely kept, clean.
Nice pitches all be it one side is the better side with sun coming up and open forest to look over. The middle is a little congested but good pitches again. And the left side that we stayed on was more secluded and covered by trees. Only downside is the road is noisy day and night.
Unfortunately, second night was marred by some drunken boys/girls around 11:30pm. Felt for the people closer to them. Not sure how you'd report it, but shouting and swearing with kids about spoilt it a bit. Apart from that, it was chilled happy atmosphere.
Definitely go back and recommend.
There's a little shop that does some essentials that not really advertised. Milk, charcoal, snacks, ice cream etc.
Great campsite, family friendly and clean facilities Recommends site

1 night became 2! Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Came off ferry from France to drive home. Needed to stop as tired. Found campsite on line and booked easily. Thought oh just stay a night as seemed remote. Info was waiting for us (as after 8 and wardens finish shift). Easy to follow. My goodness it was an enormous forest and eventually picked a spot.
It was so beautiful!! Ponies wandering around the van and a view of trees and fields! We booked another night and walked to nearby village, Lovely! Dog enjoyed the walks and nearby river.
Facilities fab. Hot water, clean. We did our holiday washing. Staff were all amazing!
Will be back!!
