Relaxing, welcoming, clean site with great fishing & facilities. Have been here a few times, as a couple & with grandchildren and have no complaints whatsoever. Great, well looked after site, well run with everything you need. Great fishing. Love the peace and quiet - very tranquil with immaculate shower and toilet facilities. Great electric hook-up (doesn't keep cutting out!) Easy access and exit during your stay via electronic plate recognition, making it easier to pop to the local or shops etc with peace of mind knowing that no-one can just drive onto site without being seen! Owners live on site which is a bonus in my opinion and easy to contact if needed. Def would give this 10/10 and look forward to our next visit . Great for kids first fishing trip and you can take your dog, as long as it's kept on a lead at all times which is great! Note - make sure you have all of your supplies as there's no shop on site.

We have stayed here when it used to be called head fen, and always enjoyed our stays, but since being taken over by Alex and Katie, the site has improved immensely. The views across the fens are second to none, with some of the most wonderful sunsets I have ever seen, the toilet and shower block is kept spotless and waking up to nothing but the sound of birds is one of the best parts of every morning. It is a truly wonderful place to stay.

Site's response

Things to do on site and in the Ely area

You won't need to leave the site for some great fishing. There are three lakes and one resivour oniste for guests to book a day pass to. The lakes have varying species of fish and are split into ability levels and fishing types.

Tosh's Lake is described as for the pleasure angler, Trev's Lake is for anglers who like to use conventional float and feeder tactics as well as the pole and the Snake Lake is for anglers looking for some serious sport. The reservoir tends to be reserved for those staying in the lodges along the water's edge, and day passes can be included in some of the bookings.

There are plenty of walks and cycle paths in the local area, including the Wicken Fen - Ely Ouse NCN 11 path loop. You can join the route at the Ely Cathedral (15 minutes), this path follows a scenic trail along the River Ouse and back into the city.

If you're looking to keep the kids entertained, the Skylark Maize Maze and Funyard is a great day out. With a 3km hedge maze, tractor trailer rides and an onsite cafe.

Other attractions include:

  • The Stained Glass Museum (15 minutes)
  • River Great Ouse (15 minutes) *Welney Wetland Centre (15 minutes)
