Great little getaway

Ali and Tim made us feel very welcome and were really helpful. We enjoyed seeing the chickens free ranging around the site, although a little disappointed that they hadn't laid the day we wanted their eggs! We visited Peak Wildlife Park and Ilam (NT); both within easy reach and both worth a visit.

Short stay at common end farm

Excellent bank holiday weekend

We arrived Friday afternoon to a busy site but we never struggled all weekend to get to the facilities and have a morning shower. The pot wash was under cover so if the weather was bad, it was fine. The showers were warm and very clean and also, no charge. On our day of leaving which we had to be off the site at 12 noon, we were asked how long we were going to be as they needed access to the field, we were only 4 mins late leaving the pitch. Overall, a great site great location and the weather made it a fab weekend.

Lovely quiet campsite

The location was perfect for us, as we were using it for a base to visit Alton towers, which was only 12 minutes away by car. Really nice welcome, and good pitches. Facilities were always clean and are quite modern. Little shop onsite. We had a relaxing time after the hectic days out and it was great to come back to quieter surroundings. Would definitely return.

A lovely site

We stayed here for three nights while visiting Alton Towers as it was only ten minutes from the park and a great price. The site was lovely. Loads of space to walk around and lots of children playing safely. The ground was beautifully flat and so pitching the tent was easy. The facilities were lovely and clean and very accessible. The site is lovely and quiet, barely any traffic noise at all. All in all, great value for money. We will definitely be back.

A superb site!

This is a fantastic site for a stay away. It was uncrowded, even when almost full, and the wardens, Tim and Ali, were very friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were spotless and we enjoyed regular visits from the chickens! We will definitely use this site again and recommend to others.

Great clean place

We had a great three days here. Everything was clean. Enough space to set up. It's just a shame we had our dog and it was so hot, so couldn't venture out too far and not much for the kids to do there. The showers and toilets were always clean and the washing up area was big enough for everyone to be able to do what they needed to do. The dog walking field was great to make sure my dog got a good run around off the lead when there was no one else on it. Really nice campsite.

Absolute fantastic place!

Brilliant spot for nice camping. Close to local shops and brilliant walks for the dogs. Very dog friendly. Very clean facilities. Happy and approachable staff. Will definitely be coming again.

Nice if not weekend

This would be a lovely campsite, well located and has good facilities and a lovely team of staff looking after it. However, the pitches are far too close together. In the week was fine but when it filled up on the Friday night it was just horrible. W were packed in like sardines having to listen to fools next to us playing guitars and the only view we then had was a wall of tents. Couldn't get out fast enough on the Saturday morning. Such a shame thus gets it down!

My stay

Needs more facilities, had none for children. No food at all.

Thank you for your review. We love to see parents and children using the large expanse of grass to play games and children using their imagination to create games on the campsite. We do not sell enough food to warrant a food shop, especially as there are supermarkets which can offer a wide choice close by in Ashbourne.

Quiet clean and tidy

There is one field with great views make sure you request it. The 6amp site could not run my kettle it kept tripping out! Site is nice plenty of space.

Thank you for your review. The Pretty Field has amazing views that we never tire of seeing. A 6amp pitch is only suitable for a low wattage kettle, charging phones and lights. We do offer 10amp pitches which are more. suitable for a household kettle of around 2000watts. We hope to host you again at Common End Farm Campsite.

1 nights stay

Had a great nights stay here for the kids first time camping. Great views, very clean and welcoming. Would definitely return for a longer stay.

Staff were lovely site was clean and well maintained with some lovely views.

Amazingly, lovely site!

Site lovely. Staff lovely. Location lovely. My first time camping at 45 and I was terrified. This place made me love it. I can't wait to return!

Lovely clean and friendly site in a fantastic spot

Great site in a fantastic location. Friendly service and offer of assistance when struggling to move our 'van. Can't comment on the showers as didn't use them, but I'm not going to mark them down on that basis.

Lovely stay

Views were stunning, the non electric pitch is the one with the best views. Staff was very friendly and helpful, toilets and showers were very clean. The chicken walking around was so nice to see, they were really cute.

Brilliant local stay

Wonderful campsite, owners were on hand as soon as we arrived to direct us and explain everything to us. The pitches were very good sizes. Facilities are spotless and not very far to walk from the site. Views are amazing as well, overall a very good site and will be back.

Great stay

It was my first time camping. We stayed for 1 night and it was Lovely. Great staff very helpful. We had 3 tents and wanted all together which was sorted straight away. Definitely recommend and we will return for sure. Thank you again to the lady we met on arrival.

Very well run site

The fields are large and you pitch up around the edges leaving large play area for families. There were a few groups of families camping together and it was lovely to see all of the children and adults playing together. Everyone quietened down early and we were not disturbed. You have plenty of room on your pitch for tents gazebos and cars. The facilities were kept very clean (cleaned twice a day) and we never had to queue. The Dog and Partridge is a 10 minute walk along the footpath of busy road. A lovely family run pub and the landlord was very chatty. Ashbourne is a lovely town however is undergoing a face lift so not so pretty at the moment. The Royal Oak at Mayfield serve the best Sunday dinner I've had for a long time. An excellent weekend. We can highly recommend this site.

It is always lovely to see the children playing on the field and not spending time on electronic devices. We agree that the Royal Oak serves a fantastic Sunday lunch and the menu generally there is excellent. Hopefully the disruption in Ashbourne will be finished for next season and the town will again be busy and restored to its former glory.

Lovely lil' campsite

Clean facilities, site owners were very welcoming and friendly, plenty of space on pitch. Only downside was the location of electric box which was more than 10m away from pitch (would have been avoided if had a longer lead). Overall, lovely area, nice pub nearby, lots of walking opportunities nearby. Will be coming back again.

Great site

We’ve just come back from 2 nights camping on this site, we all had a really good time, nice hikes & walks on the doorstop, facilities were clean and the site owners were lovely ☺️

So lovely!

Stayed here while going to Alton towers during the day. Only 10mins drive away and the people who run it are so lovely. The facilities are very clean and it was nice and peaceful.

Beautiful campsite

Extremely accommodating, even with some technical issues with my booking. Very friendly owners and I felt most welcome. Let me choose where I pitched as it wasn't busy and I had the most amazing view and a very peaceful stay. Showers and toilets were spotless and I am normally very fussy about cleanliness! Would come again definitely! Thank you.
