Our stay Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 We had never been to the park before, but mostly stayed the other side of Dorset.
The entrance approach could do with some advance signage as the coastal road is both busy for motorists and the motorbike fraternity who use it for spectacular coastal views. Many use it as a playground for testing their machines and subsequently without prior signage, can be right on top of you very quickly despite the turn.
Be careful, especially when pulling out as motorists do go right up to the limit on that road, so advance signage both ways and 'caution, site entrance' would be great.
As the site is really popular, security should really be 24 hours so that it can monitor activity of campers on the site so that everyone can enjoy their experience. Often rules are flouted blatantly. Security is on it, but they should make no apology for upholding the rules as we witnessed but tell people more firmly to behave; open fires were witnessed and fines placed on vans or tents disobeying the rules, it is after all a privately owned site. Also times, both children and adults are allowed to be noisy should be pinned more. Didn't get a lie in in two weeks! We're on holiday for goodness sake to relax. It was like getting up for work every morning.
Whilst we appreciate that the site cannot control who visits, there were some quite unsavoury characters there and females may sometimes feel apprehensive walking alone. More security patrols around the toilet blocks would have been appreciated or a presence felt there, especially at night. Better scheduling of van intakes to allow for less use of side intake road.
Disabled people, like one of our family members, didn't feel recognised and offered the locked disabled toilets. Receptionist customer service and security are very pleasant and amenable, top marks for this.
Better recognition of cleaning staff who are terrific and do a very challenging job indeed. Some of the toilets were in a terrible state and cleaned impeccably and promptly. Top marks here for the good work and excellent disposition they have to have on occasion with filthy campers and excrement.
Clearer signage at Elsan disposal points as one on top field regularly blocked with baby wipes. No female sanitary bins in toilet cubicles. Good pitch sizes, although some campers are cheeky with expanding over paid for areas with car parking.
Great site and location
Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2025 Fully serviced pitches are small and close together with very little room to manoeuvre. Our shower/toilet block was tired and in need of refurbishment. Adjacent shower cubicle water flows into yours over the floor, so not very hygienic.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 The staff in particular are worth a mention, so I'll start there: they are without exception, a credit to the park, from universal 'good morning' to cleanliness to helpfulness, 6 out of 5 all the way! In particular, I would mention the fabulous, personable and helpful ladies on the desk for the pool/gym area - absolute joy to speak to, brilliant!
Everything was made as easy as possible, highly recommend for this reason alone. Add in the lovely private beach, gorgeous rural setting, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, sauna, steam room, gym, bowling alley (!), clean washing/laundry/washing up facilities, nice fellow guests, tidy pitches and recreational areas, and you are on to a winner. It's not one of those absolutely huge places, but it's big enough to have everything you might need to keep you occupied for a few days.
Take a walk along the beach at low tide all the way to West Bay, or up on the cliff walk to see the amazing sunset over the coast, loll about in the sea, play some football - it's all good stuff, plenty of fresh air! Low light pollution at night demands that you step out of the tent or caravan and gaze at the stars - incredible, especially if you live in a town or city.
One small negative - if you are in the top field, at the very top as we were, groan, it's a bit of a traipse up and downhill for the toilets, for a shower, or to wash some dishes. Every day is 'leg day', good exercise, so unless you have the calves of a Tour de France competitor (I made good progress while we were there) try and get a plot/pitch lower down if you can.
Will we go back again - yes please, would love to! Thank you to everyone at Freshwater Beach for a refreshing time, full to the brim with stuff to do and at exactly the pace we wanted. Amazing.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 Our stay at Freshwater was the first time and also the first time camping in England.
It fit our needs perfectly and the price and quality combination is very good in comparison to many European countries. We loved having the direct connection to the beach and the sea and the outside and inside swimming pool. The upper field was a perfect spot for our tent and the lot was very spacious. The tent for 6 persons and the car on the lot still left enough space for eating outside or chilling in the evenings.
We would definitely recommend the holiday park to friends and family.

Better than we expected
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 This is not our usual type of place. We arrived and immediately thought we wouldn't like it, but there's something here for everyone.
We're two adults, no kids, two dogs, and usually go for a quiet, sparse site. This is mega busy, and I can see why - it's perfect for families and children, with enough to keep the kids occupied so parents can relax. I scored it down for value because we didn't use any of the entertainment or pools, but for others this will be a massive plus.
Staff are all helpful and friendly, the on site store is good and not overpriced, the dog walking field is great and the facilities are modern and spotless.
This is the sort of place my kids would cry about leaving when they were young.

The staff do an excellent job at maintaining them, will definitely be returning to this fantastic campsite for longer next time.
Ok but using the facilities is too difficult Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jul 2025 The 11pm curfew was not kept and we had different groups of people singing karaoke or just talking very loudly.
Campfires were common and therefore it was quite smoky. Trying to book the pools was a nightmare - sometimes it wouldn't work and we were told that bookings weren't needed on that day, other times, the pools were closed, but the website or app never gave that information.
On checkout day, you can stay to use the facilities, but only if you can find a parking spot, of which there are about 20, which isn't enough so you end up having to leave anyway.
Overall, while the facilities sounded nice, if you can't really use them, there's no point in paying for them. Add to that the noise late and night, it's just not somewhere we'd go back to.
3 night stay for a couple

The site is probably more suited to families with young children but we enjoyed the beach! Saw some lovely sunsets too!

Large commercial campsite
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jul 2025 We stayed here in July 2025, and the site was a lot busier than we had anticipated, but this was due to weekend travellers. Many of the tents, caravans, and campervans cleared out on the Sundays and Mondays.
The location was amazing, with access to the private beach, fantastic walks to the village and the overlooking hill, and the facilities were very good; however, access to the indoor pool was not available to us during the weekday, which was a huge disappointment.
The shop was excellent and provided everything you could need, from food, beverages, and camping supplies to souvenirs and very helpful staff.
The toilet, shower, and dishwashing blocks were very good (if one, not a little dated); they were kept very well cleaned for most of our stay and during the busier times, as best as traffic could have permitted.
The only down points I had were that the plots were on top of one another with no real physical division, just a burned-out grass/pebble demarcation line. This was ok during the quieter times, but at the weekends, was very claustrophobic with some inconsiderate campers who played their music too loud even for the daytime, in that you had no option to listen to their music, and it impinged massively on conversation and any viewing/music listening we may have wanted to do. These were adults who should have known better as well. Music and a party are totally fine, but be respectful of others who are also on holiday.
The last point I had was that one particular member of the reception staff I found to be quite rude, condescending, and unhelpful. When I went to ask for options to continue our final days at the campsite, as the weather forecast had turned drastically worse with severe weather warnings for thunder, I had asked for potential alternatives and to see if we could vacate our lot early for a caravan/tent/van, whatever may be available (we have been able to do this previously in Devon with a change to a glamping tent and no charge). Now, while I understand that some of these options were not available or an option, to have then been looked up and down at as if I was some scum on her shoe and with no offers of help or apology for not being able to help, just a rude "No," was disappointing and left me with a bad impression.
We ended up leaving early, unfortunately.
Having said all that, we did enjoy our time there and found the vast majority of staff to be very good, helpful, and pleasant.

The outdoor pool was great and the beach was right next to the site. We went just off season before the schools broke up and the site was not too busy, but certainly well staffed to look after the guests. Would certainly use this site again.

What a place
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jun 2025 Amazing clean and tidy site with 1 of the best locations we have been to. Kids loved the pool and with river running into the sea they had lots of options.
Food was lovely in the restaurant and reasonable priced. Bridport harbour being only a short walk away gave us something to do during the day. Can't wait to go back.

However, we were down the other end near the other toilet and shower block, and found most of the toilets were loose and very wobbly when you sit on them and every time we used them, we found them to be dirty. Dirty, grass and dirt on the floors of the shower.
