Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

We stayed here as a big group of friends and kids and had a great weekend. Simple little site just the field and toilets/showers but plenty room to space out so not on top of each other. The owner is lovely and made you feel very welcome.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2023

A great campsite if you're after basic, easy to use and with friendly, helpful service. The farmer's wife is principally involved in running it and she came around most evenings to make sure everyone was happy and had everything they needed. It's a large grassy field accessed off a quiet country road, with a row of electric hookups along one hedge, a male and female portaloo which is kept scrupulously clean and stocked with necessaries. Plenty of bins close by and at least two taps in different parts of the field. I reckon they might be fed from a spring, as the water tasted really good- we refilled our water bottles from it. The upper edge of the field is raised and is best for tents. Don't camp - or drive - in the middle, it's a bit soft and wet. We were warned about it by the farmer but some people didn't heed the warning and were towed out with a tractor. Very entertaining! Handy for Corbridge, the A69 and Hadrian's Wall, but well away from all the hustle and bustle. We would heartily recommend it!

FAQ

Check-in and check out does vary depending on what unit you're staying in. Check-in is at any time you would like. Checkout for tent campers is 12pm, for motorhomes and campervans is 11am.

One dog is welcome on each pitch as long as they are kept on a lead at all times.

Both BBQs and campfires are allowed. With BBQs they must be raised off the ground, always be attended and extinguished with water before heading to bed. There are designated areas for campsites on the field and logs are available to purchase.

Yes, you are welcome to park directly next to your pitch, just please park as close as possible.

You are welcome to have awnings on the electric pitches only, and a pup tent and gazebo on non electric pitches. Just please tick these options when booking.

The site will allow guests to visit you, all they ask is that they are signed in first. If they wish to stay overnight, payment will be required.

The nearby area is rich in history with the site even having an old roman road running straight through the field. You can head to Hadrian's Wall to see the forts and museums full of roman history or visit the historic town of Hexham with an abbey dating back to AD674.

For a day at the beach you are within an hour from Tynemouth or Whitley Bay. Both are great for days out with walks along the beach and a dip in the dea. Tynemouth is also home to castle ruins and often has a weekend market.

The Beamish Museum is quirky must see. An open living museum set in the olden days, you can spend your day visiting the old town with a bakery, blacksmiths shop and an old-fashioned sweet shop where you can see them being made!

Other nearby attractions include:

  • National Trust - Cherryburn (10 minutes)
  • Pow Hill Country Park (15 minutes)
  • Gibside (20 minutes)
  • Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens (30 minutes)
  • Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens (30 minutes)
